Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Would this do the trick? I am thinking about purchasing this, even though my Framemeister has been working fine in the wall socket. http://www.amazon.com/VCT-VT-500J-Japan ... CT+VT-500J
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
With switching PSUs that's really not neccessary and doesn't make a difference. With classic coil PSUs it would make a (tiny) difference, but I'm using 2:1 stepdown converters (230/240V to 115/120V) for 20 years now with all my import stuff. No problems whatsoever.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
As I said on last page, a 1000/2000 PSU is 0.3A short, a 3000 PSU is 0.8A short. I wouldn't use either, but I'm guessing it works for the guy who mentioned it in the first place?Fudoh wrote:but the current (voltage) isn't the power (amperage). If your current doesn't match the unit, you'll fry your machine.
A PSP PSU is probably too weak.
Not who you were talking to, but I don't like using voltage transformers when there's native (?) power supplies available. Why would you use a power supply from a different device? Couldn't you just buy one of these voltage transformers?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I haven't had an issue with using the XRGB-3 power supply on 120VAC for several years. Nor have I noticed any issues with the mini's AC adapter on 120VAC either. So, it's really a non issue. The bigger issue is whether or not the capacitors go bad in the power supply. Micomsoft sells a replacement AC adapter for the XRGB-3, and sent replacements to owners in Japan. However, my XRGB-3 never stopped working, and I haven't tried openening the AC adapter to check. I'd imagine this type of issue won't happen with the mini, but it's not related to using 120VAC on a 100VAC adapter.NWrain wrote:I live in the US. I get 120V from the wall. Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
The wiki I posted earlier had a link to this power supply. I ordered it earlier this week and should have it today.
The output is switchable to 5V and just about covers the Mini's amperage requirement. It also has the right size tip for it.

Awesome. Something I won't have to convert six ways from Sunday.RGB32E wrote:I haven't had an issue with using the XRGB-3 power supply on 120VAC for several years. I received my XRGB mini today, and I plugged it in with the stock power adapter. It works, so I won't worry about that anymore.
I haven't read the entire thread yet, but some have called the component input on the mini bad. I have been pretty impressed with the component input so far. I can't see much difference between the RGB input and Component processing for 240P. I just plugged everything in, scaled to 1080P, and these were my results.
Apologies for the poor photos.
Sega Saturn->XRGB Mini->RGB Input->1080P

Sega Saturn->Sync Strike->Kramer FC-14 transcoder->Component->1080P

I can't believe I messed around with FLI-2200 scalers for as long as I did.
If someone could tell me how to eliminate the black borders around the screen I would appreciate it.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
The resizing options are very buggy and you can't use scanlines if you resize the picture. If someone could tell me how to eliminate the black borders around the screen I would appreciate it.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Firstly Im a noob to all this and I wasn't aware of this setup, does it really make a difference? Also I can't seem to find a VGA to Mini Din cable online is there a special place to get one?Fudoh wrote:here you go:Here's how to get the best PS2 image quality without losing any compatibility and make it all hassle free
PS1/2/3 RGB cable - good brand besides the original is SnakebyteStep 1 - Buy this
Arcadeforge Sync Strike - to get clean sync when using a 15khz signal.
Extron RGB Interface to convert RGsB in 31khz mode to RGBs for the Mini, e.g. a 190 xi.
PS2 > (RGB) > Sync Strike > (VGA cable) > Extron interface > (VGA to MiniDin cable) > XRGB MiniStep 2 - Connect it here
set the PS2 to RGB. This will output RGBs in 15khz mode and RGsB (Sync on Green) in 31khz modes.Step 4 - Set your PS2 to this mode
also I got a av famicom being modded with rgb would this method improve the picture even more?
thanks in advance
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
does it really make a difference?
On the PS2 the RGBs (for 240p and 480i) and RGsB (for 480p) signals have basically no visible noise compared to the component ones. So, yes, it makes a difference.
no, you have to get one made or make it yourself. Also I can't seem to find a VGA to Mini Din cable online is there a special place to get one?
no, the AV Famicom with RGB is perfect already. Anything to complain about on yours ?also I got a av famicom being modded with rgb would this method improve the picture even more?

I found that my monitor has an overscan function when paired with the frame meister. It takes care of the borders, and I still have my scanlines. It never appeared with my other scalers on VGA or DVI.
480P and 1080P work perfectly with and without scanlines. However, 720P has white/rainbow stipes flickering horizontally across the screen. Does anyone know what is happening?
I am using Euro scart wired cables, and the Retro Accessories Euro scart to mini-din adapter.

I already have the SCART to mini din convert from retro game accessories, is it possible that I can get a VGA to SCART cable?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I just got my Framemeister Mini XRGB today. I'm not getting any audio at all from it tho
Using my Sharp Twin Famicom to try.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
tried with my pal mega drive. image is horrible with that.
still no audio btw.
maybe frame meister doesn't support pal video input?
Still no luck with sound. But is it really even supporting audio out in the hdmi?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
It supports PAL (update your firmware if you haven't) and it definitely supports audio over HDMI.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
you must have a RGB cable (RGB-21 JAP) or a PAL RGB with a SCART PAL to JAP to your framemeister. Your sound problem should be from this cable problem.Elrinth wrote:tried with my pal mega drive. image is horrible with that.still no audio btw.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Tried my PC-Engine now aswell... Visuals but no audio.
Tried my Wii U with HDMI 1 just for funs sake... Bland visuals but no audio. Probably bland visual cause I didn't change any settings from how I set it up for my Famicom, for the visuals.
Are you guys sure there is nothing wrong with my unit?
There really are only 3 different settings for the audio...
(1) Volume. I tried maxing, still not a squeak.
(2) A/V Mute... This actually mutes both Audio and Video. Not only audio.
(3) Some HDMI / Analog setting under options, which doesn't make any difference.
Yes I updated to 1.07A already just like said in this tutorial:
http://junkerhq.net/xrgb/index.php/XRGB ... AMEMEISTER
I just ordered a PAL scart -> JAP scart convertor from here: http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/euro ... erter.html
EDIT:
Success! I switched HDMI cable between TV and framemeister... Now I get better visuals for the Wii U AND Audio... That old cable must've been some real shit.
Actually it was the bottom-most hdmi-port on my tv whihc was fucked up. Tried again now with the old cable and top hdmi-port and it works flawlessly!
Thx everyone who try to help

Great
now have fun

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I took a photo of the issue I mentioned previously. I get streaks across the screen, and I was wondering if anyone knows what is causing this? I tested this on another monitor, and the same thing happens.
I tested on my TV, and it works fine there, but I occasionally lose sync.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
try to disable functions like deep color. force the color space to RGB and possible switch between DVI and HDMI output mode. Nothing else I could think of.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
None of those worked unfortunately. I used firmware 1.06, and firmware 1.07a. I even tested a official Super Famicom cable on my SNES using the JP21 connector, and the same issue happens on 720P. I bought mine from Solaris Japan. Has anyone had any luck dealing with them before? They don't have a return policy listed on their website...
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
don't worry, if it's flaky unit, it will get replaced. Send them the pictures and have them forward your screenshots to Micomsoft. This is the easiest and fastest way to determine if it's a problem with the machine.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
A friend of mine bought a Framemeister a while back and it behaved like yours in 720p, but worked fine in 480p and 1080p. Unfortunately he has been so busy with his work that he hasn't had a chance to test it on another TV. He's using an older LG LCD TV. I hope it's just the TV acting weird, it's probably too late for him to get a replacement Framemeister now.
It's a damn shame he lives in the opposite end of the country, I could easily determine what the problem was if I brought my Framemeister to his house

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I tried to read this thread but I have spent hours scrolling through all the pages and haven't found what I'm looking for.
So here's my question:
Has anyone tried to capture some gameplay with the HD PVR 2? It has HDMI in and out so it should be possible, right?
The connection would be something like this:
Console > XRGB-Mini > HD PVR 2 > HDTV
If anyone has tried this, please let me know and tell me if it works and if it does, what should I think of.

shouldn't be anything special?
I ordered a roxio game capture hd same time as my framemeister, still waiting for it to arrive, tho I got my framemeister yesterday. should be same setup. will post back to thread when I got it
then again, japan to swe has always been faster than us to swe for me.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
In theory it works. You need to disable the framelock (V-Sync) on the Mini, so the processor can output 59.94Hz instead of what the source system delivers. When I last tried the framelock function was broken and could NOT be properly turned off. This was mentioned in my review a year ago already.

Also I notice there was under options some sync stuff, however couldn't be configured.
Btw... Here's just a quick preview on what happens with framemeister on my TV:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73q60opmmgE
Looks okay, but I feel there is color bleeding happening with the framemeister but without the framemeister image looks great on my samsung tv. it's like the samsung tv upscales better? o_O
Will see how it is with the Pc-Engine later when I get the jap -> eu scart convertor cause my pc-engine is rbg-modded.

You're using composite video. That always sucks.
