XRGB-mini Framemeister
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Its not really the best way these days, though that test w/ something like smtt 2.0 is probably the best home user way of testing, unless you have access to a high end oscilloscope.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
In 1.06, after you set it to ENG in the SPECIAL menu, at what point should the text be in English?Konsolkongen wrote:You need to manually switch the language to ENG in the SPECIAL menu.
After you back out to the main menu or after you power off and back on the unit?
Tried both, but still in Japanese...
Here are five images for what I am talking about.I'm not sure what you mean. Are you referring to strange jaggies when using 480i/p?
One, Two, Three, Four, Five

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Like I said before. v1.05 is in English and 1.06 is not.
I don't see anything wrong with those pictures?

Oh, thought you said 1.06 was and 1.05 was not.
But don't the edges look way over sharpened and jagged to you?
I don't re-call them look like this before I had problems updating to 1.05.

No sorry I can't see anything wrong with those :/
Micomsoft has confirmed the problem with the English language and is working on a solution

Did you click the images again to zoom in? They are like 3000x2000 in size.Konsolkongen wrote:No sorry I can't see anything wrong with those :/
That's alright. Isn't the main features of 1.06 just PAL support?Konsolkongen wrote:Micomsoft has confirmed the problem with the English language and is working on a solution

Yes, it just looks very similar to Pocket Fighters on Saturn on my setup. What are you looking for, a softer image?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I am really liking my new XRGB Mini but I am wondering what's the deal with the picture noise that seems to be pretty prevalent? It's only noticeable on flat graphics, but it's pretty noticeable. A good example is the blue background in Super Mario Bros. 1 where it almost looks like compression artifacts or just like "cloudy movement". It's very hard to see on a game with very detailed and busy graphics like Secret of Mana but anything with solid, flat colors it's very noticeable.
It's worse in Game1 and Game2 modes than it is in "standard" mode. Just making sure I'm not the only one.

Are you talking SNES? The Super Nintendo 1-chip version has a lot of noise in the picture, although hard to see most of the time.

SNES is one of them, but it's very obvious in the original NES too (especially in Super Mario Bros which I mentioned). My NES is RGB modded.Konsolkongen wrote:Are you talking SNES? The Super Nintendo 1-chip version has a lot of noise in the picture, although hard to see most of the time.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I thought perhaps you meant SMB1 in the Super Mario All-stars compilation
Haven't really noticed any noise in my NES's RGB picture. There is a _very_ slight hint of jailbars when playing without scanlines, but other than that it looks great.
My MegaDrive 1 has a bit of noise in the blue colors still, even after disabling the clock signal on the CXA1145 to eliminate jailbars. It's still much better than the SNES though.
Saturn and Neo Geo CD looks perfect.
EDIT: Micomsoft has found a solution to my MVS scanline problem. All I have to do is set the V_width to 33 (32 is default) and it seems to work perfectly again. I wonder if this problem is caused by the new RGB-level settings? At any rate, the XRGB sees the MVS as 241p, so I hope they will be able to make it switch to 33 for 241p and back to 32 for 240p automatically so we don't have to change it when we switch consoles

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Maybe playing with those settings will help with the problematic PAL games too?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I don't think the stuttering on MegaDrive/Saturn are be related to the width of the picture.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I'm certainly no expert in such things and I may be talking nonsense but couldn't changing the resolution just by a fraction nudge the refresh rate into tolerance?

No I was referring to my problem with the Neo Geo MVS scanlines

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Yeah I know, nvm, I'm not making sense, the resolution actually output would not change my zooming would it? Might have to just bite the bullet and pick up a Frame Meister and run my XRB3 in tandem. If only I wasn't an Amiga fanboy I could pretty much do without PAL at all

I'm not sure I follow? Do you want to stretch the PAL image to fill the whole screen? That doesn't work at the moment.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I'm pretty sure that within the next weeks/months the Mini will completely outshine the XRGB-3 in PAL performance.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
If they fix the scaling engine to support proper scanlines on PAL material then perhaps. The XRGB-3 + Edge or Gefen did 50Hz flawlessly, and with perfect scanlines.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I unhooked my DVDO Edge and all the picture noise went away. Weird. Anyway, goodbye Edge and mini combo! Mini is going solo!
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
That's odd I've never got noise on my Edge's picture. Make sure you don't have anything stacked on top of your Edge! Once I was experimenting with things and plonked the PS2 on top of it, that added quite a bit of noise. Then again there's not much to be gained by chaining the FrameMeister to the Edge other than to use the Edge's nice Zoom/Pan controls.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Just finished RGB modifying my friends AV Famicom Moosmann-style
It appears to work perfectly with the Mini, as expected. And I also just realized that they fixed the H_pos-bug in V1.06. Nice

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Yes, I guess you could say that. But it really does seem that the sharpness of the game seen in these images were not this pronounced before.Konsolkongen wrote:What are you looking for, a softer image?
Fudoh, do these images look too sharp/jagged to you?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
they look fine to me. Why don't you adjust the V/H scaling settings your liking ? And make sure to have sharpness at zero all the time. I also don't use the GAME scaling preset on any source...

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I use Game scaling mode for everything 240p. If you mess with the H/V_scaler settings it will affect the pixel width.
The Game scaling also kicks ass when used for 480i/p and you use 1080p output and Smart_X2. Guilty Gear on PS2 looks very, very close to what the Optoma does, and Wii looks hella better than ever before :O

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Everybody should use the settings he likes best. The game preset is rather sharp and if Seraphic likes a softer picture, he might want to adjust the scaling settings. You might also want to try a lower output resolution. If you find 1080p too sharp in general, maybe 720p or 480p is more to your liking. 480p is VERY VERY CRT-like.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Does the Game preset (or any of the others) have any effect on input lag?

Hello
Pardon the noob post.
I have just received this lovely device and updated it to 1.05
is 720p still the way to go?
Thanks!
