Btw, does anyone know what's with all the "H" marks in the background? Yes of course, helicopter landing spots...
but they're everywhere, do they do anything special or are they really just for decoration? Seems strange
You have to sit on each H of every stages to reach the 2nd loop.
Watched a bit of the C-expert replay, amazing just how fast and dense some of the patterns get after a few rank increases. I think I saw some "organic" patterns out of stage 3 boss (?), fast streams of blue bullets that drift slightly backwards, very slick!
Agreed that some of background (particularly stage 2) are a bit bland and repetitive... But some are really nice too. Indeed an abundance of blue, then again, the galuda's have a lot of tan and gray, and those for me are some of the best cave has produced.

Does.. Not... Compute...
The soundtracks for DDP and AK are fairly similar in their cock-rockery. How many people do you think were wearing leather pants during the AK studio sessions?
I don't see how safe spots on the stage 2 and 3 bosses are a big deal. That one on stage 3 boss doesn't even look like a real safe spot seeing how the guy was constantly moving and seemed to autobomb at the end.

I don't consider safe spots mistakes unless they are glaring issues on close-to or actual end bosses (eg. DFK 1.0 Hibachi).
In the case of the stage2 safespot, it doesn't look usable (although you could sit a bit closer to do damage), while the player gets hit still on the stage3 boss last pattern. There's probably one on stage4 boss last form, as well (inside the circle of discs).
If you want truly broken safespots, check this out.

I'm pretty sure I saw someone try this on a stream. The little round bullets will shoot into the disc if that's where your ship is. It probably makes the pattern easier, but that's not the same as "safe."
Also, I personally think the last pattern on the final boss' second phase (with the glass plates) is pretty awesome.
Ugh Cave... That's awful. What kind of testers you have? I mean... shouldn't beta testers try out any possible place on a boss while looking for a safespot? In the stage 2 and 3 bosses isn't that obvious but lol, the 4rth safespot was obvious... you even had a semi-safespot in the same place on DaiOuJou...
And now what will happen to all of the sold PCB's? Owners must feel cheated.

At 20:20, after the guy kills that big enemy, he rushes to top left corner on the H-mark, and all the stars convert to hyper-recharging stars.
Or is is there some other explanation?
EDIT: Sorry for doublepost... And I guess he gets them because he switched to shot. But still, that's strange rushing to that H-mark, like it's a secret bee or something
the big enemy is bullet cancelling, im sure he rushes up there just to heard the bullets for the oncoming patterns.
im sure the Hs are just for decoration.. isnt there a TLB called Hivac for instance, maybe that has something to do with it..
and re the safespots theyre not that bad, the 3rd boss safespot isnt even technically a safespot as he cant do it without getting hit.. the rings on stage 4 boss were a means to skyrocket your counter in DOJ (they even raised the hit counter in BL for this sole purpouse) so im sure they are in this aswell.

Al of the stars you collect while not being on Hyper mode are hyper recharging stars. The problem is that the small stars are the crushing majority while not hypering and they refill the hyper very little: maybe a 0,5%? while the big ones seems to recharge a lot more: bettwen 5% and 10%?.
Edit: the 3rd boss safespot seems to be a very thin line bettwen the boss and the bullets. I think the player just toched the boss in the last moment and that's why the bomb triggered
