Sorry if this has been covered before.(no I'm not

I am on a 32bit system with a 3.1ghz core 2 duo and an older Radeon 4750 (not sure if the card matters) and everything runs exceptionally well with the exception of a few hiccups in Muchi Muchi Pork and Pink Sweets. Haven't tried Ibara yet...mirkvid wrote:OK, so a I'm thinking of getting a laptop in the near future instead of a JPXbox 360. Do the newer MAME-available shmup ROMS run alright? Do they require a 64 bit CPU to run properly?

All cpus sold in the last like 10 years are 64bit.mirkvid wrote:OK, so a I'm thinking of getting a laptop in the near future instead of a JPXbox 360. Do the newer MAME-available shmup ROMS run alright? Do they require a 64 bit CPU to run properly?

The slowdown is available in Metallic's slowpoke build.BPzeBanshee wrote:You're better off with that JP360. The slowdown is nonexistant and performance requirements for the newer games will require something close to a gaming PC anyway.
More like the last 5-6 years. You'd have a pretty hard time finding a 64-bit CPU from 2002.AntiFritz wrote:All cpus sold in the last like 10 years are 64bit.mirkvid wrote:OK, so a I'm thinking of getting a laptop in the near future instead of a JPXbox 360. The slowdown in Metallic's build is still not precisely accurate to the PCBs for reasons other than the blitter fillrate, as stated previously in this thread, in addition to graphics issues on some machines, and the performance requirement which is still considerably higher than your average MAME arcade game.Nasirosuchus wrote:The slowdown is available in Metallic's slowpoke build.BPzeBanshee wrote:You're better off with that JP360. There was about two whole pages of people's idea of the right fillrate for each game if you just look through the thread. Deathsmiles is at it's closest to the Xbox 360 port at 63%.KNTain wrote:Is there a list of per-game values for Slowpoke anywhere?
The slowdown in the ports isn't precisely accurate to the PCB's, either. No emulated game ever runs 100% accurate to the original. Esp.Ra.De has graphical glitches, the PGM games (Ketsui, DDP:DOJ, and Espgaluda) have inaccurate sound, the video emulation in Shienryu isn't quite right, I could go on and on. In all cases, however, the games are still playable.BPzeBanshee wrote:The slowdown in Metallic's build is still not precisely accurate to the PCBs for reasons other than the blitter fillrate, as stated previously in this thread, in addition to graphics issues on some machines.......
Most desktop PC's, even those made by OEM's like Dell and HP, for example, are powerful enough to run these games. The only component that really matters is the speed of the CPU, and when you consider that many of the people who are into shmups are avid gamers and tech enthusiasts who build their own rigs, they should have enough machine to cut the mustard.and the performance requirement which is still considerably higher than your average MAME arcade game.
thats pretty coolraiod wrote:It's a shame the iMame4all app is not made from a newer mame version, but i think the ipad would lack the power to play DOJ or Ketsui...
Nevertheless, Dodonpachi and Esp. RaDe work MARVELLOUS!
No, that's a harmless warning that you don't have a file which isn't dumped anyway. In this case the protection device is simulated.shmuppyLove wrote:I realized just recently that my 143u9 setup won't play ESPGaluda any more ... it has previously worked fine, and I even re-downloaded it from the latest full set (144) and it still doesn't work.
Audit is showing this:
espgal : espgal_igs027a.bin (16384 bytes) - NOT FOUND - NO GOOD DUMP KNOWN
Did it get nerfed recently? Is there somewhere you can look up the "history" of a set to see when/if the status has changed?
There's no run SH3 option in the menu- pussies!
urgh...mjclark wrote:There's no run SH3 option in the menu- pussies!
But...Illvelo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is there any 32/64 bit choices in this new release? and what the hell is WinCE games?mjclark wrote:But what's the system requirements- I've tried Illvelo and it's running worse than Dolphin emulator and everything's choppy.
Boo!

Well, looks like Demul guys "got scared of them" after all.mjclark wrote: There's no run SH3 option in the menu- pussies!
yeah. i really wanna see sh3 with dynarec support. and hopefully DFK.BPzeBanshee wrote: Jokes aside, and SH3 being truly underground aside, I think the Demul dev's contibutions are more noticable in the emulators that are currently on the edge of what's being worked on right now, namely Supermodel and MAME/MESS, rather than Demul itself. Personally I think it's a shame as the performance increase would've been beautiful, but it's their choice in the end.
I doubt Cave has anything to do with it.BPzeBanshee wrote:Stirring the controversy pot again, but...

MAME's underlying philosophy of preserving arcade games for the future should surely help the devs not to take things personally since they are fulfilling some kind of vision.IseeThings wrote: So basically you only have yourselves to blame for the missing SH3 support.
