Official Raiden IV thread
Right - I bought this game on 360 for Double Play, and it seems you can only play Double Play on one pad using the two thumb sticks. I really want to play using both my Xbox 360 arcade sticks. Is there anyway I can set it up to let me do this? If not, that's crap. Surely standard Double Play should be with arcade sticks? Raiden III had it.
If I do play Xbox 360 mode, I go for Normal difficulty, as it's default for the game.
Finally another question: After you enter a highscore, you save twice in a row. (I presume once for your score and once for replay). Is the first save for score, or for replay? I keep saving all these replays I don't want!
On Raiden IV I'm playing Arcade Mode, Original difficulty (1 up from Normal), and finally Original Mode (as opposed to Light). I set the difficulty up to Original as that's the same as the default on the PCB.Guardians Knight wrote: so what is the difficulty of choice here then? arcade and original? wondering the same thing for RFJ too, i been on arcade mostly and aint noticed a huge difference between that and normal like....

can't you just play a 2 player game on your own? or am i missing something, maybe to do with it scoring differently?spadgy wrote:Right - I bought this game on 360 for Double Play, and it seems you can only play Double Play on one pad using the two thumb sticks. Yeah, Dual Play mode should work with two independent sticks. The only difference is the is that Double play combines the scores, Dual does not.msm wrote:can't you just play a 2 player game on your own? or am i missing something, maybe to do with it scoring differently?spadgy wrote: Surely standard Double Play should be with arcade sticks? Yeah - no combined scores, no shared lives, no Double Play achievements! I guess at least the separate lives makes things easier - but that's not what I want! Gonna have to use a pad. Anyway, I worked out that after you enter you score the first save is fpr you score, and the second save is for the replay.
Once again, here are the boss names, along with their Romaji.
Boss 1: エグゼレイ・イス (eguzerei isu)
Boss 2: オルド/フュラス/マイラザード (orudo/fyurasu/mairazaado)
I can't figure out any of these. They are probably obscure mythological references. The closest I got was "Fyurasu", which is an Akkadian loanword and "euato", which closely matches "Evato", a town in Madagascar ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evato )
"Da ruchura" could be a corruption of "Da" and "Ruchira". "Da" refers to Adi Da, a controversial guru who founded a new religious movement known as Adidam. Ruchira is short for "Ruchira Avatar-Bhakti Yoga", which is the practice of this relationship to Adi Da.
The Ultimate of Raiden soundtrack is interesting, since it includes remixes of Raiden II music. The Raiden II music tracks never were given track names, but in this Raiden IV OST, they were given actual names:
R4 Stage 3, R2 Stage 7: "Flap Toward the Hope"
R4 Stage 4, R2 Stage 2/8: "Tragedy Flame"
R4 Stage 5 EX, R2 Stage 1: "Repeated Tragedy"
This makes me wonder if these Raiden II tracks were named these from the beginning, or given these names in Raiden IV.

I think you need to be signed in on a Japanese region profile because I get that error when trying to purchase ships on my US profile.Guardians Knight wrote:ive got asian points! thats what i tried to use, but it keeps giving me that error i posted above
What I'd really like to know is, after this type of DLC is downloaded, would it then be available to my US profile to use? I guess I can test this by signing in on another profile to see if DLC in other games still is added...
How old is the asian points card? If you look at Play-Asia the users seem to be having success with the latest asian points cards on a Japanese gamertag but old points don't seem to be compatible.Guardians Knight wrote:ive got asian points! thats what i tried to use, but it keeps giving me that error i posted above
How much truth is in that I don't know.

Hey I managed to purchase ms points in-game, I used a Japanese profile (passport/live account) and added a credit card, I put in all my normal credit card info, then onthe next page for address I used zip 0600000 and chose the first prefecture on the list and made up a city name (random japanese characters) then on the address 1 line, I put my normal correct street address that I use for billing (not including city state or zip)Guardians Knight wrote:ok thanks guys, i guess i'll have to buy some japanese points then
Wait, what? Impossible. This would mean that you can download points via Japanese content that you can access inside games, and not directly from the marketplace. I tried this with iDOLM@STER Live for You just now, and it wouldn't let me add my Mastercard to a recently created Japanese account. It says "The postal address doesn't match your city, state and locale."kemical wrote:Hey I managed to purchase ms points in-game, I used a Japanese profile (passport/live account) and added a credit card, I put in all my normal credit card info, then onthe next page for address I used zip 0600000 and chose the first prefecture on the list and made up a city name (random japanese characters) then on the address 1 line, I put my normal correct street address that I use for billing (not including city state or zip)Guardians Knight wrote:ok thanks guys, i guess i'll have to buy some japanese points then
It really worked, I am using a VISA card, I'm not sure if that makes any difference. It could possibly be that VISA doesn't check the address, and uses the 3-digit security code, not sure if Mastercard has that.
The first information screen was entirely credit card related, and had the ZIP on there (my real zip) once I entered the info, it then goes to page 2 which has the billing address, which I chose Japanese information for, except for the first line of my real address "XXXX Street Name #APT" which went in the final field on that screen.

Don't have a VISA card but it definitely doesn't work with my Mastercard. I'm not sure why. It has a security code too, but after entering it and entering a bunch of Japanese details, I get a failed error pop up.
I'm not too worried though. My current Mastercard is still attached to my main JP account, before they locked them in late 2007. Still, I would like to have another account with my card attached to it as well.

yeah I recently bought sin and punishment on the wii via the japanese wii download page.... I was shocked when it actually took my card. I thought it wouldn't work... visa also.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Even more worth getting after today's update (well - I downloaded it today).Dazzyman wrote:Yea its worth getting
Best of all for me, (and J^aws if you're out there mate!) you can now use two arcade sticks for Double Play!)
Also, the sound - is it me or is it improved?
Also, loads of small updates like being able to select the player-two ship in the 'World Ranking' game start-menu. (EDIT - seems you can now select P2 ship for all modes.)
I know this should have all be done before release, but I'm really glad they've gone to the time and effort to put this in!
ANOTHER EDIT: None of my Xbox Live freinds seem to be playing this, so my 'Friends' World Ranking hi-score table is empty. I'm OTAspadgy - Add me!

For Double Players, the two-stick thing is a big improvement. I for one always play Raiden games in Double Play more than Solo.
Fixing the sound issues too (if they are fixed - it sounds better on my TV...)
Admittedly, the Blue ship thing is small, as the ships don't have the vast difference between them that they do in many other Raiden games. Having played DX quite a bit with Blue ship because of that difference, it's nice to be able to climb inside a familiar cockpit once again.
