Why not using emoticons when trying to be funny?Turrican wrote:I now see the pattern by which franchises are resurrected:
R-Type team is done with R-Type;
external team is hired by someone to do a new Broken Thunder;
fans are outraged, "kusogame" becomes a well spread slang;
R-Type team must avenge its own baby.
And so it begins anew.

Broken Thunder?! Seriously?

That would be true, if Tecno Soft or anyone ever affiliated with them had anything to do with TF's "resurrection"*.Turrican wrote:I now see the pattern by which franchises are resurrected:

And by resurrection, I mean shitty frankenstein remix from some hack at Sega.

Ah ah... Well... It'll be funny only if R-TD doesn't screw up. Otherwise it would just be painful, not funny.Necronom wrote:Why not using emoticons when trying to be funny?Turrican wrote:I now see the pattern by which franchises are resurrected:

I would like it if they basically took Final, tweaked it, got rid of the slowdown, and added extra levels to compensate for the lack of complexity.
They could also make the ships more distinguished from each other. Many of the ships were just a new model that could charge one more level.
Speaking of Leo, Final should have had a proper Leo, along with some funkier stuff, like a failed series of experimental ships that tried to use two Forces, a charge beam that made the ship invincible, a ship where another player could play and take control of the force.
Hell, they could have four players play at the same time.
*edit*
I just thought of something, this will probably be a 3D R-type where you can also move left and right.
It would certainly be be fresh and unique, plus likely damn difficult.
The level designs could be absolutely fantastic though.

The last thing Final needed was more stages. In fact, the game had way too many, as well as an awkwardly inserted 8th stage depending on whether or not you were using the R12.Thinimus wrote:I would like it if they basically took Final, tweaked it, got rid of the slowdown, and added extra levels to compensate for the lack of complexity.
The game needed nothing beyond 7 really well focused levels.. just like Delta.

They should cut out the first three levels, add more enemies to remove downtime, and increase the speed of everything. I also hated how much life bosses had in R-Typer mode. All bosses should go down in about the same time, regardless of the ship you are using. Actually, they should remove 99 of the ships so they can build a balanced roster.
You mean make it into the screen like starfox? I can't see this idea getting much love. What would be the point of dodging when you have a shield in front blocking everything?I just thought of something, this will probably be a 3D R-type where you can also move left and right.

Just remake Delta in HD with no slowdown - job done. It's the best in the series in my opinion, even better than the original.

Microsoft is trying to gain JP market right? They paid lots of money to G-Rev and Treasure and all.
They probably aproached Irem, and asked them "Hey, here lots of $$$, make an R-Type for the Xbox 360", to which them replied "No, R-Type Final was our last R-Type... we don't know how to make STGs anymore as R-Type Final shows". Microsoft then Replied "Ok, here lots of $$$ so we can produce our own R-Type", and Irem goes "Huzzah!".

Well not like Starfox where the camera sits behind you and you fly like a plane, but like a regular fixed direction R-type except that you could slide towards and away from the screen. Think of Final or Delta letting you use the L and R buttons for strafing.Zebra Airforce wrote:They should cut out the first three levels, add more enemies to remove downtime, and increase the speed of everything. It would be interesting if you could rotate on occasion, though it would kinda defeat the purpose of the force if you could whip around and shoot backwards without detaching it. I suppose you could be forced to face one direction when moving faster in most areas.
I wish I could program.

sorry to bump but does anyone else have any info on this???

Well, R-Type Final was nothing to write home about, sans the wide array of ships... horrid level design, painfully boring bosses, dead music... much like Konami getting American developers for Contra 4 (after the appalling Neo Contra) and Silent Hill 5 (after.. ugh.. SH4), perhaps it's time for Irem to sit aside while someone worthy can take over for them.Shatterhand wrote:Microsoft is trying to gain JP market right? Sonic Team should take notes on this. Same with Nintendo.

The only info so far is that it will be released this year and that a developer called Tozai is working on it. Tozai is also responsible for the upcoming Loderunner remake for XBLA. What I have seen from E3 Loderunner videos so far didn't look very exciting to me, just like a standard homebrew remake. So I won't expect too much from the R-Type game either to avoid disapointment.mr_m0nks wrote:sorry to bump but does anyone else have any info on this???

Sony is to reveal a new Irem game at TGS.mr_m0nks wrote:sorry to bump but does anyone else have any info on this???
Perhaps Dimensions is coming to PSN, so perhaps we'll get more info soon. Pure speculation of course.
First 2 Pictures arrvied
Looks quite promising. Seems that you can switch from 2d to 3d anytime.

It has been mentioned a couple of times already that IREM has nothing to do with Dimensions.spadgy wrote:Sony is to reveal a new Irem game at TGS.mr_m0nks wrote:sorry to bump but does anyone else have any info on this???

Screenshots look interesting. Always loved the colour palette of Part 2.
Of course - I was just speculating that they might be involved in the PR and marketing somehow. I'm pretty good at getting things wrong though!Necronom wrote:It has been mentioned a couple of times already that IREM has nothing to do with Dimensions.spadgy wrote:Sony is to reveal a new Irem game at TGS.mr_m0nks wrote:sorry to bump but does anyone else have any info on this???

Re my post above, there's a video here, and the game is listed as developed and published by Irem. A mistake on 1up's behalf?
EDIT: Kron's video is far better. Seems Kron posted while I was still fannying about trying to format a link. Still interesting to see Irem listed though.
