It's interesting to think, if it is just 150 PCBs, and Cave sells through all at full price (which they will), let's say $1500 profit per board after store profits and production costs are taken out, so that's an easy $225,000. Nice year end bonus for Ikeda (as he's probably doing most of this himself). Also keep in mind that's about the same profit a company gets from selling 7500 copies of a PS2 game!
I'll decide on whether or not I'm going to buy this by tomorrow probably. Right now I'm leaning towards a purchase. I'll be getting a nice fat check from a book editing side job I recently secured (some freelance work for a major academic publication), which will help me pay for this.
It's hard to put a "profit per board" price on it. Even if Ikeda's doing it himself, he's not cheap. But, he's on a salary. If it's not keeping him from other stuff, then it's a good deal. Something tells me there's more to it than just him.

Haha. Not likely.
I am looking forward to them making Reco and Palm each have a stronger and more balanced shot and laser (especially Palm). I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Reco with Abnormal's C shot and Normal's A shot, but slightly tweaked. I also wouldn't be surprised if this one is higher scoring (both previous BLs have been), and maybe they'll implement some changes as seen in the special Cave festival versions of Futari, such as the counter flashing red for a moment in Original mode to indicate you should switch between A and C. That would be really great.
-The reason for the '150' only is they have 150 unsold ver 1.0 boards which they are reprogramming with Futari BL to get them out of the warehouse. The box, artwork, and poster will all be brand new though. Maybe a sticker on the box like Ibara BL?
I'll probably buy one, and sell the poster for big $$$.
Ugh, I was planning on getting Futari as a xmas gift to myself (yay for justifying selfish wants) but I don't think I can swing the $2000+ this will run, especially since I just built a new PC. Damn you Cave!

Well just get Futari then as you planned. It's about $1000 for a kit and well worth it.

I'm in the same boat, but I can't help but think Futari still has another drop to come, even $50 would keep me happy

proboably one of the reasons theyre releasing the BL version.
I don't see how that could be a reason considering Ultra mode isn't on BL!
And anyway, no one here is going to get close to 4bil in Ultra, so it matters very little to us. The top theoretical score is probably no more than a few hundred million over 4bil, so it's not a big deal anyway. Getting the counterstop ALL is proof enough that you're hardcore.
yeah i meant it was proboably one of the incentives they had when making BL, and to top that they just jazzed it up a little more.. im glad they realised removing a counterop 3 people in the world will reach isnt enough to warrant a new release
the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..
It may be their weird way of preventing 32 bit rollover in the score. They just clamp it to an arbitrary number, and 3,999,999 looks cooler than 4294967295

But there is still 4294967295 - 3999999999 = 294967296
or 295 Million before overrun...

rtw
Yes, I know. I'm saying artificially stopping it at 3,999,999,999, looks "better" than 4,199,999,999 or 4,2xx,xxx,xxx or just letting it roll over.
Having a counter stop with lots of 9s in it gives it that old-school arcade feel, and I can see Cave totally doing that on purpose just for that reason.
