I would be satisfied with the PowerA Fusion (Saturn Style) that i have, if it had a touchpad, since it is used to enter the ACA menus...(no problem with M2 games).
I thought i'd be better off with the Saturn-style D-Pad, but instead i discovered that i prefer the classic D-Pad...now i use a Hori Onyx+
I don't know whether to switch to the Hori Octa Commander or not...because the buttons on the Fusion are fantastic! While those of the Octa Commander are clickable and i don't know if this is the case...since you usually keep the auto-fire pressed all the time :|
Even the stupid Nacon that they sell in many colors isn't bad at all, large buttons and pleasant D-pad, L1/R1 and the analogue sticks are crap insted
In the end, if the PS Mini Classic Pads worked on other playstations, i would use those.

Yeah I wish I had this one. But it's already like three digits used. Probably four digits new lol.
Dreampad...maybe find one like this :?

I have a cheap hori controller for my switch that's complete garbage. Nobody should ever buy them. They break down regularly and the dpads are complete ass with constant false diagonals. Stick drift too.

https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch- ... 905&sr=8-5

^This is the horipad that you SHOULD NOT BUY. DO NOT FALL FOR THE CHEAP PRICE. It is shit!
I used to like these, as I like big, round d-pads. I thought I would hate it due to the detachable nature of the pad, but that ended up being a feature rather than a bug as you can just remove the pad when playing something that cancels diagonals (ie Qix, etc)

With that said, my first lasted about two years before the drift became un-fixable with tv tuner. The one I replaced it with starting drifting in two weeks. I returned it, and it's replacement started drifting in like two days.

Hm, a rare mid-90s Tecmo. God damn, the two dudes holding out for ACA Ganbare Ginkun are getting punished these last several years.

Hang in there bros. ;w;7 The Angel Eyes dudes eventually saw relief!

...I suppose I just got PWNed too, still holding out hopes for Final Star Force, Pleiades, and Phoenix. (whether the latter arrives via Tecmo or Taito) And Riot! Dunno if that one's even possible, unreleased IIRC, but stranger wonders have happened in ACA.

Still, Tecmo are as consistent as they come, and I like having diehard block sorters about.

My vague guesses are sort of coming true. :D Tinkle Pit a while ago, rare dev (Tecmo) appearance now, beltscroller The Ninja Kids coming up soon.

Sturmvogel Prime wrote: Wed Aug 07, 2024 8:01 amWith Tecmo as the "company of the week", we can only expect one thing: Namco is next.
The current four-game cycle has had Namco (VS Valkyrie's Advenure), Konami (Final Round), and now Tecmo (Stackers)... so if the usual trend stands, a Taito game will close out this set next week on the 15th.

We might see Taito two weeks in a row, since The Ninja Kids was already announced for the 22nd and would be the first game of a new set of 4. Or it might just be one of the infrequent deviations from the usual formula, like this set getting an extra 5th game from the likes of Allumer or NMK.

Would love to optimistically moot Athena's JJ Squawkers, but something tells me Dragon Unit takes chronological precedence. Win some lose some I guess... at least Rastan beat its less titanic sequel by a few months.

Imagine the weekly ACA will just go on forever *_*

Imagine how many games they will have released in 10 years! Thousands maybe! Or even more! Because it's one every week!

I hope it will always be on the PS4. I don't want to buy a new console anymore.

I missed this post. Yeah, I'm on my 2nd of these shitty horipads. The first one just straight-up broke. A family member had one that I think also broke. I bought a replacement and it sucks too.

I made the mistake of buying a 2nd horipad after the first one broke. Don't be like me. Incidentally, when I say "broke" I don't mean the stick drifts. I mean it just went completely fucking dead. The one I have now sometimes fails to connect to the switch properly. Just a matter of time until it's complete garbage as well.

Don't repeat my mistakes, folks. Don't buy horipads. These things are landfill-flooders.

I hope we get ACA Rastan 3 soon.

Gonna go slightly off topic because this is a Rastan-friendly zone: just a PSA that Volgarr the Viking II released yesterday. We've mentioned it here before as a game that is basically an homage to Rastan. Played a short while last night, it's good stuff.

Weird hearing this about Horipads. I have some of them for various systems (granted, not the one mentioned here) and I've always been very happy with them. Got several of New Hori Commander joypads for the Famicom, and a couple of the EX Turbo pads...which I also use for Famicom playing.

I just got credit for the second one I had to return and used it towards one of these

It's a little screwy in that the disc d-pad sits on top of a cross (rather than the hori which was inset), but so far so good (I'm unable to give it the strongest of endorsements, as I've only had it a week)

Obviously, Hori is starting to cut corners in order to meet a predetermined price point, which kind of bums me out as they used to be a brand that would guarantee quality

My impression of Hori is their more expensive controllers are still solid enough. I'd be seriously pulling shit out of my ass to speculate, but if I were... I would say that within the $20ish price point targeted by the low-end hori controllers, they probably don't have any alternative but to fill the guts of the thing with the cheapest of cheap chinese junk electronics, which are all but guaranteed to wear out after even mild use.

I know some people with 8bitdo controllers (in the lower range of price, although still more expensive than cheapo horipad) who are happy with those. I don't have a personal experience with them. My split pad pro has been great and probably any of the higher end hori controllers are too.

Subdued sarcasm / irony or similar finetuned joke posting does not work very well with internet forums, you know, because people can't see your face when you are typing or hear the tone of your voice. Even emojis can carry you so far.
BIL does master it though, because he is so over the top that even the weirdest freaks here can't possibly think he's serious.

Nah, tone is really kinda difficult to discern in posts, especially if you're joking or being sarcastic at times. Wouldn't say it was that obvious, smileys help with that I think. Don't be afraid to plaster your post with them to set the tone :V

Hahaha - to be sure, I don't mind at all and totally got that Arino was joking around. Glad that the link was posted to the actual Volgarr topic. I just figured that this is still a great place to call out a good Rastan-like for maximum visbility (and like, we actually talked about Volgarr in this particular topic several times in recent months due to the Rastan additions to Arcade Archives). IMO, even if people did get actually upset at it being kinda off topic, that's a risk well worth taking in order to achieve the noble pursuit of telling more people about good Viking Action games!

Besides, slow week. I got nothing to say about Tecmo Stackers.

I'd forgotten how goddamn comfy ACA Cybattler's control setup is. :O Now your badass ASSAULT FRAME can not just Lock Shot, but Lock Slash, too! Of course you want to take advantage of the free 8way movement, as well.

Image Image Image

What a rad game :O Shock Troopers x Hyper Duel. They also fixed the janky HS name cursor :3 I wonder why those seem so common with arcade games... Saigo no Nindou's is a laggy nightmare, if the character controlled like that, it'd be a DISASTUH.

I've been meaning to give this one its due. Just so many great games on ACA alone, without even factoring in M2, at which point you have the single buffest arcade lineup ever seen on consoles. This is why I've little shrift for the Namco Bird thing. If there isn't something here you could put a little more time on, you're either a god gamer who rinses coinops week in / week out... or perhaps, you merely lack inspiration. Image Image

Hamster's ACA of Tecmo Stacker from Tecmo (circa 1995) did not get a proper USA arcade pcb release -- it appears to be a Sega/Compile arcade Puyo-Puyo knock-off/clone arcade puzzler with some novel twists 'n' spins to deviate/differentiate from the classic gameplay of Puyo-Puyo. It does have proper online leaderboards, especially with the Switch port of ACA Tecmo Stackers.

It'd sure be nice if Hamster did a proper ACA release of Seibu Kaihatsu's arcade SPI-based Senkyu/Battle Balls arcade puzzler (also released simultaneously in both Japan & the USA back in 1995 courtesy of American Seibu arcade licensee, Fabtek) -- is highly regarded as an arcade puzzler classic nowadays with it's challenging and fast paced game mechanics & gameplay, indeed. My local local arcade hangout, The Electric Underground which later moved to a different location under the name of Nickel Play, had a Low Boy arcade cab setup with Battle Balls up & running from 1995 to 1998 -- so yes, I was well versed/acquainted with Battle Balls alrighty.

I had to get a USA region Seibu Kaihatsu SPI motherboard & Battle Balls SPI cart to properly play it as it was originally intended to be played in the arcades (once the Nickle Play arcade shut it's doors for good back in May of 1998). I was hoping that Battle Balls would be released for the U/C NTSC based PSX/PSone console but it never materialized/happened (despite it attaining "cult status" within the arcade gaming community back in 1995). Eventually, I learned that Seibu Kaihatsu, themselves, did release Senkyu (which I do own) for the JPN region PSX console back in 1996 with proper saving of both high scores & high score initials via PSX memory card.

There's a a bunch of color variants, and even two different models. The newer Split Pad Pro Compact is especially nice, and has one the best d-pads on the system.
