Nah, that was a joke. It's called Macross Scrambled Vaklyrie. And it's very good. If you can find it it is a must buy. The post to which PaCrappa linked says this about it:

Actually, both have been mentioned, though in slightly different forms. ;)

Thats a hell of alot of games to go through, I think its incredible how in todays world you can stick hundred of games for multiple consoles on a laptop and play em anywhere. kicks handhelds imho. In theory if each game you had was originally bought for say £30, a million pounds worth of game software on a computer would be feasible.

Never played a metroid game. so I'll have to see what the RPG comparison is like. About 70% of those titles I've never heard of, this weekend is going to be interesting.

Cheers for the lists guys, Think thats enough to keep me going!

Enough already. The Metroid games are action-adventures (like Prince of Persia, Flashback, and Out Of This World), not RPGs!

Super Metroid would be a hard game to control using the keyboard. It is a good free form adventure game but if you get stuck it can get very frustrating. Also, if you have the album Led Zeppelin IV, listen to it while you're playing. The music fits the game perfectly somehow.

Sorry, I don't play games like that so to me Metroid is adventure, but to be right I should've said action-adventure, very sorry.

It's pretty clear that bwod1e was speaking figuratively, folks. As someone who has a deep understanding of - and attachment to - what this series is about, or was once about (if I do say so myself! :P), I obviously appreciate that none of the Metroid games are RPGs as far as the narrow thinking behind genre-labelling is concerned. Again, my comments were simply affirming that Super Metroid almost inadvertently captures a lot of what people look for in that genre with great finesse. I haven't elaborated on those points purely because there are a lot of RPG fans here who would doubtless think that I'm asserting their favourite games are somehow redundant.

Anyone wishing to discuss the series further might want to check out IGN's Metroid board. There are quite a few us there who like to discuss in detail the series' art direction, gameplay, music and... well, everthing else. I realize how horrifically snobbish and conceited that sounds, but there's really no elitism involved. In fact, most of the folks who regularly post there are quite eager to share their understanding of this franchise's artistic vision with the new kids on the block, with their shiny copies of Hunters and machine-gun volleys of bewildered questions...

You may ecounter just a little bit of anti-Prime bias from the likes of me, though.

I thought Monkey Island is interactive story. Those "Look ***", "Get ***", "Go North/South/East West" text base games, which you just type the command at the command prompt. :?

Well, those games are referred to as "graphical adventures" here in the US. Then again, even text-based games like Zork are still known as "text-based adventures."

You're thinking of text adventures. Monkey Island is a "point and click" style graphical adventure; same basic concept, but with a GUI ;)

Oh, those you move the mouse pointer around the screen slowly, keeping a close eye on the sharp of the cursor, trying to find out what could be cliked on. Then try to use every items within your inventory. Repeat all these steps when you access to the next screen. :x

These kind of game bored me to death, but my sister love them.

Wild Guns is just about the best game of our time. Classic, thru and thru.

Super Ghouls and Ghosts, my favorite chapter of the series.

The Firemen is essential.

I bought a few dozen games for the system the past few weeks, I think I'm set for life.
