So these games have higher resolutions (576i) on the PAL versions? And you can force them into 576p via Swiss?

Yes and yes. It's 640x480 or 640x448 NTSC versus 640x528 PAL.

not really worth it for 3 games IMHO, but good info :)

But getting back to the initial question, to get 480p (with NTSC games) via the gcvideom would I notice any difference between a NTSC cube or a modded/swiss PAL cube?

Some games apply deflickering regardless of 480p, so they don't really look any better than in 480i. This can be overridden with Swiss.

The Game Boy Player Start-up Disc is infamous for this.
