Suggestion for DFK Steam... please do whatever you can to make the arranged soundtrack from the iOS port available! Optional DLC? I'm sure it's a love it or hate it soundtrack, but I REALLY love it and would be thrilled to be able to play the game with that soundtrack with non-touchscreen controls. Would be good DLC too since I'm sure a lot of Arcade/PCB and console only players may not have experienced it yet.

Yes, I really enjoyed the soundtrack of the mobile port, would be great to hear it on a "proper" version of the game

Nah it will be Galuda II.

They don't really have a strategy other than porting games that already have had western console/mobile releases, hoping for a percentage of 'retuning customers'.

I thought pretty much all of shmupsfarm by now would have caught that we're not the target.

But Mushi was their first game, and it's region-locked.
The fact that it's the only one that IS a JP-only game... That's another thing.

Remember the mobile games, and think of each game name as a brand.

I love the DFK iOS OST but cheery hard-rockin' pop is about the last sort of music I'd expect to hear for Hibachi.

Haha, that sounds more like something you'd hear after defeating Hibachi.

I think that's an option in the iOS version, there's an option called "wait control" and it says something about "experience the bullet hell with no limits". Never actually tried it myself though so I'm not 100% sure that's what it means.

It really removes slowdown everywhere in iPhone 4S and newer. Why this option actually exists - in iPhone 3GS/4 this game have slowdowns without any slowdown emulation just because iPhone 3GS/4 is not enough powerful. So for iPhone 3GS/4 recommended option is "disable wait control" and for newer devices is "enable wait control" because on older devices it's own slowdowns + emulated slowdowns = ... it's "amazing".

Nice to see that Cave releases more PC ports, but if not ketsuipachi is coming to I think I'll stick with the 360 port.
Still glad to see we still getting more ;D

The 360 port of 1.5 is actually pretty much identical to the PCB except for the slowdown being different in one part of stage 5.

This is basically the game I was hoping would be released first. No more need to boot the 360, too. Since i can do side-by-side testing as well as testing on several types of PC hardware, I'm open to beta work if needed.

Now I'm just hoping this'll have all the DLC intact (especially Black Label Arrange)...

I'm happy they're releasing more games. I already own DFK too but for the new audience is a very nice game to give a try!
I'll buy it on Steam to support devs anyway.

On a side note: OMFG I'm so sad I don't own a PS4... Dammit I want Dangun Feveron on PC too!!

Going to be a bit more time before I can get some of the information on included modes/dlc, as Golden Week just started in Japan. Will get info as soon as I can though.

Anyone want to undertake the task of writing up a guide on each mode's mechanics, both survival and scoring, and post it to the Steam guides section when it shows up? I dare say that DFK is the most incomprehensible Dodonpachi game, and it'd be helpful for many people, myself included.

So is there a reason Ketsui and DOJ aren't viable? They're the only region locked non-localised 360 Cave left after Mushi (did Deathsmiles 2 get localised? I don't really care for the style anyway). It'd be nice to see stuff that hasn't already been widely available get a PC release.

Ultimately I have these games on 360 and wouldn't go in for a PC release that isn't DRM free. Shame GoG weren't interested really. It'd be nice to see unported and previously region locked games eventually but appreciate why quickie 360 ports are the best starting points for PC.

It's probably a bit more complicated because Cave didn't do the ports for those two; they were done by 5pb.

You could use the Hardcore Gaming 101 article on DFK as a base. The explanation on all the mechanics gives me an incredible headache every time I try to read it. Props to the madman who sat down and tried figuring out all the mechanics of each mode, but I'd rather appreciate something more concise.

I was under the impression that 5pb owned the rights to the Ketsui and DOJ ports, and wouldn't give them up/license them out without a sizable cash infusion - probably too much to make a profit, considering I would bet that CAVE would have done so by now.

As mentioned, DOJ and Ketsui I likely may still have licensing issues with the company that handled publishing the 360/PS3 ports of it. Not sure about mobile, but DS2 was released on XBox Arcade as an import, meaning all the text and everything were the original Japanese. Basically it was no different than other region-free games like Futari and Espgaluda II.

My guess is they're going to finish releasing whatever games got localized (even on mobile) first, then the region free games, and then finally region-locked. I could be wrong though.

but degica already have established a relationship with 5pb in porting phantom breaker to PC, though the DOJ port is probably untouchable due to the arika stolen code issue.

Didn't realise they were in with 5pb. I wouldn't say no to the updated Bullet Soul.

Good call. Seems like a natural for a Steam release.

I'm still a little sore that the "un-suck" patch came out after the game went out of print, effectively fucking over the "I'll wait until it's patched to buy it" camp, but I suppose that can't be helped.
