They need to translate a lot of shit and dialogs if they want to release SDOJ worldwide. So that's a no.

Glad you guys like the RefRain choice. Our producers really enjoyed it. I actually got to play it for the first time at the booth myself and man it was fun.

On the Cave title, I can't wait to announce it myself. I think some people are going to be super pleased with it.

Maybe it's SDOJ because I can't imagine anyone being super pleased with DFK!

They didn't have to with Mushihimesama though
still, you could probably subtitle sdoj in a day if it was absolutely required, it really isn't that much dialogue compared to RPGs and stuff

These ports aren't really aimed at double-dippers so in that sense it doesn't really matter if they're repeats or not, even though they do take that into account. (In a recent interview they also acknowledged that the international audience is far less enthused about ports and re-releases than the Japanese audience.)

I would be shocked if SDOJ PC was even 1:1 with the X360 port, let alone better/fixed.

RefRain was basically the one game I hoped for as soon as this wave of Steam releases started. I was going to need a translation to know what I'm doing!

I checked the developer's website and saw that they're selling guides for other doujin devs to design more professional packaging. What a great idea.

SDOJ is zzz for me (hell, I'd rather play the original DonPachi), but I suppose if it'll get people to throw money at Degica and CAVE then I'm happy for them. Personally I'm hoping for DFK 1.5 (if only for the arrange modes) and DFKBL (I know some people want to play Ketsui mode but don't want to deal with modified or Japanese 360s).

Totally hype for RefRain though. I actually saw it being carried by Kinokuniya in SF once, amidst all the Touhou games.

Throw another thumbs-up on the pile from me (I actually own a physical copy, but will support this release too). One question though - will you be making the OST available as well? There are relatively few shooters whose soundtracks I consider worth listening to on their own, but IMO this is one of them.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was made available as well in the form of Steam DLC, though I'm just basing that off of their Crimzon Clover release.

I thought Cave didn't own the rights for Progear. Isn't that why there is no 360 version of it? Would love an HD version of that. The MAME version doesn't look bad but the sound is pretty crappy.

yea... I'm pretty sure it would be up to capcom, but I can dream.

It'd at least give me a reason to get rid of the pcb since I hate tating my monitor.

Ok, so just got back from PAX East, saw my bed for the first time in about a week last night, which was an awesome sight.

But PAX East was a blast, we had so much fun announcing RefRain, and showing off all our shmups to a ton of people. And almost everyone seemed excited to get to demo them. I like to think that during the show, we left a super positive impression on the general gaming community of how awesome shooters can be. We also got to meet quite a few super shmup fans.

I know at least one group came over that said they were specifically from the forums here, so hi! And I had a good time talking to him, also, I hope he had an awesome time talking to James Wragg, our super shooter expert who showed him RefRain. We also had a CAVE superfan who just busted our score attacks competitions for Deathsmiles, it was amazing watching him play. Not sure if he is a member here as well, but if he is, hello to you as well.

Anyway, a few more days until the CAVE game announcement. Just thought I would give a quick recap of the PAX East experience for us.

Nice that you had a good time at PAX Nick :D, could you please ask your devs why the GOG version of Crimzon Clover has not yet been updated ?

Absolutely. We have a production meeting in like, a little over an hour, I'll bring it up there.

Glad you guys had a good time. Isn't James one of the Dariusburst CS devs? Cool, that he joined you for Pax.

He left Pyramid and we picked him up just recently at Degica. He really really knows his stuff. It was fun to talk to him about all of our shooters, I learned a lot from just hearing him explain the games to everyone at the show.

Imagine a port of Ibara or pink sweets(unlikely) but what else could it be if its not a DDP game or sequel to Mushi?
Excited though!

Last go around, I was hoping for DDP DFK Black Label, and got DeathSmiles instead. Not the game I was hoping for, but I was okay with it. I bought that on launch regardless and played frequently enough to 1CC the game, which made me like DS much more than I did initially, so that balanced out.

Those were my hopes last time. Assuming this is a DDP going by the info spilled, this time around, I want DFK Black Label. Specifically for the reasons Bananamatic mentioned. KetsuiPachi hasn't been made available outside of JP territory, and I'd still very much like to play that. Also, as this would likely present another opportunity to get an OST with a Cave game, this is the one OST I absolutely must have (maybe KetsuiPachi's as well).

Between DFKBL and SDOJ, I want the former first. SDOJ looks nice, but the overall style (music, visuals) doesn't grab me as much as DFKBL's. I can wait another season or two to get an SDOJ port.
