XRGB-mini Framemeister
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
That is a strange method for implementing scanlines. I wonder why they didn't just offer a simpler method of adjusting a scanline based on the number of vertical pixels per line and a transparency (intensity) percentage.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
basically that's what they're doing. They simply accomodate the two main cases, one being integer scaling so each pixel got the same height, the other being a non-integer but regular pattern on the individual heights of the pixel rows.I wonder why they didn't just offer a simpler method of adjusting a scanline based on the number of vertical pixels per line and a transparency (intensity) percentage.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Sorry if this is not the right place to post this question about getting a signal TO my Framemeister.
I have a Sony pvm 20m2u. I am hooking up a console via RGB SCART and a SCART to BNC break out cable. It works great. Now I would like to also pass through using the RGB BNC out and send it to my Framemeister.
I have another SCART to BNC breakout cable. However when I hook it up to the RGB BNC out and then use a SCART male to SCART make cable to bring it to my Framemeister, nothing happens. Hooking up my console straight into my Framemeister works fine.
Is there "directionality" to the SCART to BNC cable such that I can't use it in reverse for the PVM out? Or am I just missing some sort of setting on the PVM?
Thanks so much!

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
So my apologies if this is already known and well-explored, but I noticed a couple things about 1080p scanlines I hadn't really understood the behavior of before:
1. The Framemeister will switch to "INT" mode scanlines when it detects the various zoom and visual set functions are within close proximity of an integer of the source input. I realized how the behavior worked when I decided to revamp all the pS2 profiles with uniform scanlines (soon to be released). Any time the image is zoomed/shrunk to a non-integer scale of the source image, the scanline mode switches to "DEC". As such, I'm thinking "INT" stands for Integer, and "DEC" stands for Decimal. Now what's interesting is how the Framemeister only requires a certain proximity to an integer scale to put the scanlines in INT mode, meaning it doesn't have to be a perfect integer scale, but pretty close to it. However, the scanlines will still look slightly off if the image isn't perfectly set to an integer scale, so it's still important to get this correct. In summary, if you're getting the DEC scanline options instead of INT, it means your image isn't scaled to an integer, and your scanlines will look unattractive (at least in 1080p output).
2. 480i is treated as a 240p image by the scanline function in 1080p output, and as a result the scanlines are too far apart. This may be either a bug or an oversight.

Took 5 hours to knock out, but I finished the suite of PS2 profiles that now have options for sharp, blurred, Widescreen, and the same for RGB output. The new widescreen profiles no longer need the display set to wide mode. All the PS2 profiles are now scanline friendly. Package is already uploaded and ready for download.

SCART cables are directional. You'll either have to purchase a BNC-to-SCART cable, or open up the SCART connector and, using a soldering iron, remove everything from the input pins and connect them to the output pins (Google up a SCART connector diagram for which pins are which).lilralphie wrote:Sorry if this is not the right place to post this question about getting a signal TO my Framemeister.

Haha! I used tape too, although not in terms of the XRGB but to create a secondary Adjustments profile on my Sony BVM 20F1E. This profile perfectly stretches old, unadapted PAL sources (240p in a 288p signal) to proper full screen without those fat PAL bars at the top and bottom.Cosmonal wrote:LOL tape on TV here too, since day one using the XRGBFBX wrote: LOL tape on the screen! Still searching around for a proper profile for the TG16/PC-E.. going to try the one on the previous page.. FBX, any plans to make one? I could be convinced to loan my PC-E if needed.

These are my two settings, depending on which game. They are not perfect (as in the scanline test), but at least i got all pixels tight to the borders of my screen. Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Eventually I'll break down and buy a PC-Engine Duo-R. It's just a bit expensive to buy one just to make profiles for it. Now I will say the PSP profiles were made because one of the guys at My Life in Gaming actually loaned me one through the mail so I could make the profiles. He already has it back. So just putting it out there that if someone really wants scanline friendly TG-16/PCE profiles, I have no problem taking a loaner and then mailing it back when completed.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Don't have to go full Duo for profiles.. just grab a Jap PC Engine, should be <$50, you'll need to RGB mod it anyways similar to N64.. and output should be identical to Duo..
Also, hit up KeithCourage on the PCEngineFX forums, he sells refubed Duos and Briefcases for cheap. Maybe he'd give you an extra discount because you do the profiles.. I don't know.

Anybody has any info about the different resolution outputs of the PCEngine? I've tried many games on the PCE (also the Super CDROMS) and i can't get a grip on the overscan borders
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
FBX, I've noticed your H and V Scaler settings are backwards for your PS2 profiles. 480i/p games should be 7 and 4 while it's 240p games that should be 4 and 7.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
been some time since I last tried, but I think you can use 240p-like settings for 480i/p if you're aiming at integer scaling. You can easily check with the standard x2 preset versus the standard fullscreen preset.FBX, I've noticed your H and V Scaler settings are backwards for your PS2 profiles.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
If you review the list, I offer "sharp" and "blurred" versions of every PS2 profile (except PS1 mode). The "sharp" ones use 4 and 7, while the "blurred" ones use 10 and 5 (and a sharpness value of 1).austin532 wrote:FBX, I've noticed your H and V Scaler settings are backwards for your PS2 profiles. 480i/p games should be 7 and 4 while it's 240p games that should be 4 and 7.

I've played around with a Turbografx16 a lot. To use FBX syntax, I've made these 5x and 4x 1080p profiles. Scanlines are fine in both.
I personally prefer 5x. The screen is lightly larger horizontally but scanlines are great. As you noted hotizontal resolution changes from game to game. The wiki notes horizontal resolution can be 282, 377 or 565. I used the 240p grid test patterns to center the screen as best I could. I then played games with different resolutions.
See what you think and let me know what changes / improvements should be me.

I'm note quite sure how I arrived there , but I really like these 1080p 5x settings. Scanlines look great. Profile link below.

I know but setting V Scaler to 7 causes problems with 480i/p games and creates an un-even scaling effect. Most games look really nice with the 4x or 5x profile, however some still show the overscan (for instance the selection menu in Rondo Of Blood).
With the 5x profile a few pixels get cut off (try Dynastic Hero).
I'll make some screenshots when i get my capture device in a couple of days.
But thank you so much for these, these are great! Way better than my settings

Will the FBX Profile make a difference and is there a link to them? I've tried searching.

Note that these are only for NTSC systems... They worked for me (i'm on PAL too), but you need to adjust the zoom settings to fit the screen.
Thanks for the profiles but they haven't made any difference! No picture at all until I turn Sync off
I had the PS1 working ok then tried it a few days later and back to the same flicker. Its driving me mad! I'm inputting via RGB Euro Scart
I have uploaded a short clip to Youtube - https://youtu.be/mqIbA7ScmVY
Thanks, Andy
I thought I would try one of these - https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/eur ... 1-for-sale
It worked! no more flicker. I didn't think I would need one as the firmware on the xrgb is up to date at 2.02 and shouldn't need this cable!
I contacted Solaris who I bought it from and sent them the video link and they were sending everything I said to Micomsoft. They didn't seem to know what the problem was!
I am now enjoying all my PAL consoles

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Errm, the adapter that the framemeister ships with is for JP21 cables, not SCART cables. They're physically the same, but electrically different, it's not a matter of firmware. If you want to use a SCART cable with the framemeister, you need the SCART adapter. AFAIK no firmware update for the framemeister ever has or will change this fact, you can't use a SCART cable with the JP21 adapter.

Cool glad you got to the bottom of the issue. You probably should send that information to Solaris so they know what the problem was.
