God yes. Profile pic related. I'll buy 5 copies, Degica person. Please just make it happen.

The only thing I dislike about the near perfect 360 version of Aces is that the leaderboards expire and erase scores. Completely retarded. There's only like 20 scores posted for Raiden Fighters 2. It sucks :(

That might seem superficially true, but you can't really know without studying the game. Dariusburst does a few things right, such as the (fixed) Burst not being nearly as overpowered.

Throwing the original DB to Steam for like $9.99 does not sound half bad. However, they would probably need to work in some of the SP content, and I think Burst behaves like DBAC in SP, so...

Blackbird - since you guys are in contact with Taito, is there any interest from either side in rereleasing the PC ports of Darius Gaiden, G-Darius, or the other Taito shmups that had Windows ports back in the day?

(Ideally these would include Extra/Ver.2 revisions, which I don't think the original releases did - but some release at all would be nice)

About the Eschatos port: I don't know if it's a silly quirk with my old laptop or an issue with the game, but too often when I turn the resolution to 800*600, the refresh rate gets set at 75Hz. The same happens when I change it from desktop, and I have to manually change it to 60Hz and it keeps that way in Eschatos, fortunately.

Would it be possible to make the game force 60Hz when changing resolution?
If watching the trailer of the game
makes you feel a certain way
I would be very happy if
you would give the game a try

Maybe the pseudo-MAME-d Raiden Legacy emulation isn't an obstacle to bringing the Xbox 360 Raiden Fighters Aces developed by Gulti to PC. Gulti doesn't stake any claim to RFA so its development may have been financed by Success Corporation (of Psyvariar fame). I suspect the PAL contingent would be quite eager for a decent PC RFA to mitigate the curse on the PAL Tradewest/DTP Entertainment vapourware. RFA's North American localizer Valcon Games seems to have gone defunct (at least their website seems to be no longer operational).

The iOS Raiden Fighters Aces 2014 seems to be entirely unrelated.

I don't know if this is the proper place for it, but this post got lost in the DBCS topic:

For Original mode, is it possible to have the UI elements placed into the blank space outside of the game screen: e.g. the burst meter underneath the screen a la CS mode, and some of the other elements (score, text etc.)? The Saturn port of Darius II did this to increase visibility of the playing field. Perhaps this can also be done with the ship selection text, which is hard to read on a screen as is. I suppose this depends on how 'arcade-accurate' the game software is running on steam.

Other minor things:
-removing the glut of logos starting up Original mode; you already see them when you boot up the game
-using Esc or backspace to go back from the ship selection/stage select to mode select.

I am pretty happy with DBCS, and I hope it is making a splash with Steam users - I am sure some holiday sales will also increase interest as well.

Haven't heard anything from Taito. I think this would be really cool, though.

Blackbird, could you ask Zuntata to reveal themselve a bit more?

On their site it is stated that they had some kind of concert named Zuntata Night Event which was streaming for ?japanese twitch alternative?
Why don't them upload it or excerpts to their youtube channels? Would be great to actually watch how they perform Darius songs.

Also, i know there was a very limited DVD release of their Another Chronicle related concert.. Which is impossible to buy now unless someone on Yahoo! Actions would sell that.

Why

Japanese

Frankly, if Degica was to try and do anything with other Taito games, I'd like to see a Taito Legends 3 on PC with the rest of the "Memories" arcade games that weren't in the PC versions of Legends 1 and 2.

Too late for this http://store.steampowered.com/app/407600/ I hope it doesn't nullify the chances of raiden aces release on pc. Looks like it's not exactly the same: 1 - 2 simultaneous players (local + online), remastered HD soundtrack for Raiden Fighters 1 & 2 and Raiden Fighters Jet, TATE support, online leaderboards. Maybe some of this was in the previous release but i don't think it had online coop.

Several patch updates tonight:

DariusBurst Chronicle Saviours V1.00 rev 4614
  • The refresh rate has been locked to 60 fps to prevent excessive speed on monitors with refresh rates higher than 60Hz.
  • Corrected the behaviour of the "Wave" weapon in CS mode. The weapon was incorrectly piercing through boss enemies instead of colliding with them as intended.
(Only Origin and Gaiden were working correctly before)
  • Corrected an error where the burst gauge would not fill up when attacking boss enemies in CS mode.
  • Corrected the text in some scenes where it extended beyond the dialogue window.
Mushihimesama V1.1.6.1
  • Optimizations to reduce or eliminate microstuttering/frame hitching.
  • Corrected a visual error that would cause the true last boss health bar to display incorrectly in V1.5 Ultra mode.
  • Added support for fullscreen tate (vertical aspect ratios) on 3:4 and 9:16 monitors. You can adjust this using the "Aspect Ratio" setting. Support for 16:10, 5:4, 4:5, and 10:16 aspect ratios is planned for a future update.
  • Added a dead zone setting for direct input controllers (joystick adjustment).
  • Modified the Replay menu to show local replays and replays downloaded from the leaderboards in different colors.
DeltaZeal V1.03
  • You can now record replay videos longer than 30 minutes (up to 60 minutes).
  • Added a Fast Forward feature to replay playback. Use the "X" button to toggle fast forward on and off.
  • Corrected an error where the keyboard would start both P1 and P2 at the same time.
  • Optimized text display so menus and leaderboards should be more responsive.
  • Corrected an error that could occur when accessing an empty leaderboard.

I tried Mushihimesama. The display no longer fills the full screen at 1366x768, but the actual game area seems to be the same size. A minor thing, just a bit odd. I'm guessing it's displaying at 1280x720. Game runs smooth both with and without V-Sync and I didn't notice any stuttering.

Great update for Mushi, glad I don't have to use GeDoSaTo any more. One niggle is the game seems to upscale from it's native 720p using a blur filter, could an ini option be added to upscale using nearest neighbor instead?

Patches all three versions, right? (Steam, PS4, Vita)

They could do this, but if you don't go in exact increments of whole numbers of magnitude (i.e. x2.38475 instead of x2) the pixels will not look square; they won't even be uniform.

I know, I still think it looks better. Obviously true support for variable resolutions is preferable but I don't know how realistic that request is.

The same thing happens on my laptop, also 1366x768, but not on my desktop (1920x1080). I'm guessing it's because 1366x768 isn't exactly 16:9.

Silently? What does that mean, having to redownload the game to get the updated version, rather than an auto-downloaded patch?

Steam should keep your games up to date, either when you launch Steam or when you launch the game, depending on your settings. In fact, under normal circumstances I don't think there's even a way to launch a game without updating it to the latest version. Maybe you're in offline mode and you need to go online?

I've had about six games get updated since Blackbird posted about the updates to Mushi, Darius and Delta (including Descent: Underground early this morning). I believe it's safe to say I'm not in offline mode.

Did you manage to launch one of them without it updating? If you don't have a game set to update at high priority they may not update for a while unless you try to start them.

A couple of days ago my antivirus (avast) labeled steam.exe as a virus and blocked all kinds of updates.
Had to get it out of quarantine manually and that fixed everything.

I was playing DariusBurst this morning. I've actually played it twice since Blackbird's post, and nothing was ever downloaded.

It's probably been raised already, but is Raystorm HD a possibility for a Steam release?
