Probably no way to know for sure until someone decides to drop some money to find out.

My money's on unlikely, but you never know, I guess.

It won't let you download if it's incompatible with your console or region, so there shouldn't be any risk in trying.

Tried to download Mushi HD but I get this error

申し訳ありません
このコンテンツの地域コードは、お使いの本体の地域コードと異なるため、ご利用いただけません。

Basically the region code of the product doesn't match the region code of the console, so the content isn't available.

Pity...

I've got a J360 I can try out but adding money to Japanese account is black magic to me and I need to upgrade the hard drive on it somehow to fit it anyway (4GB slim).

Man that sucks. I'd really like to be able to play the original mushihimesama on something other than iPad. Thanks for letting us know endo.

Its too bad that the region-locked games don't work, that would have been quite nice.

Still curious if the region-free games would work, might be a better way to get some friends hooked up with a game or two.

The disc versions of Futari, MMP & PS, SDOJ, and ESPGaluda 2 (barring the discs produced for the limited edition packages?) are region-free.

Also, this made me realize I had forgotten to check ESPGaluda2, and sure enough, it's available digitally too: http://marketplace.xbox.com/ja-JP/Produ ... 02435a07d8

I can confirm that at least MMP/PS is region free and also not IP locked so anyone who wants to buy it can feel free to do so without issues. I would assume the other region free disc releases are the same way.

So can I assume that all I need to do is have a Japanese account and purchase a pre-paid Japanese live card?

Wait, did you actually download them? I thought GoD games are IP locked. I know I have a redeem code for, I think, Bullet Soul which I never was able to redeem on my JPN account/console, because it's IP locked.

Normally, to download GoD games, you need a JPN account, JPN console and a way to proxy through a Japanese IP.

I recently bought both Shooting Love 200X and Shooting Love 10th Anniversary on GoD, and 200X is both region- and IP-locked. I used one of these free VPNs to get it, after trying about three times normally and wondering why the download kept failing.
Ideally you want to download normally on your un-VPN'ed connection until about 70%, then switch on your VPN for the IP check at 80%. However, just to be safe, I downloaded the whole thing while connected to a VPN, which was excruciatingly slow, but it worked.

I did say they're not IP locked. I have the game on my console right now. I'm in Mexico. No VPN required. This is of course talking about MMP/PS since the thread's about CAVE games.

Shooting Love 10th Anniversary is also region free and not IP locked, since I also just bought that.

If you check Elixir's thread on NTSC-J 360 stuff you'll notice that all games have different types of locking or none at all.

Is Elixir's thread still updated on how to pay for games outside of Japan? It's not still possible to buy Live! Points cards, right?

I have a J360 and Japanese account and was able to download Mushi using a canadian credit card. I just had to make up a Japanese address.

Probably worth mentioning here, Shooting Love 200X is out on US/UK/EU XBL today.

Looks like they translated all the text into English too (judging by the promo-screen shots).

Here's the US marketplace link, for anyone else who's looking for it: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Produ ... 02544707d1

For $20, that's a no-brainer to me.

EDIT: I'm having trouble getting the purchase to go through right now. Guess I'll try again later.

Wait, the Japanese account accepted your credit card, and the game wasnt IP locked?

Edit: Ok, from the looks of it, I successfully added my Paypal account info to my Japanese account. Anyone know the list of Cave games that are IP locked?

Japanese accounts will accept any credit/debit card as long as you provide a "valid" Japanese address. The system doesn't check if the address matches the card, just the card details and whether the address is something valid.
I have my bank debit card linked to my XBLA account and can buy anything just fine. I used some random Tokyo address (I think it was for the Tokyo International Forum Hall, lmao).

Mushi Futari

Espgaluda 2

Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets

SDOJ

EDIT: ugh, I misread. Those listed above are the games that are region free.

Mushi HD, DFK Black Label, Deathsmiles 2, Ketsui and DOJ are region locked. I'm probably missing some, this is off the top of my head.

Thanks. So it looks like the IP region lock follows the disc region. If the original disc was region free, it's likely not IP region blocked.

This is not true. Futari on the HK store is IP-locked, despite being a region-free game.

Unless someone is willing to buy points and attempt to purchase JP GoD titles, nobody really knows if they're downloadable.
