Pokken looks weird, and at a first glance, it looks way too much like the CC2 Naruto games [hell, the scrolling nicovideo comments are peppered with people going "naruto?" in kana]. I'm optimistic though [although my optimism is entirely because arcade release].

also, that Heihachi Pikachu is perfect

oh, and the 10 years of hitstop needs to get shortened, holy crap
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I'm so happy its not a Tekken clone... Tekken is great and all but if I wanted to play Tekken I'd go and play Tekken.

This does look similar to Naruto but I'm okay with it as long as its not broken like it!

I'm tempted to pick up a copy just to reward Sega for its renewed localization chutzpah of recent years (without which we wouldn't have gotten Project Diva, among others)...not to mention that they could apparently use the money.

Fighting Game Hype Thread

Post Hype Moments from fighting games here!

I know a lot of us are into our fighters... and I love a sick montage from a tournament if it looks skillful or flashy. Either that or ridiculous commentary.

I'll start us off.

Marvel Vs Capcom 2 - Clockwork vs GoldenboyNeo highlights
>Don't even play Mahvel but this is amazing.

Obligatory Evo moment 37

Pretty much any of Maximillian Dood's Evo hype vids.

I always loved the extreme personality contrast in this Daigo vs Muteki ST match.

AI CORNER: here's a Tougeki vid where JP pros take on SFZ2, KOF '94 and Kaiser Knuckle bosses with the games' respective main characters. Brutal :o

Part 1
Part 2

Bonus:
gameoverDude wrote:Someone got General!
It took Team Mikado 15 tries but they did it using Wulong. Just goes to show that General's AI is not quite as flawless as thought.
Kaiser Knuckle : Mikado vs General ( 2014/02/04 )

Skip to 24:44 if you want to go straight to the General being slammed.
For fans of misheard fighting game voices, Li Hua's Iai Zan sounds like "Lights out!".

The conditions to reach General:
1) Have scored 900,000 points or higher after Azteca is defeated.
2) Have done this with no continues.

Now, FutileExistence does warn that it is hard to set a trap like this and that the General is able to learn to escape.

MVC2 Neo Vs Clockwork is still my favorite set ever.

(Actual fighting starts about here)

*edit* The highlights blinge posted are really good too.

The grand finals of the Blazblue tournament at EVO 2014 was really something to behold, not because of any particular moment or play but because of how the games progressed as a whole. Link

Haha BIL, i was expecting them to do a bit better against the AI! Rugal looks ridiculous, that's an infamous SNK boss i've heard so much about then..

Shepardus: Oh man yeah that set was a real nail biter. Dogura really choked at the end, i was rooting for him aswell.

Also..Noel.. your avatar makes me twitch.. my other half uses Noel and relentlessly spams drive at me, I've tried to replicate the mashing but it's never as fast. I've learnt to deal with it now however.

Yeah exactly and that's why I stay away from it.
Pretty daaaamn impressive stuff though. Slow motion really highlights the accuracy of some of these situations, and more smash-videos should do that

The previous games had poorer shading and PS2-quality models, hence take less effort to render.
? Dead or Alive 3 was freaking king of graphics in 2001 and DoA 4 while characters maybe couldnt impress you cause of that doll style etc., textures/details of arenas were just gorgeous not only for launch x360 title but in general.
Stages also have a lot more particles and lighting effects.
A phantom problem with DoA 5 stages are industrial and urban style they took. DoA 2/3/4 always impressed with their colourful arenas (especially when you do multistage jumpes/throws); DoA 5's at first glance could look "meh" and "ininspiring" - though layering of arenas is still here and also you now have more cool interactions with stage like those trains keep crashing or that Buddha's hand catching player.

You dug up an already resolved topic (that's already off-topic to begin with) about a game's performance to argue about its aesthetics. Just leave.

How's water shaders and texture details are aesthetics? (that's for older DoA's ratio of graphics they achieve/on hardware they are)

What about aesthetics, it's my statements about new character and about DoA 5's arenas which look to a bunch of people i noticed at many fighting-related sites being worse than older (lines like "gimme back awesome arena style we loved so much") while being technically more complex (as you pointed).
that's already off-topic
Is there a separate thread for DoA? Yet it's not offtop but a subdiscussion which was born due to "on top material"

Not sure if it really counts as "hype", but here's a highlight reel of some of Kusoru's Guilty Gear antics, with bonus HIGHEST LEVEL HNK YOMI at the end.
