If you change the zoom level to anything other than 100%, it should cause the extra UI junk to disappear. Changing the X/Y position or the rotation should probably work, too.

Can anyone recommend a Sega Saturn emulator that can run the original discs and supports save states?

Super Fantasy Zone is kicking my ass right now. I thought cute-em-ups were fun and easy?

I cant even get past the 5th stage, and it takes a while just to get back there. I tried practicing. Any tips?

silly debate i was having with a friend...can you claim to have 1cc'd a game if you only have beaten the first loop of a game? especially games where there is a definite end, like 2 loops of salamander 2. i claim that you have 1cc'd when you beat the first loop (of any game), and games that you totally complete are x/all, where x is the loop # of the last loop.

I would not call a 1-ALL in a multi-loop game a 1CC, no. It's an accomplishment, but not a clear (there's more game, bruh!).

For infinite looping games, I don't think it's even really possible to call anything a 1CC. heh...

Yeah I agree. 1-all is a milestone on the way to the clear, the ALL. Goes without saying that you need to actually play through the entire game to the end for it to be a clear.

Some games like Psikyo titles just let you proceed to the loop regardless of what happens so they don't really end until 2-ALL and in case of other games where you need to meet certain conditions to loop, you simply didn't qualify for the rest of the game and thus could not clear. In a sense you could say that not meeting the loop conditions is like a mercy kill on your run :P

In Futari BL God Mode, do the red/green gems give you more multiplier than normal amber? It seems like they're colored if you collect them fast enough similar to Original but I don't know if there's any significance in the colors; I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned in a guide.

It's all semantics imo. I include 1-ALLs in my 1cc list because it's still a "clear" of loop one. Also, loops are stupid anyhow. If you want a longer game then actually put more stages in it you lazy bastards. The harder content found in loops ought to just be separated into different modes imo. For people at the 2-ALL level, the first loops are usually a trivial waste of time anyhow.

The argument is that that when you're at 2-ALL level then you should be optimizing your scoring in the first loop. That if you actually play for score then the first loop will never get trivial because will be constantly doing something as optimally as you can. Not just playing through what is imo trivial survival. Thing is just, if you're NOT into chaining then well guess you're being bored for 30 minutes until the action starts. enjoy!

I do agree that the loops could do with being seperated into different difficulty settings but oh no, gotta be hardcore. Better be stupid than easy!

Alright.. this seems like the best place to ask.

How good is the emulation for Metal Slug 3? The arcade slowdown specifically. I want to know if it's a legit clear if I manage to 1cc it in MAME.

Isn't Neogeo emulation in MAME pretty much perfect? On the other hand, the Steam version of Metal Slug 3 doesn't seem to have a good reputation among enthusiasts due to various inaccuracies.

The Metal Slug 3 port on Steam is absolutely horrid (the sound emulation is extremely shoddy).
(...)

I haven't been able to find a SINGLE Youtube video where the sound is correct.

Many people here claim that the sound is fine in their machines, but none of them have recorded a video to prove it.
Alternatively, they have no idea how it should sound.
Because it is extremely noticeable if you have any experience with the arcade version.
In the reviews on Steam, people mention lag when playing online and frame rate hiccups. Somewhere I read that dotemu based this port on their Android port, which is alleged to be based on a modified version of MAME. Overall, the developer dotemu seems to have a really poor reputation, if you look around on the internet.

I'm looking into buying a used J-NTSC Xbox 360. Now, the issue is that there is the risk that the console might be banned from Xbox Live. How would this affect my ability to download patches? I assume leaderboards would be inaccessible, but would M$ block the console from getting software updates as well?

Red gems gives you more multiplier than the green ones.
Is it a matter of red=collected more quickly or is there something else that influences it? I've been trying to get a sense of it from videos, but a lot of cancels/kills seem to produce both regardless of how quickly they're sucked in.

Provided that you have a chaining bar:

When they spawn, they are of neutral color. The moment you suck them in, they are assigned a color. If you suck them in quickly after they spawn and you are close to them, they'll be assigned a red color. The ones that are further away from you will be assigned a green color. This is why you'll often see gems of both colors when you suck in gems from larger cancels. I personally try to sometimes do a little circle motion around the center of a large cancel just to generate as many red gems as possible.

If you do not suck the gems in quickly, they will become green regardless of how far away from you they are.

this is going to sound stupid but how to savestate and load a state properly on MAME? I press shift+f7 to save my state. I name the state. Then I press shift+f7 to go to the save state menu then press esc to go to the load state menu and load my state. But whenever I press shift it keeps on popping up the save state menu?

I would not worry about it. This is very unlikely.

Shouldn't the shortcut to load a state be simply F7, without Shift? At least in all the versions of MAME I've used, you just press F7 and press the key you saved the state to.

What version of mame are you using? Might be worth checking your key config too.
