Well shit, if it's got YOU playing games again, I really do need to get one of these ...

Also, Bravely Default
When I say 'playing', I mean I have played it a bit. Honestly haven't touched it in a week or 2

I did play a credit on Batsugun the other day though.

Grab one Jp XL from FS thread in another forum. Ran to store nearby to get Project Mirai 2 (LE with figurines and all those stuffs but that's another story then come to sudden realization that I go grab a game machine just because only one game again.

How was the game? so far this one got the best track line up in these Vocaloid games (for me at least) ,beat Vita version by miles in song list department (i like around 4 songs in that one, mostly weekender girl compared to more than 25 songs on 3ds version).

no,i still can't bring myself to play Mario/Zelda/Pokemon games yet ,now if only they made Space Invader Extreme 3 , Rhythm Tengoku or metroid games on this machine and i will be super happy with this impulsive purchase.

Yeah, I'm late to this thread.

Now that I live in Japan, I'm seriously hacked off about the region lock on this console. Any game with a significant amount of text goes out the window, seeing as it'll be in Japanese, and I'm still tackling the language. I actually bought a normal 3DS a few months back, but sold it 2 weeks later as I'm just too accustomed to my Vita's beautiful OLED screen. I also owned a 3DS 2 years ago, back when I was in the UK, but once I got the Vita, the thing never got played again so I sold it off.

However, I've been watching others play the LL on the trains in Tokyo, and games such as Monster Hunter don't look too bad.

I'm thinking of getting one of these for some good multiplayer gaming with some friends. I love the Vita, but there just aren't enough simple multiplayer Ad-Hoc games out for the system. I play Everybody's Golf, but titles such as Killzone Mercenary don't have ad-hoc mode. Shocking!

My fav games, when I was back in the UK, were Ridge Racer 3D, DOA Dimensions, Star Fox, and Kid Icarus' multiplayer (the single player sucks balls though). Mario Kart 7 was a serious let down, it must be said. That rubber band gameplay, and the lack of being able to customise what items are in your multiplayer races is now just beyond a joke.

If I do get a 3DS LL, I'll get one of those attachable handgrips, as I've done with the PS Vita. I wanna check out that Nano shmup game that's out. Looks pretty nice. I hope, in the future, we see a proper shmup ala something in the style of Caves games on the system in future.

The new Yoshi game's been reviewed. Expected it to get around 6-8, but really surprised it got a 4/10.

That is the only review that low isn't it? It seems like it is getting 6-8 most places. It seems a lot of people don't like the art style but I think it looks pretty good. I'm not sure if I want to pick it up or not yet but if I do I will get a free copy of Pokeman since I just registered my XL.

Never really dug Yoshi's Island the way I do other Mario IPs. But yeah, Yoshi's New Island doesn't look particularly compelling. The gyroscope sections alone make me kinda wince. I'd thought that Nintendo had learned from DKCR3D that people want their hardware gimmicks optional. Will probably get it in a bargain bin somewhere down the line, if Nintendo allows it to be bargain binned. I give it a 50-50 chance.

Maybe it's more the fault of the company that outsourced the game? Former Artoon employees worked on the game and they have been hit or miss. Arzest's streetpass game is fun for what it is, but I don't think they're the ones to trust for a new Yoshi. Also, Nintendo has been good about not using gimmicks with the last Zelda and Mario titles on 3Ds.

I actually like Yoshi's Island DS, though it lacks the polish of the original SNES game. I was surprised by the challenge of the game, espically the extra levels. The music is poor and it has stuff like enemies that respawn after you only move slighty away from where they first appeared, not somthing I expected from a Nintendo published DS game. I heard Yoshi's New Island still has poor music and has much easier levels (no mention of special levels in the reviews I read, not a good sign).

I know this 3DS XL is only temporary until a new revision, but it still drives me insane.

So I finally got myself a 3DSXL yesterday. Got A Link Between Worlds, Dream Team Bros and Kid Icarus Uprising too, and then went on an eShop spree and bought Recca, Shantae, Risky's Revenge, Blaster Master, Trip World, 3D Classics Kirby's Adventure and Kirby's Dream Land 2.

Really like it so far, now to just await the day Sayonara Umihara Kawase hits Europe...

There are plastic bumpers, but it somehow still happens.

The theory I've seen by others is that the top screen flexes enough to still touch the sharp edges of the bottom screen under pressure. Hell if I know, but there is a pretty consistent pattern of scratches in two straight lines my 3DS XL while the rest of the screen is perfectly clean.

I was so convinced it wouldn't happen too. If you look at how it's put together, you really don't think it should happen, but it does...

If you don't already have it, I advise you to get Metal Torrent, a very fun DsiWare shmup from Arika.

Latest Nintendo Direct reports:

Smash Bros 3DS coming this summer; Smash Bros WiiU this winter.

SSB3DS will run 60fps even in full 3D mode, with the exception of a couple fighters who will run at 30. (Don't know enough if the latter datum is a big deal.)

Both will have the same roster, but different stages. Both will support netplay with both friends and anyone.

Online multiplayer (for certain with WiiU, not so clear on 3DS) will have two modes: For Fun, and For Glory. The former will be random stage (no Final Destination), items on, while the latter will be Final Destination only (with a variety of coats of paint), items off. The latter will also feature a sort of ranked matchmaking. Games played with friends can be tweaked to heart's content.

Also, unspecified communication b/w the two versions. And, a couple of pokemon characters whom I don't recognize have been added to the roster.

Sounds pretty good to me. Wish there was more customization in online play, and that the WiiU version was launching earlier, though. More than possibly a marketing move to boost holiday sales for the WiiU. Also getting people to double-dip (which I certainly will, rube that I am).

Actually all fighers and levels run at 60, it's the secondary NPC's (AKA Assist Trophies) that run at 30.

I can understand Greninja, but if you seriously don't recognise Charizard or the other two then I think it's about time you got a brain scan. :|

Good news otherwise. I may have to get a Wii U just for this game: certainly my Wii is getting on a bit.

Haha, I guess I just glanced at two recognizably pokemon-ish names and didn't bother to read. In previous SSB games, whenever a pokemon was deployed or activated its special move or whatever, I couldn't get past the fact that they just keep saying their own name. Always made me think of Timmy from South Park. Not interested in pokemon on any level, obviously.

Maybe worth asking: I've never played a pokemon game but really enjoy the smt titles, and do enjoy a little collect-em-up in my rpg. I'm sure most of you guys grew up with pokemon, but on an objective level, would a 42 year old dude enjoy pokemon?

If you don't mind the fact ingame pokemon is extreme EASY MODO, go ahead. Fair warning, if you go backwards to play past games, you will be dissapointed at the lack of whatever feature the current games have. Also, FRIENDS AND POKEMON HELP ME DEFEAT PSEUDO GANGSTERS WHO DON'T USE GUNS!

Apparently Twitch Plays Pokemon was a thing that exists.

It's kind of weird that I get keyed into these fads by like, reading Jeff Vogel's blog. Feels like I'm out of touch with what the cool kids are doing these days.

"Grew up" in the sense of playing the game in japanese as a teenager because the bastards refused to localize it for years and years and this was the boring era when we had nothing better to do, sure.

It's a game where you amass an army of monsters and squash little kids who have no idea how to play pokemon. Each version released is the same game as the one that came before it; the last great installment in the series was Pokemon 2.

At this point I would only ever recommend it to someone who's never played a game in the series before.

M, maybe the fact that it's possible for a random number generator to beat the game should give you some pause when it comes to its difficulty.

I'm a little unclear regarding your meaning, here. (I'm assuming M means me.) I can't imagine an RNG winning at SSB, so I assume you're referring to pokemon? I have no beef with or disrespect towards those who dig the pokemons. I just could never stand how long each individual battle took. Even when I played on Heart Gold on emulator and fast forwarded.

It's called a stutter!

But yes, Silver/Gold/Crystal with 6,000% fast forward is the best and definite version of the game. Pity it wasn't Gameboy Color native, could have looked a lot better. As a sperg who made a utility to alter their palette for the NES version, some of those guys looked real assy.

I'm also a bit confused by that post since the Vita Zero Escape is supposed to be the definitive version. Not that I agree with the post or feel the 3DS should be thrown in the trash since it still has some other nice games of its own (and I like Bravely Default quite a bit myself, despite Max Headroom taking over the second half of the game).

Pokemon HeartGold is the slowest clusterfuck of a Pokemon engine Game Freak have put out in years. The newer ones are a lot faster.

I quite enjoyed the main quest, but it is far easier than SMT. You could not do much training/collecting and will still destroy the game.

The post-game content, however, is excellent. The game has a lot of depth, and being able to take a very unique team of dudes online is really neat for an rpg.

Forming a team of 6 dudes that are actually competant online (Perfect IVs, EV trained, correct Nature, any Egg Moves you might want, etc) takes a good understanding of the underlying system in the game, and there is a lot of room for creativity in all this. Its like Chess, if you could pick 6 out of an arsenal of over 700, and could tailor each piece to exactly how you like it.

Having had no interest in Pokemon a month ago, I've sunk 100 hours into the game since, and have been having a great time with it.

On that note it still shocks me to this day there isn't a dominant Pokemon clone MMO out there. It's like there's a giant gold pot of money just sitting there, and no one feels like picking it up.

Puzzle and Dragon kind of swallowed that niche, but it isn't exactly a virtual world.
