Is Raiden a Namco franchise now?

Post by xxx1993 »

I heard something about Namco buying the rights to Raiden or something... But hey, if that's true, maybe we can get a Raiden and Xevious crossover sometime in the future? I also hear rumors that there will be a Raiden VI, which is currently TBA.

Seibu Kaihatsu developed the Raiden games and its related spin-offs from 1990 until 1998. The license of Raiden was later purchased by MOSS. from 2005 until 2016. all Raiden games have been on various Taito boards (Taito Type X). The license of Raiden was later purchased by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Since 2017, all Raiden games have been on various Namco boards (Namco System ES3).

Hey, if that's the case, I don't mind Raiden VI being made by Namco. I also wouldn't mind having a crossover of Raiden and Xevious, or have Raiden being featured in Project X Zone.

I think the only way this could happen is if MOSS had some sort an internal crisis and the head sold them out. Giving up their IP is one of the worst things a small developer can do. Video game information is one of the least reliable topics of information on Wikipedia (second only to politics). There are some persistent rumors that have been left on pages for a decade, creating a feedback loop of misinformation as people read up on Wikipedia and then go to their forums claiming it and then some garbage video game journalist picks it up and states it as fact in a blog post.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

All Raiden games since 2017 have also been visual novel dating sims.

MOSS doesn't own the IP, Seibu does. And the Seibu pres is looking for cash flow, so he's pretty much just going to license stuff out. He'll probably only sell when he's about to retire. And yes it looks like whoever edited that into Wikipedia is taking the piss.

Has Raiden V been announced for arcade or PC? If not then whoever is trolling is on the MOSS wiki as well.

The Raiden page similarly had "Raiden VI" with a "TBA" release date, though that edit has since been reverted. Technically it is true that it's "to be announced," but no, there hasn't been any new announcement for the Raiden series.

I noticed that chart also lists Caladrius Blaze PS4 as coming out in Japan.

As far as I can tell, it looked like Raiden V was going to remain Xbox One exclusive, but it seems to be getting a PC port...?

You might not have seen it, but you're talking about a guy who seriously asked how long 2 weeks is on the Raiden V thread, and he asks the same questions over and over after someone already answers him. Not to mention he was acting like branching stages and a dark storyline don't belong in Raiden and would ruin the game completely. You can see the same stuff he posted over and over on the Raiden V gamefaqs thread as well. At first I thought he was a troll but sadly, he's just not very intelligent.

The story isn't really that dark. At least not on R-Type or DonPachi standards. And I hope it doesn't get to that level.

The point here isn't about the game, it's about your level of incompetence and low intelligence. At this point, you would've been better off if you just came out and said you are trolling with the amount of stupid questions you've posted. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's noticed. Sadly, I see that you're probably not trolling, and you really are that incompetent

The problem with the internet is that it fosters these, ahem, "fan groups" who spend all day writing "dream" articles about Raiden VIs and fabricating arcade versions and whatever the fuck. It's like DeviantArt OCs, but for entire video games and often in niche series. It leaks out to some other fields and topics, and makes it really hard to find legitimate discussion on anything to do with that field or topic. There's a word for this behavior that neatly wraps everything up, but it's not a very nice thing to say about anyone.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll write the plot and draw the characters. My idea is this: the Raiden MK-VI is told the Cranassians are invading Earth for the 6th time and goes on a 3D open-world adventure to collect as many power crystals as possible and destroy the bosses of the 4 Cranassian hub areas, each of which has 5 levels themed around one of the 4 elements. There are also doors that require a certain number of power crystals to open, while fairies are used as currency to purchase armor upgrades and new moves, some of which are required to reach new areas. The player character should be a girl that is half-Earthling, half-Cranassian.

You should also have a jump button to " dodge" the bullet, lots of spare food "extend" items, as well as melodramatic cutscenes that cut through the very essence of your soul.

So should the Raiden MK-VI just be a cyborg girl then that sometimes becomes a space ship, as in Guardic Gaiden? Let's do it.

Yes, I love to see multiple cyborg chicks along with rpg elements that yield gold, experience, and multiple evolutions for her depending on which route you take. Try to collect them all!
