Little problem with M.A.M.E. and unlocked ships
Hi everybody,
I recently tried to play some Dodonpachi DFK 1.5 on M.A.M.E. and I was not able to unlock the strong mode with the code. I know what the code is and how to to do it. I verified my controls before and I use 5 by default to add a coin. Am I too slow or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you very much.

Not sure what the problem is, but there's an option to enable it in cheats. Go here, d/l the 7z archive to your mame directory, then run mame with cheats enabled (hitting that switch will be different depending on what flavor of mame you use).
Re: Little problem with M.A.M.E. and unlocked ships
Doesn't it run really shit in MAME though? You're better off with the port, for all it's flaws.

Yeah, it's awful in MAME, please buy it.

Or take the Jack Sparrow option

Or don't because game development costs a lot of money. Surely you find the game worthwhile, how about giving something back for their effort.

Thanks for your kind answers, I guess. Did not know about the emulation problems. I never tested it on M.A.M.E. but I will buy the port probably when I am less busy with other things. I don't really buy shmups without knowing if I like them before: how weird is that, I know.
Re: Little problem with M.A.M.E. and unlocked ships
If you're trying to enter the code on your keyboard, you'll need to make sure your keyboard supports n-key rollover, or at least 6-key rollover. The code requires holding down three buttons while pressing a bunch of other buttons, which keyboards can have trouble handling due to keyboard ghosting.

Their effort being persistently bug ridden shitshows which deem the full pricetags with all the audacity of a streaker at a funeral? I'll consider it when they port a game with any level of competency that isn't simply insulting to the consumer. DFK is shit though, i pirated it and still asked for a refund.trap15 wrote: how about giving something back for their effort.

I paid for it, but I see nothing wrong with the "Pirate then buy if you like it" modeltrap15 wrote:Or don't because game development costs a lot of money. Surely you find the game worthwhile, how about giving something back for their effort.

Re: Little problem with M.A.M.E. and unlocked ships
Before DFK was released on steam, back when I had no funds, I put a bit of time into DFK on MAME and found it to be relatively playable if you're just going for a basic clear, scoring and the loop are a different story though. If you can though, the steam port is much better. Some the really glaring issues with it have been fixed, but the accuracy of the different modes vary. I think Arrange A is still messed up, but I'm too unfamiliar with the mode to say. At least there's no more invisible bosses... *nervous laughter*

I remember the unlock codes in DFK1.5 as well as in Deathsmiles required fairly quick inputting to register, so maybe it's a matter of speed? You could try inputting the code with the help of an AutoHotkey script or something if you're really having trouble.
It doesn't play well in MAME though, so if you're wanting to play it seriously, you're better off actually investing in a copy of the game.

Play for fun and win when you can.

Agree 110%. Til 2/20, Steam has it on sale ATM for $20.99 and Black Label is part of the deal, as always. Helping them get sales on DFK means the chance of SDOJ and other titles coming out improves.trap15 wrote:Yeah, it's awful in MAME, please buy it.
Kinect? KIN NOT.
