• Learning Dragon Blaze (which I started around the end of January) and reaching 2-5 with a score of 1,764,200.
• Giving some horis and pre-90s shmups a chance. Actually liked some of them.

• Perikles: Try some more modern shmups! I daresay there aren't many older shmups left that you haven't already conquered

  • I also want to see someone get a 1CC of Gokujou Parodius including the special stage!
  • More scoring on the other Parodius games too, especially with characters other than Koitsu and Mambo.

Looking at my goals from last year,

I didn't even play Futari to try to do those(360 is dead)

Deathsmiles for same reason

Didn't play any Touhous to try for LNN

Didn't get as far in Mushi Ultra as I would have liked.

Didn't bother learning Hitogata Happa's harder modes(Nobilmente Destiny 13, Allemanade Standard and Doomsday Standard).

Higher modes on Gundemonium Recollection or Demonic GundeadliGne without Nagi cheese are just no as well, way too much BS.



Goals:

Actually make it to Aki in Mushi Ultra without continues. Doubt I'd get good enough at the fight and game overall to 1cc.

100% Steam Achievements in Deathsmiles (yes, this means I want a 300+ million score in arcade and a MBL level 999 Bloody Jitterbug clear)

DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu/Resurrection Ura 2-All, and maybe try to reach the TLBs for other modes too.

i don't even play daily, no way i'd get 2 big goals like that in a year with that little playtime
it can wait for 2017 or 2018

beat sdoj expert hibachi, got the counterstop clear in futari ultra and got the casual ddp 2-all in 2 weeks on top of that
also cleared garegga in 12 hours and beat DOOM in dfk black label arrange in 18 hours and made some routing progress in battle traverse

Ehh, not too many or something to be really proud of, but I started playing shumps in march so I'm still somewhat new.

Personal Biggest Screw-ups of 2016:
Too many. Not using practice mode/save states from early on was one of them. I almost quit Espgaluda because of the stupid last pattern until I *really* started practicing it, turned out that it wasn't even that difficult.

Goals for 2017:
- Battle Garegga 1cc with Golden Bat and a letter score 1cc with Bornam or Gain. (or both)
I've already made it to stage 7 a few times so I think I'll get the clear soon(ish).

- Batsugun Normal ver. 1cc with the stage 4 boss milk. (+ a good score)

Lots to talk about. New WRs by Ako, Pegboy, Kino and Maximo (almost!), Perikles and Vludi slaughtering tons of arcade shmups, Shepardus clearing Parodius Da!, MegaPulse almost clearing Ketsui Ura until he gave up to score Fairy Wars, Eaglet becoming the best Garegga player outside Japan, The Armchair General, cream soda and Baron Rojo for their Raiden accomplishments alongside others, KAL and WS tearing up Garegga and several others after Stunfest, and many more.

Goals for 2017:
Don't want to set anything concrete as I might let myself down but I will continue to enjoy shmups along with this forum and the community and strive to improve my skills! Scoring may be methodical in modern shmups, but in the old days you had to persevere and git gud to score high.

- 6+ bil Spiritual Larsa clear in Futari God Mode. Overall I don't really have a set plan, my goal is to just keep working on God Mode for a few more years and then take it from there.

I don't feel like my game playing or collecting was focused enough on SHMUPs to answer any of the 2016 questions, but I will say that I am happy I made this the year that I really got into the genre and joined this forum which seems to be filled with cool users and interesting topics

But here are my 2017 shmup goals:

* 1cc for the first time (Dodonpachi is a strong contender for this one)
* Even though it will kill my wallet, get back into collecting Saturn shmups. I'd like to pick up 5 I do not own before the end of 2017
* Compile a strong list of 25 shmups so I can participate in the best of 2017 poll next year
* PLAY, PLAY, AND PLAY SOME MORE! I want to play everything I can get my hands on thoroughly to the point where I feel like I deserve to have an opinion on them.

Personal Favourite Achievements of 2016:
Goals for 2016: Go for the 2-ALL in Ketsui and score 6 billion in Boost. Secondary goals are 38-39M in Eschatos Normal, and a picking up a new game. Working on my mindset/routine and practicing more.
I didn't play CCWI or Eschatos Normal, but did play Eschatos Hardest and pick up a new game in Fairy Wars. These 2016 goals ended up being a joke, but I guess the non-CCWI ones were met in some form.

Personal Biggest Screw-ups of 2016:
Playing Ketsui.

Favourite Achievements by Others of 2016:
Stunfest performances.

Goals for 2017:
Continued practice, better mentality and more efficient practice routines. Avoiding another Ketsui. Waiting in horror for TRP-STGT to make a comeback after its absence in 2016.

Personal Favourite Achievements of 2016:
-Garegga's first clears and improvements after that: It's the first vertical shooter I cleared which took me a lot of effort, but the reward was immense. After months I returned to it and still had a blast doing some scoring and playing with other ships.
-R-Type 2-All, not a terribly difficult clear but a pretty enjoyable one to close the year, very polished game from a survival standpoint.
-Thunder Dragon 2 clear and small improvements after it: this is one of the most enjoyable vertical shooters I played in the year, it's just fun to play for survival alone and the straightforward scoring just makes it more frantic.
-Gradius II 2-All: While I don't intend to revisit this game soon, putting all those strategies in execution was quite fun, even if the suicide bullets were frustrating at first. It's an awesome game overall but the randomness of stage 3 is a bit offputting.

Personal Biggest Screw-ups of 2016:
Can't think of many.

Favourite Achievements by Others of 2016:
-Perikles crushing a crazy amount of classic games and giving good insight about them, many of them pretty tough. Same with Barón Rojo in the available time he has to play.
-The adamantium perseveration from guys like Pazzy, Eaglet, Armchair General who had awesome results in their respective games. Let alone all the players that set new records/big scores for old games.

Goals for 2017:
-Keep improving in Garegga
-Learn a bit of Batrider, 10m would be a good start.
-Keep playing classic games, clearing more than one loop if it's doable.
-Try to get 5m in Thunder Dragon 2
-Maybe (and just maybe) a Psikyo 2-All.
-I'm really curious about Raiden IV for some reason, I want to give it a try eventually.

Personal Favourite Achievements of 2016: Beating the highest Donpachi score on this forum and then some with a score of 46.4 mil. It was really nice getting a goal I worked a year and a month on.

Personal Biggest Screw-ups of 2016: Too many to count. I had 8 loses when going for the type B Community record that were seconds away from achieving my goal. I've lost more runs because of stupid mistakes than I can count, and even just today I was losing to dumb mistake after dumb mistake which caused me to very rarely make it to stage 4.

Favourite Achievements by Others of 2016: Many great achievements this year. Megapulse's GFW scores, Ako WRs, Perikles clearing 300+ games, Fufufu DOJ WL WR, HK improving his Donpachi type B WR (and consistently demolishing anything I could do ;_;), Maribel getting some 2hu LNBs, Stg's continued progress in Progear, Gus 1.01 clear, Morth's WRs, and last but denfinetly not least are Pazzy's amazing DOJ and Ketsui scores.

Goals for 2017: Ummm... Maybe 48 mil (and possibly 50 mil) in Donpachi, and get gud at at DOJ BL (?).

CHALLENGE TO OTHER PLAYERS: Ummmm... Beat my Donpachi 46.4 mil score so I don't get lonely playing this game ;_;. But in all seriousness have fun playing shmups and go for a top score in your favorite games if it seems like something you'd enjoy.

Fairy Wars: 107.1 million on B1 Lunatic is my best single run this year (and all-time, so far). also, 61.3 million A1 Normal is pretty great.
Double Spoiler: This is what I played most. 95.4 mil Aya and 100.5 mil Hatate total score, with 67 RF stars. some stand out scores are 300k 3-8 Aya, 914k 8-2 Aya, 1.002m 10-6 Hatate, 1.742m 12-3 Aya... it is a bit hard to judge. i should have played this much more...
then some more minor things in other games like 7-6 1.318m STB, 111M PODD LUNA...

I came to appreciate horis in 2016. Played and cleared a Darius (Gaiden), finally got my hands on Progear and got back into AK at the end of the year.

I would like to dive into something long term in 2017 and turn it inside out.

-finally break into the 2nd loop of progear. I wanted to do this in 2016 but got distracted. have a handful of 1-ALLs but never met the requirements to loop ._.
-1CC Battle Garegga is kind of too ambitious at the moment, but I'd say make it to stage 7 since I've only seen stage 6 a couple of times
-1CC Dangun Feveron (not including TLB). Got to stage 4 for the first time at the chicago shmupsmeet this year and hoping the ps4 port will reignite my desire

Taking the Gain record was way overdue but fun to finally get out of the way.
Finally getting the Garegga Q&A done with ICR and Plasmo!

Personal Biggest Screw-ups of 2016: A couple of runs that could've been new PR's ending on Glow Squid.
Aside from that not much really. Everything's cruising along nicely both in personal and STG terms.

Favourite Achievements by Others of 2016: Loads of good stuff as every year.
Pazzy's annihilation of any game he decides to focus on, Bananamatic reaching new levels of wizardry, Perikles destruction of the old school, all of the newer Garegga players continuing to bring in greater and greater scores, pestro87's continued spanking of Futari BL God Mode and my friends opening up the only real game center in Sweden; HEY Stockholm!
M2 for releasing such a great port of Garegga!

Goals for 2017: A couple of follow up goals from the previous year; D score with Grasshopper, destroying KET's Baron and Silver Sword scores, Bornnam G, Gain I, Wild Snail F...
Try to do more stuff for the community if possible with local events and activities and seriously look into some form of streaming.

Personal Favourite Achievements of 2016: played Dodonpachi for sufficiently long that I've decided that I like it and want to score in it. 1-ALL'd it, and currently learning to score in later stages of first loop.

Personal Biggest Screw-ups of 2016: spent too much time practicing easier stages I already know, and not enough time learning later stages, because I'm lazy and later stages are hard.

Favourite Achievements by Others of 2016: Pazzy's Ketsui runs, The Armchair General Donpachi type B runs.

Goals for 2017: learn to score well on the first loop of Dodonpachi. As a bonus goal, actually achieve said score, or at least a good fraction of it.

Personal Favourite Achievements of 2016: Well, guess this is an obvious one! But my second was NMNB-ing the entire last attack on the TLB for a 2ALL, that was crazy. Also 1CC'ing Mushihimesama's Maniac Mode after not playing it for so long.

Personal Biggest Screw-ups of 2016: Dying on the very last pattern in Radiant Slivergun with 1 second to go. It's happened before, and yet it still stings lol.

Favourite Achievements by Others of 2016: Wow, so many amazing performances you guys mentioned above, it's incredible seeing the level of play constantly get elevated on this site and around the world. Darurun's performance in Mushi Futari BL Original is high up there for me, after watching him play for so long it's like a visual reminder to myself to also continue and try again. I also agree with chum, it's great seeing new players here as well!

Goals for 2017: 200 mil. And maybe start playing something new to 1CC, always fun having a little side project to work on! We'll see...
