using my crappy japanese comprehension, they say they will reprint some older products, probably SELECTY21 (if they found scart connectors) or xselect-d4 I believe...

Micomsoft has been using twitter for updates. Yes, it's official, the SELECTY21 is going back into production AND they're producing a direct cable for use with the XRGB-mini! The 8MDIN pins are thicker as well. I'm glad to see a DB15 (FM Towns) to 8MDIN (XRGB-mini) cable as opposed to DB15 to RGB21, as it reduces the number of connections and potential signal loss and noise!

Some interesting looking cables connected to the SELECTY21!

New cable on the left features thicker pins for a more reliable connection.

Overview of Ceatec 2015 booth. SFC, Saturn, and PlayStation all connected through a new production SELECTY21 with new DB15 to 8MDIN cable!
Looks like the new SELECTY21 to XRGB-mini cable is much more substantial than what was included with the SELECTY21 before:

Re: Ceatec Japan 2015
What the duck? You mean it no longer comes with a JP21 output cable? So that would make it only geared towards people who want to connect three devices to a mini, rather than a general JP21 switch as it was before.
Cool for mini owners, I guess, but sucks for us with lots of JP21 devices they want to connect to an actual CRT. Now we have to somehow build a DB15 to SCART cable. DB15 cables are not easy to source.

The DB15-RGB21 cable that was previously included doesn't look like one you'd even want to use! I'd imagine they will have DB15-RGB21 cables available as well, but it wasn't the focus of the demo. Are DB15 connectors actually scarce in Europe?! Very easy to find in the states.

Nice. Anyone know what level these will be priced at? I seem to vaguely recall the original price of a SELECTY being around 8000¥

Re: Ceatec Japan 2015
That is an absurdly high price for a passive switcher!!! It states the original price on Micomsoft's product page - 7,800円, which converts to about $65 US. 7,800円 to 11,000円 would be a giant price hike Fudoh!!!Fudoh wrote:Higher than before. 11.000 maybe ?

Re: Ceatec Japan 2015
If they had just included an extra input then the price increase would have been more than justified. Three is just bizarrely inadequate.

Re: Ceatec Japan 2015
Looks like there are some new products/releases up for pre-order on Amazon.co.jp!
SELECTY21 N (¥13,800; 12/25/2015)
RGB21 Cable for Super Famicom (¥5,940; 12/12/2015)
RGB21 Cable for Sega Saturn (¥5,940; 12/12/2015)
RGB21 Cable for Super Famicom (¥5,940; 12/12/2015)
These cables look really promising and could very well be the new de facto RGB21 cables!

This 21-pin RGB cable makes high-quality video output from the PlayStation/Saturn/SFC possible.
• SCE PlayStation genuine "RGB cable SCPH-1050" is equivalent.
• SEGA Sega Saturn genuine "RGB cable HSS-0109" is equivalent.
• Nintendo SNES genuine "RGB cable SHVC-010" is the equivalent.
• The cable uses Panasonic capacitors for more stable video output. (PlayStation & SFC only)
• Fully shielded cable to eliminate audio and video noise.
• This cable is intended for use with Microcomputer Software, Inc. up-scalers, such as the "Frame Meister N DP3913547", or "XRGB-3 DP3913418". (There are cases where this cable can be used on CRTs with RGB inputs)
※ Analog RGB with a display that corresponds to the horizontal sync frequency 15kHz is required. Adapters can be used to convert the 21-pin RGB plug to a connector suitable for your display/application
• Cable length: 2.0m

Re: Ceatec Japan 2015
Cables will be available from Solaris next week (afaik ¥3,500 a pop and with a little discount when ordered together). The SELECTY21 a week after that. No confirmation on the final price yet. ¥13,800 is steep.

Re: Ceatec Japan 2015
I don't get why SCART switches are so expensive and complicated. Can you not just solder a bunch of SCART sockets to a PCB, run traces from the pins to pads, and then have a mechanism with spring contacts that moves between shorting different sets of pads?

1) 21 loose pins each carrying its own thingGuspaz wrote:I don't get why SCART switches are so expensive and complicated. 2) multiply by X
3) throw a monster metallic mechanical switch in
3) = ever heard of Murphy's law ?
I've heard only Swiss-made mechanical scart switches don't fail, expert-crafted, all military-grade parts, diamonds and gold.
Just a bit expensive.

Re: Ceatec Japan 2015
When you consider the price of similar multi-coax cables from RGC/RCA, it's actually less expensive at $30 (less if bundled) for these factory manufactured cables. These are not to be confused with the standard cables the eBay sellers offer that cost nearly as much that give OK results or the dirt cheap ones that pop up on sites such as Play-Asia that yield poor results. They have the advantage of being professionally manufactured and are designed to be superior to the official RGB21 cables sold by Nintendo, Sega and Sony. Should be interesting to see feedback for these cables!jugu wrote:Received an email from Solaris offering 3 new pro-quality cables for:

Saturn - https://solarisjapan.com/products/pro-r ... ega-saturn
PlayStation - https://solarisjapan.com/products/pro-r ... laystation
$30 USD seems a bit much to me.
On paper, do these look superior to cables from Retro Gaming Cables?
Apologies if this has already been discussed before. Looked new to me.
