Good DS/3DS games???

Post by atheistgod1999 »

My parents are making me do summer (luckily computer) camp next week from Monday to Friday, and I want games to take with me (hopefully I'll be allowed to hook up my 13.5" PVM and AV Famicom seeing how I'm gonna be sleeping in a dorm). Anyway, I need some good, standalone (or like Nintendo where I don't have to play the rest of the franchise) video games for my New 3DS XL. I don't want to play any n64 remakes on the system because I want to play it on the original hardware (I'm fine with remakes of Wii games, though, as long as they contain all the features of the original version). I've already beaten Sonic Rush, Kirby Superstar Deluxe, and some other good games that I haven't remembered yet. Suggest some games, and I'll tell you if I've beaten them already. I'd like to get Professor Layton and The Curious Village and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

For the DS:

The World Ends With You - I love the artstyle and I enjoyed the gameplay immensely. Best game on the DS.

Disgaea DS - While it is graphically the weakest version of the game, the map feature on the second screen is a godsend, imo. Especially on some of those randomly generated dungeons.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin - Great, great tactics game, but it's get ridiculous hard. Still, awesome title.

Each one of those games should keep you occupied for weeks. But you shouldn't waste your time playing video games all the time. Try to make some friends there and have a nice time. Maybe you'll meet a cute girl... Try to enjoy your youth and treat gaming as something special that you grand yourself when you want to relax a little.

Link Between Worlds is an excellent handheld Zelda after a generation of terrible ones (both DS games) but maybe I'm just nostalgic about the SNES game. It's not very much like the SNES game at all, by the way, the Light World is very similar but many things have shifted around there too. Wish there was a way to start the hero mode without already beating the game on normal.

Any of the Sega 3D remakes are more than worth the 6 bucks, the best of them being Fantasy Zone II probably.

Shinobi is really easy to get ahold of (like 7 used) solid action game despite being outsourced

NTSC-J: You know STGs are in trouble when you have threads on how to introduce them to a wider audience and get more people playing followed by threads on how to get its hardcore fan base to play them, too.

You're going to be lugging an awful lot if you bring your tv and game consoles.

Playing Phoenix Wright for the first time - you can probably spend all week doing that.

Doesn't bringing video games to summer camp defeat the whole purpose? Oh well:

Advance Wars DoR
Bangai-O Spirits
Civilization Revolution
Etrian Odyssey 3
Knights in the Nightmare
Metal Slug 7
Metroid Prime Pinball
Sonic Rush
Spiderman: Web of Shadows
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier

I also highly recommend watching the movie "Addams Family Values" before going.
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

Cory in the house for the DS is really good, although the gameplay is a bit complex;
It's a tactical/action RPG, sort of like Fire Emblem meets Bayonetta.

While pure skill can get you through a majority of the game even if the equipment and stats of your soldiers aren't that good, you can always replay battle scenarios to grind for exp. and crafting items for better equipment, so you shouldn't get too frustrated with it.

Graphics are surprisingly impressive, with battle fields and 3d character models approaching the quality of early 3DS titles, not to mention the fantastic cutscene and CG artwork done by Madhouse studio.

Your feelings about the music may vary, but I personally adore the OST: for the most part it's a fusion of J-Pop and jazz, but for boss battles it switches over to Euro beat.

The characters are all very well written and characterized for the most part, although you might feel that Sasuke's role as a comic relief is a bit too exaggerated.

The English dub is very well done (although your feelings about Momoe's voice actor may vary), but in the NA localization there's no option to use the original Japanese voice work.

Now I'm not going to give away anything about the story, but I WILL say that it throws a pretty big curveball at you halfway through the game. Don't get too attached to Takamoto.

Uh, one week and you feel the need to take your TV with you? If I was either of your parents I would stop you.

For the 3DS get Shadow Wars, practically free and easily one of the better games on the system.

Excellent review, if I may say so myself.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

I ended up just playing Phoenix Wright the whole time.
