JROK on a candy

Post by jessiewonka »

I've searched around and never come across pics or videos of someone with a candy using a JROK board. Obviously it'll work but I'd love to see how well in practice when playing Robotron and Defender.

I've got a Matt Ross produced supergun setup that uses a Version 2.1 JROK pcb (with NTSC outputs for both composite video & S-Video) in conjunction with RGB output as well (so it's possible to run both a low-res 15kHz RGB monitor and a S-Video TV monitor at the same time if so desired). I do have a Taito Egret II candy cab and a spare Version 2.1 JROK pcb but haven't modded it so that it can output either composite video or S-Video via NTSC signal format in addition to the usual 15 kHz low-res display afforded of the Nanao MS9 chassis (as I really don't see the need to do so at the current moment).

The JROK would work out of the box in your Egret II/MS9, correct?

And it plays delightfully. Tried round gates but ended up going back to square as it felt better.
