Most likely, this is just another one of those scammy freemium mobile TCG games like Cinderella Girls that are so trendy in Japan right now. Get ready to see 50+ new waifus added to Deathsmiles canon.

Not a chance. CAVE may be essentially dead to us, but their mobage still pulls decent profits, and they'll probably do better now since they've excised the most underperforming and costly divisions of the company.

Yeah I remember reading something similiar too, but I got the impression that it was just some sort of speculation and nothing official has been said regarding it.

I mean, they said at 2013 CAVE matsuri that CAVE isn't going to stop developing shmups, no matter what. (and that their next title will be a mobile game. (Donpaccin))
It's been a year after donpaccin's release, so who knows, they might've been working on some yet-to-be-announced shmup for all this time?
Of course, times and situations change fast and the sentiment from 2013 might already be void, but I'm optimistic. :/

My first thought was something along the lines of "Magi-girls" since they seem to be blending the two words together. Doesn't exactly work in English since the ending and beginning sounds of the two words aren't the same like "mahou" and "otome". Also "otome" is a more formal word for a young woman than "girl" so "maiden" probably captures it better.

"Mahouonnanoko" sounds and looks terrible lol

My Japanese is dismal, but the new staff interviews on the game page appear to be exclusively focused on their personal shmup backgrounds and their thoughts on the future of the genre. They would seem out of place if this game weren't a shmup, or at the very least had elements of one.
