KADE miniConsole+ tons arcade, computer, and console I/O

Post by sharpfork2 »

This is a bit of a teaser announcement of our new product and winter kickstarter. We had a successful kickstarter in 2013 for our miniArcade.

Nice, so this is a USB hub that supports a full range of retro controllers?

It is a device that allows you to plug in a missive number of original console and arcade controls and output to a wide variety of devices. Some are USB like computers, Android, PS3, original xbox, iOS, and others. It also does Wii classic controller out and Playstation 1/2 out. All are on the fly/ don't need to be reconfigured. There will be a desktop/ coffe table version in a nice case as well as a fightstick/ cab mountable version.

I've been using it in my cabs for over a year now. It is the same foundational proven technology in the KADE miniArcade and Bruno's RetroPad Adapter with newer hardware. I am really proud of what we have put together and hope folks have a ton of fun using it.

Sounds intriguing...so you could even hook an classic Atari 7800 Proline joystick (with it's DB-9 interface) as well?

We just posted an update with a ton more info, pictures, and a video. We are super proud to have added Wii U as an additional on the fly output. We are the first 3rd party direct to Wii U input! Kickstarter in February.

The one thing I wonder about this is, if the input mapping is on the fly and nothing needs to be configured, nor *can* it be configured, I would expect to have a lot of times when I wish I could configure input mappings manually.

Hi! Default mapping does a good job on various systems, games, homebrew, etc. If a particular case doesn't fit your needs, there will be a cross platform tool for configuring the mappings manually. Configuration will be stored in the adapter's eeprom memory, so it will survive power cycles.

Will this allow you to use various racing wheels on games that don't support them, like Mario Kart 8?

Theoretically yes. I tested MK8 and it allows use of the classic controller the miniConosle+ shows up as. I'll give it a try this weekend after I dig my old PS2 wheel out of storage.
