Shmups at E3 2013

Post by Elaphe »

WOW, it's been amazing: so many 2D shoot'em ups at this E3 for the new generation consoles. I'll have to start saving money to buy them all.

Yeah Psyvariar 3 and Raiden Fighters New look great. It's going to be an expensive year.

Yeah, no problem dude:

Psyvariar 3
Raiden Fighters New
Gradius VI
R-Type Resurrection
some new Radilgy game

No CAVE stuff yet though.

Edit: Oh and Psikyo Shooting Collection which by looking at the video would appear to have all their shooters on one disc.

Then again, there are plenty of shmups to try, play, 1cc, go full shmup on, for everyone.
I for one do not need any new stuff for now.

Did anyone see the Harmful Park 2: Painful Field trailer?

Ikaruga 2 stole all of the press attention, though. IGN preemptively declared it the best game of the decade.

Not sure it stole Gradius x Contra's thunder though. Bill Rizer piloting the Lord British Space Destroyer was pretty impressive stuff from Konami and Milestone. I like the way he can hold two weapons and freely switch between them, all from the cockpit.

I was certainly excited to see NMK's return with the absolutely breathtaking and visually gorgeous Thunder Dragon 3. PS4 exclusive! Guess what's going to be my favorite launch title!

Sorry, I know you're an NMK fan, but FACE's Nostradamus sequel, Nostradamus: End of Days looked like the better of the company resurrections. I particularly liked the hint at PCE Hani being a secret character.

Cave did have a display, although it was somewhat obscured by a bunch of 12 year old girls so I couldn't quite make out what was going on. Looks like they might be sticking with Microsoft tho, probably like the hardware lockdowns ;-)

I wonder why nobody mentioned the Progear port. The 4k version looked jaw-dropping.

They're on Dreamcast 2.

PC Engine N-EXT looks like a solid console too! Especially the Oui-Ja board style controller that moves on it's own!!!1

Getting tired of being left out of shmups any longer, here comes Namco with Nebulasray 2.
SNK? Pulstar with real-time rendered everything. Blazing Star soon to follow.

;)

Border Down 2 looks very impressive. G-rev's booth babes was hot too. Can't wait for their 10th anniversary HD release of Border Down as well.

This was a good year for E3. There's still hope for the gaming in the future.

Seriously people, I think I hate you.
Alas, Ikaruga is going...

Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?
