Kind of like how you respond to posts. This is about the drones moving into the backyard, to be used by local police forces...or didn't you get the briefing?neorichieb1971 wrote:America is seemingly fighting wars from further and further away.
Guilty as charged. Never read the article. Seems effective. Thought at first its OTT, but if the shit works then i'm all for it.Ed Oscuro wrote:Kind of like how you respond to posts. Anyway, it was about time. I don't see why they can't do this. They've been tracking people with IR from choppas for years, also, so it's nothing more than putting the pilot on the ground.
Update for those not clever enough to know the facts (also good of this site to confirm my suspicion that I'd heard of drones being used in manhunts before...because I remembered that episode from a few years back).
no, the future will be here when they fly a few drones over football games right after the national anthem.CMoon wrote:The Future is Now.
Where did you see that? As far as I know he's still at large, probably Metal Gear Solid 3'ing it out in the California wilderness.antron wrote:fucking awesome that they caught this guy.

where are you guys coming from on this? they are not looking in your house with this. you have no privacy in public. these words are literally opposites.ncc wrote:Basically this.HenAi wrote:Completely expected and completely sucks.

I don't want police to be able to police everything, neither in my home nor in public. Drones can make that possible. There are other issues associated with their use, but that's the by far most important one.antron wrote:ncc wrote: where are you guys coming from on this? they are not looking in your house with this. you have no privacy in public. these words are literally opposites.
this doesn't make it possible. it makes it less likely that you will detect them doing it.HenAi wrote: I don't want police to be able to police everything, neither in my home nor in public. Actually it does make it possible to a much larger degree. You do realize analyzing videos automatically is already possible to some extent?antron wrote:this doesn't make it possible. it makes it less likely that you will detect them doing it.

Where could I E-mail or mail to if I want to address my ideas and Opinions?
I really not happy how an email provider can turn over everything after 6 months in the US, without a warrant. I have an expectation of privacy in my email, I think everyone does. This needs to be changed.mesh control wrote:hey, fuck everything.
I personally hate street cameras a lot, though drones are worse. Why? You can avoid cameras because they are generally stationary. But of course, in principle they're about as shite as drones are.antron wrote:If this drone thing really gets to you all so much, you should be much more concerned about street cameras with facial recognition. I don't think they are going to be able to search drone footage for faces of people who were not direct targets of surveillance.HenAi wrote: I personally hate street cameras a lot, though drones are worse. I don't want an omniscient, omnipotent government. They are not benevolent. If you still believe there is any real privacy and that the government can't know all about what you do, you're naive. If you think the government really cares about what you do or has the time to check that out, you're even more naive.
Just because one aspect of society improves does not mean we have to give up on the problems which exist in another. Of course, with that being said, I'm sure that we would all benefit if people in general and policy makers in particular would look at hard data and use it to prioritize action on particular issues. And speaking of our rights, let's at least be realistic, our rights are illusory. They have and will continue to be violated, and can be canceled at any time as the circumstances may be. So your perception of your rights may have shifted in a negative way, but in fact you have lost nothing and you live in a world that is safer. Boo Hoo.

I would disagree, although it's only a very small part of the population that manages to stay off the radar. That doesn't mean we can't be mad that we're moving further and further away from the possibility of getting any of it back though. As it stands now (or previously, I suppose), if you're crazy enough you can still run off into the woods and live like a 21st century Daniel Boone without the government being any the wiser.Lord Satori wrote:Why are these drones pissing everyone off?
