Given that my DC won't read CD-R's will the DC-X work??...

Post by dave4shmups »

Or is there any way to tell until I try it out? I'm asking because, while I've had great experiences with this boot disc in the past, Neon's GameShark CDX boot disc, which he checked and was working on his DC, will not work on my Dreamcast, nor will any other CD-R I've tried.

Also-given the condition that my DC is in, would it work to have the thing chip-modded?

Well, I just chatted with Kiken on AIM, and he said that the DC-X is a CD-ROM, so perhaps it will work. I'll find out soon enough, as the DC-X shipped today from Play-Asia via UPS!

your problem to do with disc recognition may be the model of dreamcast you own the older ones are notoriously better for playing roms and cdrs than the later ones, think its DCs made pre september 2000 that are more suited to roms. Its the same thing as only certain dcs can play bleem!.

EDIT. Just read the topic below, seems the above was already mentioned. ah well post count +1.
