Taito Legends game list (again, sorry)
Sorry for another Taito collection thread but I'm getting a bit confused now over the different line ups there is.
Is there a definitive list of what games are going on the compilation?
Play.com has this list for Taito Legends on the PS2, XBOX and PC which is very different to the other lists i've seen.

My guess is that the UK release is different from the Japanese one, which is titled Taito Memories. Gamespot has reproduced Famitsu's list for Memories:
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/tait ... 23010.html
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/tait ... 23010.html
I hope so, but is the Guncon 2 designed for rapid fire? The zapper isn't. The NES Operation Wolf actually plays better with a pad than with a zapper.Brian wrote:I am getting both the US and JP releases because both of those lists are great. I wonder if they will include light gun support for Operation Wolf?

I just can't understand for the life of me WHY Taito would leave out BOTH Arkanoid games. They were VERY popular over here in the states; the first one got a NES port, and even a friggin' Mac Plus port, and was ported to multiple home computers, as was the second one.
Honestly, IMO, this is like Cave doing a compilation and leaving out DonPachi or DoDonPachi.
At any rate, the PC Engine port of Operation Wolf also plays fine with the D-Pad, so I wouldn't worry about light-gun support.

It's still "TBA 2005". Empire Interactive is supposedly bringing over a volume to the US, but there's no final release date, or game list.
In any case, I'm getting a region-modded Saturn, and with all the Saturn shmups on the Japanese volumes, this collection isn't worth owning if you have a Saturn, IMO. And a lot of the other games are playable on other formats.
You mean like buying them once vs. many separately and for more cash?dave4shmups wrote: In any case, I'm getting a region-modded Saturn, and with all the Saturn shmups on the Japanese volumes, this collection isn't worth owning if you have a Saturn, IMO. Guncon 2 is definitely designed for rapid fire. In Crisis Zone and Time Crisis 3, you use a fullauto machine gun.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Well, for people like me that are getting or have a Saturn, yeah it does make more sense, IMO. And not all of these games are THAT expensive; Darius Gaiden is ridiculously cheap.Rob wrote:You mean like buying them once vs. many separately and for more cash?dave4shmups wrote: In any case, I'm getting a region-modded Saturn, and with all the Saturn shmups on the Japanese volumes, this collection isn't worth owning if you have a Saturn, IMO. Ooh
Glad Dungeon Magic is there.
Awesome Isometric Beatemup.
PuliRula is freaking weird as heck but it sucks.
http://www.angelfire.com/ri/returns/pulirula.html
The UK(US?) release has Darius Gaiden, Bubble Symphony, Ninja Kids, Space Gun, Dungeon Magic, Gladiator, and Rayforce among many others so it IMO is a steal for whatever price it goes for.
Of course I'll still hold onto my Saturn releases of Darius Gaiden(I can't 1CC the arcade version) and Bubble Symphony(It costs over $45! But hey there's a few Saturn exclusive extras)
There needs to be some release dates announced post haste..If this can get to the US before 2006 I'll be a happy camper(Though I'd be happy regardless of when it came out)..nevermind I'm rambling.

and space invaders, DX, and magestic twelve if you'd like to include
and whats Kyuukyoku Harikiri Koshien?

Doesn't anyone else think these very different game lists for regions is quite strange? If they're doing something other than running emus on the PS2 then why go to all the trouble of coding games and then excluding them. Until we see the actual releases I'm *very* hesitant to believe all these varying lists

I'd figure they'd vary the releases by region since not all the games from one collection ever made it to another (and thus they wouldn't be recognized), or even if they did they wouldn't be well-received by most of the audience. That's why on the previous Taito Collections thread (as well as here) I singled out PuLiRuLa (though other games are obviously in the same boat), since I can only imagine what kind of general reaction a whacked-out game like that would get in the West. I wouldn't doubt that there might be some variation between the Europe and NA releases of this, though probably not as drastic as the differences between Japan's and Europe's.

another consideration is that all regions will probably not get both collections. maybe they are just editing down the two comps into one for American (or Euro, not sure of the market there) submission.Bar81 wrote:Doesn't anyone else think these very different game lists for regions is quite strange? My guess is that they will start with one vol. in the US (and UK), just as Midway did. When the Midway compilation sold well, they came out with a second volume. Taito probably has the same plan in the US. They are likely more confident that the volumes will sell sufficiently well in Japan from the start.captain ahar wrote:another consideration is that all regions will probably not get both collections. maybe they are just editing down the two comps into one for American (or Euro, not sure of the market there) submission.Bar81 wrote:Doesn't anyone else think these very different game lists for regions is quite strange? Good point; they may well release additional volumes here if the first one does well.
I still can't believe that Taito left out BOTH Arkanoid games. I was on the Ultracade website the other day, and they're both on that format, so why leave them out of these collections? It just makes no sense, IMO.

Well the SNES one plays fine with the SNES controller, IMO.
But you're right; I'd probably be better off getting a NES with the game and the paddle controller-plus, 2 came out on the Famicom!
At any rate, I'm happy that they're including Gladiator-that is one awesome Rastan arcade game!
I've played it on MAME and it rocks!
