Power Strike 2 (SMS) question

Post by Zeether »

What's the use of those rotating options you get? They seem to just be for blocking bullets and that's it, but the Xenocide Files review says they change various weapons' firing speed as well...which I haven't noticed.

One option colour increases your firing speed, one makes your shot stronger, one makes it spread a little wider. I forgot which colour does which.

The effects are minimal anyway, though.

there are three colors actually, yellow, red and blue. One of them adds penetrating power to your bullets, and that one is great to have. Another widens the shot range, and the third one... I forgot, maybe it's just a bullet shield?

Welp, this thread reminded me to check eBay, and I found the game for less than $100 shipped. Yay!

Hopefully it won't be too terrible to play on a JPN SMS (at slightly faster than normal speed).

Not sure what you mean for normal speed, but be aware that the game is fully optimized to play under 50hz. That is, the correct speed and music is at 50hz - playing on NTSC will be unnaturally faster.

I read at the http://www.sega8bit.com forums that this may not be the case and that the faster speed in NTSC and PAL-M may very well be the correct speed. There are also a few games that are optimized for both 50 and 60Hz.

I played it over at deadtech's place and it seemed to run at a good speed. You could give it a shot on emulator if you're curious.

This one is definitely on my wish list =)

That's good to know. Certainly the game speed doesn't seem "wrong" at the faster pace; music seems fine too.

...I still need to actually plug the real game in though
