Er, he does know what he's talking about. Aside from the close call with Ketsui we recently learned about, there's been no mention of Cave ports for a long time.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

The old days were so much better when posters who refused to learn things were allowed to refuse to learn things.

I also miss Recap's wonderful insight into video games very much.

If a Cave game was being ported there would be a 40 page thread on the very top of shmups chat. I mean that in the nicest you're-not-quite-Darius11 kind of way.

Not if its a cave game where there's a bit in it where the screen scrolls backwards.

Apparently that is hell of difficult to program. Assembler, C+ and Basic get a right wobble on.

Just like the vertical and diagonal scrolling in Progear mirite?

It's not the scrolling that's the issue, lol.

Movingtarget has been away for a few months, he just wanted to know what he's missed.

Certainly not a darius11 job here.

The issues in the Ketsui port were far beyond the "scrolling backwards" thing. IIRC, it had something to do with the huge number of individual enemies and such.

I'm glad 99pence is back to work.

And just try and program a background that scrolls backwards on PS2. It simply can't be done. Maybe our children's grandchildren will see that dream become a reality; certainly none of us will. Stop kidding yourselves.

Am I the only one that sees Xbox Live/PS3 Store as the perfect vehicle for SHMUPS to be released?

Imagine.....Ketsui, RSG, Espgaluda II downloadable for the price of a regular XBLA game.

The electronic delivery would certainly get past the publishing issue, as I imagine that is one of the major drawbacks in releasing SHMUPS today.

Pretty much.

Or for free, for that matter, or they could even pay you money for every game you manage to 1CC. Ikeda could also sent his hos over to your place for free blowjobs. Especially the Pork girls who were at the AOU this year.

Seriously, get off the pipe fellas; XBLA pricing for new releases?!?.

As long as developers keep the GOOD shmup releases coming on disc, I'll be whoring it out to pay for them (it won't be pretty, hairy and drag never are :P), and gladly.

Support your shmups you cheap bitches

I would be pretty bummed if I couldn't get an actual physical copy of a game I paid for. That is the only minus to XBL, VC and PS3 downloads I think. Other than that, I suppose I would have to deal.
