Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.

Other projects?

I'm sorry if my post wasn't clear. I meant other STG projects from different companies.Sumez wrote:Other projects?
For example a game called Infinos from Picorinne Soft:
http://picorinnesoft.web.fc2.com/game.html
I think they already had a game with this name, but this is a new version. Only thing i understood is that's still in development and scheduled to release in 2017.
Kind of an old school one with some environmental hazards.
Another one that caught my attention was Rolling Gunner, a Hori shooter with a more modern look and some interesting patterns.
Both Windows releases, not mobile crap.

Is this it?_rm_ wrote:Another one that caught my attention was Rolling Gunner, a Hori shooter with a more modern look and some interesting patterns.
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Yup, that's the one. I didn't tried it but it seemed interesting.

Here's an interview with Hiroyuki Kimura--the first in either English or Japanese, I believe: http://gaming.moe/?p=2303

Here's a full run of the second stage, still WIP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVZlsw44pw8

So, is it gonna be game as it should be, or another f2p abomination with grinding for level ups?
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Free to Play.

Looks quite good for a mobile game - nowhere as flashy as actual Cave games but still the gameplay looks as solid as mobile can get. The cel-shaded aesthetic is quite appealing IMO.
I wonder what kind of model they're going to apply to this one. I'm cautiously optimistic that maybe it would get ported to steam if its not designed to be too riddled with microtransactions.

I like how it looks.
Seems like a less lazy DDP max, at least art-wise.
Let's hope they do it right. Like actually design the game for mobile instead of try to make an arcade game.

I would love to have this on PC with mouse controls. Can Android emulation do that?
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Technically yes, but I doubt performance would be good enough to make it preferable to playing on an actual device.

Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
There is one emulator I think has the performance, but it's definitely not noob friendly. It's marketed more as a tool for Android developers .. right off the bat, it doesn't have any of the Google apps pre-installed, and you need to manually choose which version of Android to install. Knowledge of Android is pretty much a requirement to even use it.Shepardus wrote:Technically yes, but I doubt performance would be good enough to make it preferable to playing on an actual device.
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Tanaka is awesome though he might be tired of everything after all these yearsthese guys were bottom of the barrel at cave probably (except for the BG designer)

Reminds me Valkyria Chronicles a bit.Not bad. This cel-shaded look is kind of neat.
They are absolutely batshit mental
Kind of? See interview with KimuraIs it still mobile only?

So, I told my wife that I was going to retire from game development. However, her reaction surprised me. She said: “you’ve spent so many years giving so much for other people, but I’d rather see you create your own company so that you can focus on what you want to do. I married you because I liked how much you enjoyed developing games, and I don’t want you to see you quit.” Those words changed my mind, and I decided that I wanted to teach younger game developers about how fun developing games can be, and created Tanoshimasu.
If there’s anything special, it’s that unlike typical shooters, you won’t be invincible while using the bomb.
He doesnt understand that it's usually smartphone games which are usually being lost forever, especially if tied to online services. When we announced Aka to Blue, we got some criticism that said “shooters that you can’t play with an arcade controller are boring”, and “why don’t you release this on PC?” However, since the smartphone is currently the platform that’s most embraced by all ages, I think it’s the optimal place to release shooters in order to get your game played by as many people as possible. There isn’t even the barrier of having to buy the hardware. As the times change, so do the platforms that people play games on. If shooting games evolve along with the new platforms, they won’t fade away. As developers, we have to propose ways of playing on these platforms, and hope that the gameplay we’ve provided will be seen as something new in the eyes of players. We can’t move forward if people give up on games just because they can’t be played how they used to. And of course, it doesn’t help anybody if whole game genres disappear along with older platforms.
p.s.
Too bad i got rid of my android cellphone, so i'm left with ios tablet which i never jailbreak. So no japanese-only mobile releases for me.Currently we haven’t decided whether we will release Aka to Blue overseas or not. Honestly, we’ve been developing with money I’ve had in my savings, but those are about to hit bottom. It’d be great if I spoke English, but I don’t, so I’m in a bind. It would be great to hear from anyone who could help us sell the game overseas.
*btw i hated Gothic Mahowhatever from Cave because of unneeded level up system and damn downloading content after each stage.

Wonder if we'll ever see pc or pcb releases

Well if you read the quoted text: most probably not.

This looks great! Any news on the release date?
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
I find it interesting that they chose to go down this route now, when even famous mainstream brands are struggling with the mobile market and its business models.
Some design choices are.. questionable, to say it politely (not gameplay-wise, but art direction), but then again.. what do I know.

Aka to Blue is done and will be released very, very soon--the iOS version will be out in a matter of days, the Android version is still being optimised and will be released later.
For those who haven't been paying attention, this is a traditional, single-purchase game: no grinding, no IAP, etc. The price hasn't been announced but it should be around 1000 yen, maybe a little lower.
Here's the most recent trailer from a few days ago, made to show of the SDOJ-style VA; there are some other recent-ish videos on their channel showing off some of the mid-game stages and bosses:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aha9QMTKo20
IGN Japan interviewed them recently and the devs revealed that the earlier scrapped version of the game was actually version 2--the original unseen version was pure 2D and would have featured Namco characters and a lot of minigame-style stages, but a combination of licensing issues and workload forced them to retool the game, and then personnel and quality issues forced them to retool yet again to the version we see now. The majority of the final game was made by two dudes, apparently... good for them for sticking it out.

Damn, not gonna lie, this looks pretty cool.
Hopefully they'll port it to PCs.

Ha, that boss certainly must be an "homage" of DOJ's stage 1 boss, eh? Kinda wish they'd just announce a PC port on top of everything.

Hope it's not region locked - i don't jailbreak since 2010.GSK wrote:Aka to Blue is done and will be released very, very soon--the iOS version will be out in a matter of days, the Android version is still being optimised and will be released later.
Btw i also bought DDP Maximum while it works which i hated at first... But it's cool. I'm stuck on 2nd half of 5-A though
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
The release was postponed in order to further polish the game; they're back to promising a simultaneous iOS/Android launch but there's no ETA for release.
They also seem to have locked down their youtube channel, which makes me wonder whether they're going to overhaul the game yet again.

Same, I'd have to flash a custom Android 5.0+ ROM to be able to play it on my Galaxy S3 according to the Google Play page because the device will no longer receive any updates.rtw wrote:This game is incompatible with your device (Android version)GSK wrote:Out now for iOS and Android:
