The economy was already screwed before this happend. Things are much worse now with gas prices rising, etc.
Minimum wage isn't going up, but everything else is. I predict that gas prices will match minimum wage. Some places wages are higher. For example, in this part of South Texas MW is $5.15....I can see gas hitting that range in a few weeks. In other words, people will work simply to put gas in their cars, just so they can drive to work!!! (pretty sad, actually)
I wouldn't even want to guess at how tough it will be to find jobs in Houston Texas, amoung other places! With all the new people flooding in over there(sorry, no pun intended) just expect unemployment as well as homelessness to be on the rise.
People who, perhaps, had nice homes/jobs, now don't...and most are coming to Texas.
Someone said earlier about the US on the verge of another "depression", I hate to agree, but I think that could actually be the case in the near future.
Don't forget people, gas prices were on the rise BEFORE Katrina.
They were on the rise due to the "gouging" (spelling) of Labor Day Weekend. The oil companies know everybody will be doing some serious driving during these days. In fact, it was thought that the prices of gasoline would lower, or become "stable" after Labor Day. But now, considering what happend, they'll be increasing just like my high scores in Radiant Silvergun. (when you think oil company higher ups, think Japhei)
Its possible that insurance companies will need financial help too...don't be too surprised if the cost of home owners insurance goes up, not to mention taxes as well.
I sure as hell won't be buying any more video games!
