My last opnion on things regarding this issue...

The economy was already screwed before this happend. Things are much worse now with gas prices rising, etc.
Minimum wage isn't going up, but everything else is. I predict that gas prices will match minimum wage. Some places wages are higher. For example, in this part of South Texas MW is $5.15....I can see gas hitting that range in a few weeks. In other words, people will work simply to put gas in their cars, just so they can drive to work!!! (pretty sad, actually)

I wouldn't even want to guess at how tough it will be to find jobs in Houston Texas, amoung other places! With all the new people flooding in over there(sorry, no pun intended) just expect unemployment as well as homelessness to be on the rise.
People who, perhaps, had nice homes/jobs, now don't...and most are coming to Texas.

Someone said earlier about the US on the verge of another "depression", I hate to agree, but I think that could actually be the case in the near future.

Don't forget people, gas prices were on the rise BEFORE Katrina.
They were on the rise due to the "gouging" (spelling) of Labor Day Weekend. The oil companies know everybody will be doing some serious driving during these days. In fact, it was thought that the prices of gasoline would lower, or become "stable" after Labor Day. But now, considering what happend, they'll be increasing just like my high scores in Radiant Silvergun. (when you think oil company higher ups, think Japhei)

Its possible that insurance companies will need financial help too...don't be too surprised if the cost of home owners insurance goes up, not to mention taxes as well.

I sure as hell won't be buying any more video games!

We've got about 40-50 (No telling how many are at churches) families at the national guard armory here. I know these people are going to have a hard time finding a job.

I remember putting in job applications at ever possible business here before. The only job offer I got was scraping scum off the bottom of boats during certain times of the year 20hrs a week for minimum wage.(Seems to be a case of not what you know but who you know) Glad I at least have a good steady job now.

I'm surprised people are not calling radio stations and requesting that "rock you like a hurricane" not be played. I heard this song playing on the local rock station, on saturday, and it seemed kind of sick to me especially since SA is a major refugee station.

Well, thank God people aren't THAT stupid.
I mean if everybody made a list of things that offend them, we would be left with absolutely nothing!

For me this song is a silly boast about how well some dude has sex.

For someone who just came into san antonio from one of the worst disasters in American history being "rocked like a hurricane" means having your kids die before your eyes, baking out in the hot sun, an uncaring president not giving a crap about you, and being left with absolutely nothing in the world.

Basically I wouldn't blame the guy for being offended.

Yea, I see your point. But things like this can go either way...
Lets say, that, some point in someones life they were carjacked by some thugs, does that mean they have a right to request certain types of Rap music from being played?

Say your family was a victim of some KKK bullshit, should they be offended by white people, or country music?

The song "Rock You Like A Hurricane" isn't really in "bad taste". It is, like you said before, about sex.
Ohh, Ohh...soon all raped women will have the right to be offended by this song as well!!! (even though its not about rape)
See my point? Going through life only to be offended by such trivial things is retarded. Which is why I said, "Thank God people aren't that stupid".

I feel bad about what happend with Katrina and all those families, but placing "blame" or association on a song written by some Germans in 1983, is just dumb!

I'm sure the US has more important things to be concerned about, than whats being played on the radio.

PS: Not trying to be a dick, I'am however a long time fan of the Scorpions, so...
I know your going to try and "prove me wrong" somehow some way...hope not.

Something similar happend with 911 in regards to the "anthrax/letter" stuff.
The long time "Thrash Metal" band Anthrax considered changing their name to something less offensive from the situation. Well, after the fact, fans agreed that they should keep their name as it is, and should never be confused with 911 in any way. Its also called keeping your chin up, so to speak.
Point is, you can't just place your head in the sand all the time.

Lets not even start with one of my favorite Led Zep songs..."When the Levy Breaks".

People are already placing enough blame/finger pointing, and getting offended, lets not include songs written by foreigners from over 20 years ago into the grand equation.
