The only reason I wouldn't give this a pass is if you had a game breaking Code 4 or something seriously non compliant.

Passed. Enjoy reading your feedback on XNA forum!
Never picking up that dumbass blue weapon ever again. The freakin' stage 1 boss timed out on me even though I used like all my bombs on it. I might aswell urinate on the enemies!!

I tested on my dev account but will definitely be buying for my main account when it passes review

I'll thank you here too! Thanks!
Yeah, blue weapon works like a charm on the levels but at the bosses it feels underpowered. But then again, you can always point-blank...

Fark that. High level stuff right there.
So - it's been running the high score screen for the last god knows how many hours and it's still really stable. Had it next to me playing the attract sequence all day. You really have nailed the arcade feel here man.
Massive props to you!

What was that?
I'm still waiting for a "all four stages" quote (but the game's got 6 of them, at least).

I just gotta ask, what A:R will I get when I play this game on my 4:3 CRT using my 360 (if/when it ends up on XBLIG)?

Re: Twin Tiger Shark [Poll Question Changed]
You get letterboxed - I tested the game in this way. Sadly there's not really a whole lot he can do to fix it.
That said, although it's not /perfect/ - the game still looked fantastic.
Doing support for lower resolutions is a not too tricky in itself, but the game has already been designed to be played in 16:9 mode. He wouldn't really be able to give you an option to switch resolution at runtime as this causes the xbox to absolutely shit itself. It's not sensible - like a PC. I've tried...
In order to not look complete ass he'd have to extend the actual viewport and playable area to 540 pixels and then force the game to use whatever resolution the console supports and then do all sorts of weird hackery.
Most of the battle here is not getting the console to run in 640x480 without letterbox (If you dunno how to do this mice - ping me a message and I'll share the secrets in exchange for some lessons on your QR code stuff) -- it's the godawful process of peer review.
Your game will fail if you have important gameplay information in the outer 20% of your monitor. Your game will also fail if your fonts are not readable from a certain distance away. Getting Chronoblast done to a standard where it didn't fail PR was absolutely bananas and quite stressful. You're forced in to using certain sized fonts, you have to make considerations so that particular menu elements appear in the center of the screen at all times so the user has no way of going full retard without a helping hand to get them back. It's the reason the viewport resets every time you go to adjust screen - because I can't guarantee all the damned buttons being on screen and some anally retentive dickwad can and will fail a game on that basis with a fat grin on his face.
I'll take a picture of it running on a tate'd CRT later on - it really doesn't look bad so please don't be too put off by it. It's a very polished little arcade homage and well worth the purchase when it passes review

Re: Twin Tiger Shark [Poll Question Changed]
The resolution is sat to 1280x720 so it will be letterboxed / black-bordered (or what the name is) on a 4:3 TV.
Edit:
Norty, thanks!
I could have made a 4:3 mode screen with wallpaper gfx and all, but I never got around to it and then decided to skip it.
One of my earlier, not released, games had a resolution-change-on-the-fly implementation that worked well, so it could have been done.

Re: Twin Tiger Shark [Poll Question Changed]
As long as the TATE mode is full screen on the 16:9 area, it's fine. I can use my screen settings in the cabinet to stretch it a bit extra as I imagine I'll be playing it quite a bit.

When you say this - do you mean actually changing the res once the game is up and running on the 360?mice wrote:One of my earlier, not released, games had a resolution-change-on-the-fly implementation that worked well, so it could have been done.

Re: Twin Tiger Shark [Poll Question Changed]
Oh neat. Whenever I've tried to change graphics settings on the fly - the xbox has usually shat itself in a panic or something equally terrible has occurred.
I'm guessing it was actually quite simple, I have not adhered to KISS principles and deserve all the pain.

Naw, you'll be fine. It's genuinely a good game and has the added bonus of being by "one of our own"
. If the community have you for dinner over this game then there is something wrong with the community.
Congrats on finishing what I personally think is your best xblig release to date.

Haha, emphatic, it's you?!?!
But you can't run 4 loops...
EDIT: Ah, so 4-4 is when getting the end...probably. Not good. Need to check that.

Re: Twin Tiger Shark [Poll Question Changed]
Yeah, that's me.
It was my first credit, didn't realize the default setting was Easy.

(Stretched using the monitor controls)
Bugs found (so far):
* When you have the green weapon powered to the max, it disappears when you're right under any enemies that require more than one shot to kill
* The current score can only show 999,999 pts on the screen, the million points appear off screen

Ninja edit above. I got to 4-4, yeah, but then my youngest started to scream and behave in a way I had to deal with, so I had to end the credit.mice wrote:Haha, just super!
