In all seriousness, just realised he dropped of the map all of a sudden. He was one of the more entertaining characters here - even if his posting style was rather unique. I liked that dude.
If anyone's seen him, tell him to come back.

But his account doesn't note that he is banned at this point, perhaps system11 can confirm?Ruldra wrote:http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 18#p909618

I remember either Ghegs or system11 saying that sometimes they ban people without adding the 'Banned User' tag to avoid follow-up threads about the ban. And considering how pissed off system11 was at the time, I assumed he followed through with his threat.jonny5 wrote:But his account doesn't note that he is banned at this point

This. I went hiking with him once in the Sierras; a really great time! He seemed very excited about school but these other problems kept looming. Yeah, and then he deleted everything. I'm going to assume he didn't do something horrible and is just off clearing his head. Honestly, nobody really needs the internet--maybe he's happier without it.drauch wrote:I'm buddies with him in other realms of the internet land, and I know Cmoon (I think) has hung out with him in the past. It's been a few months, but he deactivated his Facebook account as well. Last I remember, he moved and went to school, then promptly deleted everything.

he was sort of an asshole but ultimately a decent guy
Having gone through some extremely dark times of my own, I can confirm that this is absolutely the best medicine. Even well-meaning (and even mild) advice can sound like harsh criticism to those who are already in a spiral of self-indictment, although I credit myself for never having lashed out at anyone else. There is something to be said, however, for a swift kick in the ass, if timed properly. I was lucky enough to benefit from well-timed tough love.spadgy wrote: The one thing I've really learned is often it's not about listening with a view too offering solution-focused advice; sometimes it's just about listening, being a sounding board, making a cup of tea (the cure to most things in the UK) and persistently reassuring them that it will be OK and that you are on their side and will keep listening. That, and offering a bit of boringly logical perspective when somebody is thinking they are nothing but useless and worthless.
