Rob - 2,355,261,220,140 - Exp 4,958,581 - 6

Dammit. 50,000exp off my goal and on the boss. Could've easily gotten that from the last form.

Just out of curiousity, can anyone snapshot the Level8 form of Mosquitoes 1 and 2?

I just started playing this game, so awesome, but I can hardly manage to get past stage 3.

I want to take this moment to curse. Into stage 6 with 5m exp (600,000/400,000/2,000,000/900,000/1,100,000) and 3 extra lives. So close, nearly identical score. I tried hard. :(

Also, ship type 1 is hardly a handicap. So, it's a little slower. With that comes steadiness. I played about an hour of type 1 and was surprised to find all of the chains can be basically transferred over with minimal modifications or variance in result. A few games over 3m exp (1 or 2 2000+ chains on stage 3).

Hilarious, as you're way above any Japanese standard and roughly 200 B over the max out (considering the DC score should be halved, to get an arcade-like result). I think this is the easiest game to max out, in this sense...

Hmm, I'm getting a suspicion MM is shockingly unpopular in Japan. I recall seeing a sales figure list for DC games and MM was well under the rest of the shooters (3000 to 10-15000, I think). I bet also since the score maxes out in the arcade (and how did Takumi not anticipate that?), not many bothered beyond what is necessary (unless playing at home, like me - the real fans!).

Rob, stfu please

But no, the sales were about 8k, probably because of the max out thing.

I remember seeing some Taiwanese scores which were max-outs AND in the 5M range, but not above. Maybe the arcade version maxes out the multiplier as well...?

At any case, i'll only upload 1-CCs from now, try hard

I don't want to disturb you little conversation about bad-selling-shooters in japan, but I like Mars Matrix very much, too! ;)
I played it first in dec. 2003, but last month i began similarly to Plasmo to play it on score... and it ain't as hard as i first thought! :)

My Score (Dreamcast-Version):

6143.2892.9240
EXP: 1.494.163 (DAMN, i got 2million on an 5491oku-Run! )
Stage: 5
Default Options
MOSQUITO 02

...and last but not least:
Can anyone tell me how to activate the "New Ship Color" which I bout a million years ago in the Shop?

Buy the option in the shop. I think all of the special options are only used in elite mode B. Press up or down on the ship select screen.

Yeah, thanks! Lime green rocks.. I hope the new Background graphics (only 80.0000 to go^^) are just as cool as the new color is ;)

And because I played Stage 3 on Elite Mode B... what about a little Fun-Challenge? "Get as much EXP as you can in Stage 3, Elite mode B" ;)

My max EXP for now: 10.362.135

Nah. Looks like you have it, that's pretty high. The elite score attacks are a neat novelty, but seem to be very different from the rest of the game (not as good). My controllers are broken anyways. 8)

I started the combo at the tea cans and finished it after the big cube-generators and some reflection-cubes. The most exp are from the boss with a 3400-combo. It isn't so hard to get such a score, try it out (again) =)

ps: how long did you practice untill you get such a horrible huge score of 2,5000?

Played 100-200 hours over 3 years, I'd guess, 50 of which I might call "practice."

I think I've almost unlocked the pink backgrounds too.

Well, I tried score attack elite mode b again (with mushed d-pad!) and it's just a pain. I feel like I'll throw off my groove in normal mode learning a different way to play it. I did get about 5m exp on the pre-boss. I'd guess the boss is another 5m at a 3400 chain? The stage and boss can't be bridged, can they? I played a bit of stage 3 normal afterwards and it felt weird, so enough of that.

Do you need a new DC pad Rob? I have three new ones just sitting around, I could give you one.

That's OK, thanks for the offer. I just took out my last new one. It seems kind of junk out of the box (d-pad, naturally), so I should probably learn to use the Saturn pad I've got since these are wearing out too quickly. I think it might be time for a break anyways.

@Rob
5m? Pre-Boss?^^
Well, anyway, I got a 2100combo in whole stage 3 untill after the EXP-"factory" and that were 2,2m EXP. The Boss is about 8 or 9m exp, of course its possible to chain it completely.

Elite Mode B, stage 3?? I decided to take a gander at what I had and it seems to be 17,906,370 exp. How else would anyone earn those extra backgrounds?

Hmm, well I must've had a 3000+ chain on the stage portion (2.3mexp is my max for a regular game on that stage). The boss is a gusher I guess. Did you hit the various small bits?

The long(er) way, filled with worn out d-pads and dozens of trillion point games. The 2 trillion point games help. I think I've had almost 10 of those.

Small bits? Well, if you're talking about those small exp-cubes, yeah I got my combo essentially with them. Its great if you can just shoot an ordinary tank-guy for holding combo instead of maniac-like dodges ;)

ps: If I play Elite Mode B (not in the Score Challenge menu), the little cubes aren't 'activated', the whole game is just like in the arcade mode. Is that my fault? :|

No, only the score challenges have the extra small cubes. Which is pretty stupid, as it's kind of hard to practice the entirely different layouts of Elite Mode A. An entire game like that (for B) would be more interesting.

The bits I was talking about are those green/blue/pink (?) pods that shoot many of the bullet patterns from the sides.

Yes, I hit them. It isn't so hard, is it? You just have to use that Bulletsprayer-tactic, you know... moving slow from one to the other side ;)

PS: Lol? No small cubes in whole Elite Mode B? What kind of a mode is that then... ?
It would be very interesting to see what is the max in getting EXP over the whole game with the cubes. I think it would be about 50million (maybe the baby-cubes aren't activated because the developers still suffer on the traumatic mistake with the arcade-version, 9999.9999.9999... that was cool ;) )

Elite Mode B is for all of the special options, so making the cube chain time slower or ship faster and a score with those enhancements wouldn't be confused with an arcade mode score (I guess). Try playing with the fastest setting.
