Sorry to bust in on this topic, but I couldn't help but notice that everyone who's submitted a score thus far has used the Mosquito-2...maybe a separate table for the Mosquito-1 would encourage people to try and use that ship instead? Just a suggestion though...I'm absolutely awful at this game (and this is "awful for BM" I'm talking about here, as opposed to "awful in general") and even I'm too embarassed to submit a score to this, heh heh.

Ok people, i'll add a separate table once i'll get at least a Mosquito01 score (read: once BM will try and make the table, as i'm too lazy to do it myself
).
Rob: i think that you're missing one fundamental aspect, which is blowing up stuff. In order to score well, you should hit 2M exp by the end of stage 3, and 2,5M by the end of stage 4.Stage 5 can give about another 1,3M, and by that point, you should mind only to blow everything. If so, you can score about 40% of the total score on the last stage alone. What's your progression, exp-wise?

believe it or not, this is my all-time high on this game.
Skyline - 330,420,779,960 - EXP 1,130,755 - Stage 4 - M01 - Dreamcast
The M02 beats the living hell out of the M01 in every aspect of the game, except subtle dodging. The slower speed helped me a LOT.
Is there enough interest for DC Arrange Mode A/B tables?

Stage 2 I can't connect the chains. Stage 3 I miss the intro and ending. Stage 4 I pretty much have nothing after the midboss. I probably just need to finish stage 5 for once.

IMO for a game like this it's not too big a deal, since there are only two ships, and up till now one of them has been completely ignored...I'll leave it up to Rando to decide though. At least in GB2 the scoring potentials for the characters are at least relatively even (unlike, say, Shiki 2, which I suggested splitting sometime back, since the only scores were Kuga and Kim), and players are using at least a couple of different chars.
Then again, I always like some recognition for the underdog, so maybe I will suggest a Hei-Cob table.

Scoring potential is nearly even in most games (Psyvariar 2 an obvious exception that I can think of). I think it's a good idea to split tables when scoring methods are completely different (Shiki 2), but this is the same game for both ships. It's just one ship is slower and has a wider shot. The reason people don't use it is probably because it's more of a beginner ship (?) designed more for survival, but I'm sure the records would indicate that their scoring potential is nearly equal.

Well, again, if it turns out to be a bust then Rando can just fuse the two again. I still prefer not to see playable ships completely ignored if I can help it, but that's just me.
In any event, I'd definitely group MM under one of those games where scoring and survival are at least somewhat one and the same (though obviously there's going to be a big gap in score between those who can scratch out a 1CC and those who milk the game for all it's worth), since if you don't chain well you're gonna be left with wimpy weapons later on a la RSG (though here you also have the piercing laser to fall back on, to some degree), so I'm not sure if there'd really be such thing as a "beginner" ship in here.

I have a score for that.Rob wrote:What's next, a Hei Cob table in GB2?

I should get back to MM, and work on building chains. Furthest I got was the stage five boss, I believe the last form. I always have trouble seeing the bullets at that boss.
The replay player used the M01 at the last stage, and lost a life. I wonder why they did include that particular run, surely he can do it without losing a life. I wonder if he was near the dealine of something.
New tables up (thanks BM!).
On chains: as a general rule, stage 2 is 2 chains. I don't know if oing one chain is even possible at all, as the critical point (the spinning turret and the drones before that) seems not to be chainable, given the too long hiatus of bullets before that. Stage 3...the chain can last until the boss, with excellent results (1,3-1,4M) if you can make a proper reflection on the spammers.Usually, the trick is to create a column of vertical bullets on the side you're moving to, as the spammers maye cut you off from the block of cubes you've created. Stage 4...after the mid-boss, you need to destroy as many green ships as possible, for scoring purposes. On the manowar, you need to destroy the central turret as early as possible, then the various sections, there's a +800 chain possibility.
At any case, i've covered the stages in the ST
