I have one of the "retrogaming scart to mini-din" with the sync stripper built in. With lots of consoles i don't get any image at all, the Playstation using the snakebyte rgb cable don't give any image, but with a cheap 3rd party scart cable works. Strange. Will be better to use the "Euro scart to mini din" adapter without the sync stripper? It is far more reliable to use the sync stripper cable that piggy-backs power from the DC in. I guess it must be harder to make that since everyone keeps selling these unreliable sync stripper cables.. then we get loads of people on here asking why they can only get a blue screen with certain consoles
I don't even know if sync stripping is needed any more on the latest firmware.

As said so many times before: Don't use a sync stripper unless you have to. With the Mini, I don't use one on any of my systems.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Your snakebyte cable probably does not have pin 10 (5V) on the playstation a/v out connected, and your cheap 3rd party cable probably does.Overkill wrote:I have one of the "retrogaming scart to mini-din" with the sync stripper built in. Ok cool well I'll just grab a Japanese Saturn from ebay. My old one didn't work at all, I've no idea if it was the cable or whatever but I'll try another model

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I definitely needed one with my N64 originally, but I've not tested since the various firmware updates came out. Luckily I got the sync stripper cable that piggy backs the power from the DC in and never had a single problem with it. I'm absolutely convinced that all the issues stem from the cables not getting the correct voltage from the SCART, rather than the Mini rejecting the cleaned sync.Don't use a sync stripper unless you have to. With the Mini, I don't use one on any of my systems.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
that's probably right. Some systems only offer an unstable power supply for a sync stripper. PCEs for example. So, even with everything wired correctly, they don't really work well when powered by the video source. On earlier Mini firmware versions some system needed a stripped indeed, but you really don't one any longer.

The NTSC 1CHIP Super famicom works on the XRGB Mini with a RGB scart cable with composite Sync?

I used to not have it and having the signal go through a switch the sync signal got shite and was all wobbly, not cutting the game off or anything but looked horrendous, with an externally powered sync stripper that disappeared right awayBuckoA51 wrote:It is far more reliable to use the sync stripper cable that piggy-backs power from the DC in. Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hi Guys, as you will tell from my lack of posts I am a newbie here. I picked up an XRGB Mini a few weeks ago and it is absolutely BRILLIANT!
The purpose of my post really is to find out if there is a guide anywhere for best settings? I have seen what is written at JunkerHQ and followed that but just wanted to see if anyone here had any other advice they could give me? All bar 1 of my consoles connects up using RGB Scart cables. My N64 which is a regular PAL machine connects up using a Modified S-Video cable as this is the best I can do at the moment until I pick up an RGB 4 All kit for it.
I have hit an issue with Sonic 2 (Mega Drive) 2 Player mode in which the picture is exceptionally wobbly and never stable yet in 1P mode it is totally fine and looks excellent. Any ideas on things I can do to help?
Mega Drive with a Pure Sync RGB Scart cable, connected to the XRGB Mini with the Sync Stripper circuit inside the Female Scart Connector that is powered by the 5V power adapter that im using with the Mini. I can provide a Video if you guys need to see what I mean.
Thanks for your time.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
MD 480i (that's Sonic 2 in 2-player mode) is currently not compatible with the Mini. The only other 480i title I can think of if the 1-level Wreck-it-Ralph demo that's available.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Sorry if this sounds a bit lazy, but I seem to experience an issue with what I can only describe as a signal that is "too strong" with two different cables from two different devices (SNES and NESRGB-modded NES).
The games themselves look almost normal, but you can see what I assume is "banding" when you have dark colors next to light colors. It is like the colors from nearby large blocks (Super Mario Bros title screen) bleeds out and all the way across the screen (into the blue sky). It is actually quite subtle.
If I change the brightness on my display to something dark, I can still see the same effect.
That makes me wonder if I should tweak the mini a bit somehow. I pretty much just switch between natural and picture modes (I believe is what the buttons are called) I am also on firmware 1.07a, btw.

Has anyone combined this with a HDMI capture device?
Seems like a good idea to me for video capture of SD RGB machines.

Only almost everyday I stream. Works great with Avermedia cards and XCAPTURE-1 though the latter is a bit overkill.speedlolita wrote:Has anyone combined this with a HDMI capture device?

Works great with my consolized Atomiswave, and I'm super picky about video. I used a mini din to Euro scart cable that someone had made for me for another system, and it looked like crap which is why I tried ordering that cable.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hey guys,
I finally caved in and bought the XRGB Mini. I love it so far except I'm having difficulty with scan lines. I'm running it in Standard and when scan lines are on I get horizontal lines of pixels every 2 or 3 inches that appear noticeably brighter. I can't tell if they really are brighter of if the scan lines are uneven but it's more obvious on brighter backgrounds and backgrounds that scroll vertically. I'm outputting to HDMI in 720p and I've already tried fussing with the scaling and the vertical width. I'm wondering if maybe it could be noise from the composite cables (RGB cables are on their way). I'll try and send a picture later.
Also, why can't I change the odd and even scan line settings and is there there an ideal size for the scan lines for a 50" TV?
Thanks!
**EDIT**
It's definitely uneven scan lines. Not sure what to do.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
See if your TV has any option to change the Picture Size/Overscan settings. My old TV did not, and I could not eliminate the problem as a result. My new TV does have some options for this, and scanlines in 720p look nearly perfect with the right Picture Size setting on it.
Note: I am not referring to Aspect Ratio when I say Picture Size.

The odd and even scanline settings are for 480i and 480p. With 240p they are grayed out. The size of your TV doesn't matter, what matters is the resolution. It sounds to me like your TV has a low resolution, like 1024x768, which could explain why the scanlines look so bad. If that's the case then there's not much you can do about it :/ckoz wrote: Also, why can't I change the odd and even scan line settings and is there there an ideal size for the scan lines for a 50" TV?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I got my xrgb mini in last night to replace my xrgb2+ and so far the thing looks mint. I am thinking the colors look more dim than the xrgb2+ though, is there some sort of setting for that?
I'm really wanting to get some more retro consoles to use with this thing though, only have a snes. Where should I start?

I'd start with a Sega MD/Genesis. They don't need to be modded to do RGB and look great on the Mini. Also it's my favorite retro consolenarcispy wrote: I'm really wanting to get some more retro consoles to use with this thing though, only have a snes. Where should I start?

Yeah I might be out of luck. My TV is a 720p Samsung DLP with no "just scan" option. It does have a zoom 1 and zoom 2 setting but I'm guessing that won't do much. One more question. Does it matter if the TV is set to 16:9 and the Mini to 4:3 or should it be the other way around?Konsolkongen wrote: The odd and even scanline settings are for 480i and 480p. There is a Saturation option in the Color Settings that may be what you're looking for.narcispy wrote:I am thinking the colors look more dim than the xrgb2+ though, is there some sort of setting for that?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Appreciate it. I only slightly messed with the A/D settings because I thought that had something to do with it, XRGB2+ never had that setting.MMJuno wrote:There is a Saturation option in the Color Settings that may be what you're looking for.narcispy wrote:I am thinking the colors look more dim than the xrgb2+ though, is there some sort of setting for that?

Where are the A/D settings? I keep hearing people mention them but I don't see A/D anywhere in the menus.narcispy wrote: I only slightly messed with the A/D settings because I thought that had something to do with it, XRGB2+ never had that setting.

It's under special, first option I believe.

I keep my TV in 16:9 and let the Mini handle the aspect ratio.ckoz wrote: Yeah I might be out of luck. My TV is a 720p Samsung DLP with no "just scan" option. The A/D setting is there for sure when you are using RGB or component (which you should, if you're not). The option may not be there if you are using composite or s-video.Where are the A/D settings? I keep hearing people mention them but I don't see A/D anywhere in the menus.

Hi, my xrgb-mini has just arrived.
Could you please tell me recommended settings for the following console (RGB input) ?
Mega Drive, Master System, Saturn, Dreamcast.
Thanks.
