Tim,

This was touched on much earlier in the thread, but I just wanted to clarify:

Will the 2nd (currently shipped) batch of PCB's contain any of the revisions/additions that you were in the process of hypothesizing/adopting?

It doesn't make any difference to me, one way or the other; I'm just curious.

As I stated earlier in the thread, Tim said that this second batch is identical to the first.

Thanks. It's hard to ascertain information from a 36 page thread with tidbits of information coming from various sources.

Great! Hopefully I'll have my AV Famicom Multi-Out panel replicant perfected by then. I'm still just a bit off on the color pigmentation.

I'm stoked!

I didn't receive any tracking information. Just a link that can help you calculate delivery time, based upon geography.

In the webshop he states that the Australian post doesn't really give out any useful tracking ID's, I don't really understand that and dont' really feel comfortable a $200 envelope travelling around half the globe without any tracking possibility.
Only 2 weeks ago I had a letter from UK to Scandinavia going with Royal mail disappear completely, or at least it's 2 weeks late according to their schedule.

I've prolly received over 1000 packages in the last decade or so from all over the world while living on two different continents. Yet, less than five have ever gone missing. Even then I strongly suspect that the reason for those particular incidents were faul play as they all came from the same source.

In other words everyone dont get your panties in a bunch, packages dont just up and vanish. I once sent a game from Canada to Australia, it took over 3 months to get there but get there it did eventually. Be patient.

Agreed that untracked shipments and letters have an extremely high success ratio, otherwise no one would ship anything like that, ever.
However, I have seen too much in my professional life working with the post and delivery firms to blindly trust untracked shipments.
I would rather take control of the situation making sure I did everything possible to ensure the safety of a shipment, instead of leaving it at "good odds". Especially if it's something important or has a high value.

Of course, I've seen fully tracked shipments disappear into this air as well, so that isn't 100% fool proof either, but at least that way you can file a complaint and get a refund and maybe even the insurance to pay out.

**edit**
Btw this is absolutely no rant towards Tim, just my general opinion on the matter of untracked shipments.

Tracked shipments from Australia to international destinations is likely to cost a pretty penny. I remember from when I lived in Canada that there was a very big jump from regular to tracked. I suppose the option should be there if someone wishes to go that route. Cannot recall if there was or not, but I sure as deuce always pick the cheapest when it comes to shipping so if the option was there I know what I picked.

So where are people sourcing A/V multi out sockets from, will anyone ever fabricate them?

I come from a land down under (sorry).
I live no more that 1 1/2 hr away from Tim.

Board is exactly the same as pictured on the site, just without white text in a corner.

Overseas postage with tracking is expensive from oz check auspost.com.au.

Postage cost to me is 6.95 which leave 1.05 for packaging which is nothing at all and probably at a lose.

Surely with 3d printing places like shapeways some can fashion a multi port. Might give it a go.

So far they've been from dead SNESes or GameCubes. You might want to check out this thread on Assembler where someone's making a new backplate for the top loader with an integrated multiout: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/sh ... out-socket

I got 2 multiAV ports that I'm willing to sell to anyone interested. One came from SNes the other from GameCube. Pm me if interested.

I don't understand the hype with the SNES multi-out when there are alternatives like the mini-din 9 or whatever.

What makes it superior in your view? Is it the design of the whole shabang or a feature?

I totally got lost at that site www.shapeways.com
so many cool things you could do with that thing, how about a Zelda cartridge in gold plated polished brass?
Or a NES console shell in Sterling Silver or a dark steel polish

I think it's mostly to make it look more official. Its also nice to be able to use the same cable for your NES, SNES, and N64. I have one in mine and like it that way.

Now that is a truly valid reason!

The only console i have ever owned was a NES, until two years ago when I bought a PS3 slim, which I sold after a month because it sucks!

Nope, the NES is the only console I have ever Truly enjoyed. Maybe that's why I never got around to the multi cable so yeah, naturally today that isn't even in my vocabulary and I'd choose something more in the line of a mini-din.

I'm in the final stages of perfectly replicating the AV Famicom Multi-Out panel for use in the Top-Loader.

Jason (Game-Tech.US), and a couple of others are aware of this project of mine. I'll bring it to the open forum once the quality comes to a production level.

Are you only doing Multi-out panels? Or is there going to be other options? I personally want to stick to a mini-din, but I'd love to have a cleaner solution than additional drilling holes in the case.

There are several variations in the works. A version for those who choose to omit the RF modulator box, a version that doesn't omit the RF Modulator Box, RCA/Composite, RCA, Mini-DIN, TRS, Mini-DIN, etc.

More than likely, the non multi-out panels will be manufactured by me on an "as ordered basis", seeing that there isn't really a standard, it's a customer preference.

I would like to implement a system where the customer can select a panel out of several variants which will best accomodate their preferences and the components that they want to use.

Fantastic question!

I'd be very interested in grabbing one from you, I was in the process of filing out the existing backpanel on mine for a multiout but it's been proving to be a royal PITA.

Dremel is your friend for the rough cut and then nail file to smooth it out. Solder and screws can then hold it in place the same way it's done on the famicom AV. Very easy if you're handy with tools.

I can think of another reason. From Composite to s-video to RGB you can use the same connector for all of them all you need to do is swap out cables.

So no matter what tv you want to use the nesrgb on - you can.
