Sword of the berserk: Guts rage for the ps2

Post by postman »

I really enjoyed both the anime series and the Dreamcast beatemup game, and remember reading about a new ps2 version of SOTB, but can't seem to find much info about it...

Anyone know if it's been released yet?

Well, it's not new but it is totally awesome. Like the DC one in many ways but a little sweeter IMO. Have you seen Gamefaqs' page? If not here it is: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/data/915029.html

It was released last October. Good stuff, though the extra weapons you get after beating the challenges are worthless since they all play exactly like his regular sword.

Almost all of the stages are outdoors in wide open areas, so you don't really have that problem... but yeah, they fixed that.

I never understood why this was such an issue with some people. You had several ways to deal with enemies in narrow areas where you couldn't swing your sword, one of them being the vertical attack. I mean, yeah, they could have allowed the sword to clip thru the walls, but then people would have just relied on one attack the whole game, then criticise it for being a button masher.

The sweep attack went through walls (hold and release). Thats how I dealt with it.

Does it not being in english affect gameplay?

The story is really good tho, it follows the manga perfectly. Not my favorite story arc from the series, but they do it well. The boss battles are the best part, Griffith and Zodd especially. Great fan service.
