Apologies for the lameness of this question, but as this is one of my all time fave games, I need to know how to say it properly.
kthanx
Hmm, if you said it at EB games? Probably not. They might tell you to get an Xbox though. If you said it to a shooter fan however, there's a good chance they'd know what you mean.professor ganson wrote:If you said ee-kah-roo-gah at EB Games, do you think they'd know what you were talking about?
The one time in my life I had to use the word was at EB Games. I remember that the guy working there and I both said eye-karuga. Oh well.
I do have an Ikaruga t-shirt now, so there's a good chance I'll have to say the word at some point in the future. Thanks for the info.

Yup, he was the son of Cyrus the Great actually, who's hiring of some Spartan mercenaries in the long run inspired THE WARRIORS.professor ganson wrote:Right, wasn't there a Darius, King of Persia? Can't remember much about him.Neo Rasa wrote:The name itself holds its routes in Persia/west Asia.
You should have asked him if in the song "Protoculture" when he mentions "Batsu" he's referring to Batsugun.~Kid Icarus~ wrote:...when I met DEL this one time he was like 'IKA-ROOGA'...

Darius is a pretty rare name now but it does still exist today for some people. There's no "right" pronounciation due as a proper name given the differnet languages and dialects it's used in now, it's just whatever the person who's name it is wants. Dare-ee-us and Dahr-ee-us are the most commonly accepted western pronounciations.
As someone said earlier though, Darius in and of itself is something of a mistranslation of the Japanese name, so I'd say there's no "right" or "wrong" way to say the westernized name of the series.
