Game will be out in december as a digital download (probably DLsite, Messe Sanoh or Melonbooks Dojin Broadband Service) for 1.5k yen and in a boxed, retail edition in 2009 after C75.
Just out of interest what's C75? I see Exception is billed as C73 and a lot of Doujins have these C numbers. What are they....he asked ignorantly...
Enhasa posted all the info but I'll add a small wall of text: you could also see it as the "oasis" where japanese doujin devs are able to sell their stuff twice a year. Comiket is also the place where most devs go and present their latest releases, that also includes the ZUN, although this year Reitaisai was used to present the trial of Subterranean Animism and the full release of Scarlet Weather Rhapsody (Tasogare Frontier released the full OST during Comiket 74, pretty much the double disc I was waiting for the entire year next to RefleX OST... the cellist+violinist+pianist combo was made of pure win)

Exception was released last year during C73 but it sold out quickly. i-saint only printed like 100 copies so we, the 'foreigners', had to get it through Melonbooks online service or be in Japan to get one of the few physical copies. It also got a bit clouded by ThunderForce VI, I mean, Ether Vapor. ( :P )

mmm, I don't know how it went for everyone else but the improved trial of Cloudphobia loads a bit faster for me. The mechas and Panzer Dragoon-meets-Homeworld designs are so damn kickass...

If it's of any interest to anyone, I just learned from the author that he'll be selling it via paypal, so it should be navigable for non-japanese speakers.

Screw Space Giraffe! Cloudphobia's out NOW!

Man it feels satisfying buying a j-shmup without an absurd shipping fee.

I bought it and I like it.

I'm TSN on the rankings. Now let's see if I can remember how to play this.

I'm "Sexy." Look for me at the bottom.

Though now that I have an English translation of the manual, I see several mistakes I didn't even realize I was making.

I'm kinda hoping to acquire the retail box...wonder if Paletweb or Himeya will get any.

I was wondering the same till I saw the prices have gone a bit apeshit. Not so much in Himeya but it was too notorious in Palet, which used to have accessible prices for poor pockets like mine =( I wouldn't be surprised if they end up selling it for 30usd. Doing a quick conversion to yen, the 1.8k Marsbound asks for the retail should be nowhere near that number, probably close to 21-22! Add shipping and you get a recipe for depression.

Lucky I bought RefleX and Prizhm before the price increase...

At this rate I would rather buy it online or wait to see if someone goes to Japan and get a physical copy there.

Back to Cloudphobia, needlessly to say this is THE game with the freaking epic mecha, missile barrages (Macross, Macross!), super califragilistic graphics and awesomeness.

I JUST WANTED TO BE FREE.

edit: in other news...

This already had me drooling all over. I knew it was going to be good but, fuck yeah, it's just damn amazing. I was always fan of the ridiculously over the top Macross Missile Massacres (c) This is fanwankery at its pinnacle and makes me shed manly tears. (yes, I'm being that exaggerated, please bear with me =P)

Glad you enjoyed the video. :)

I think it put me third on the internet rankings which tells me not enough of you have bought the game yet.

I'll be recording/uploading stages 4 and 5 tomorrow.

I didn't even know about the game until I started lurking here again and read this very thread. ;)

Himeya got copies in, I already ordered mine along with some other stuff...turned into a surprisingly expensive shopping spree.

So, is it worth spending my hard-earned cash on buying Cloudphobia or should I try it 1st?
You see, I'm some what reluctant after blindly buying Thunder Force VI... :?

There is a trial version available on the game's homepage, y'know.

Time to resurrect an old thread - Cloudphobia can be bought from the latest Indie Royale Bundle for peanuts for the next five days.

The game sucks. Big time! Sorry, but timers and shooters just don't mix.

Hey, I didn't realize until I bought this that Rockin' Android had picked this up. Surprising that it wasn't even mentioned here.

I see some changes in the graphical options and interface - any idea if this was overhauled for the new release?

And now it only refills a limited amount of health and missiles between stages - I could swear that's a new addition.

You can also buy the game from Desura for only $5.99 (which I did). So far I really enjoy this!

I usually buy those indie bundles if I don't own the games already. You often get a surprise and a game that you didn't think looked very good turns out being pretty decent.

I did happen to pick that bundle up when it went up. Unfortunately, I didn't like the game a lot either, but I kept playing just because I wanted to try to see what all the stages looked like. I probably won't go back to it, but at least the other games in the bundle all looked promising, though I haven't gotten around to downloading the other games yet.

Cloudphobia is included in Groupes Build-a-Bundle 7, if anyone's interested: http://groupees.com/bab7

Basically, that means you can get it for $0.75.

That's only 15 cents per Joy Division reference! Image Cool game, already got a physical copy myself but would hit this otherwise.
