Ikaruga news incoming...
Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
As others have said, this is most likely an international Steam release of Ikaruga based off the XBLA version. Lately, many more Japanese developers (i.e. SNKP, Idea Factory) have realized the untapped money-making potential of the Western Steam market and have been porting their games there.

What Idea Factory one? Cause Agarest was Compile Heart.
I do wonder how Ikaruga would do on Steam. Don't think I'd buy it again though.

I'm not really interested in those game companies, so I wasn't really aware of that. I do have Agarest 1 on the 360, and I should probably finish it someday since I was on generation 5.
Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
You got a point. On the other hand, I don't buy into the promises of the cloud. I'd much rather have the game on a disc. I highly doubt that a physical release will happen, though.MarioNintendo wrote: Because the game is available on Xbox Live Arcade. I don't believe a hypothetical exclusive physical release of the same game on the same console would really help it become more accessible to anyone. It would be a disappointment because it would be a useless thing to do.
Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
Back in November 2012, Treasure said they working on a 3DS exclusive, but it hasn't even been a year since then. I also don't see a vert type game working on the 2/3DS and its' different sized screens.
Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
I actually think that both are great, but would give the nod to RS over Ikaruga if they were put head-to-head. Love them both, though.Skykid wrote:Silvergun is beautiful. I don't hate Ikaruga, but it was definitely a step back.

That game is Capcom's Gaist Crusher.Camp wrote:Back in November 2012, Treasure said they working on a 3DS exclusive, but it hasn't even been a year since then. I also don't see a vert type game working on the 2/3DS and its' different sized screens.

That was Rob from here?! Seen that vid awhile back, but never thought it was him. ... Yeah, he badly needs to do more vids.Necronopticous wrote:The best possibility would be an official Blu-ray release of Rob's timeless PRO REVIEW.
I'm still trying to get into Treasure shooters, but it's not easy whenever I see too many puzzle elements in their games, like stage 2 of Ikaruga (what a bore to replay, it seems to be so far? As it seems so linear).

Ikaruga news are old news. Give us something new.
This really can't be a sequel, can it?

Turns out the ikaruga news was steam release after all.

Cool stuff, another version of Ikaruga might not be a big deal, but another japanese dev on Steam should be, lotta things could happen if this goes well.AntiFritz wrote:Turns out the ikaruga news was steam release after all.

Would be cool if japanese devs saw steam as a "home version" of nescica

Hmm, actually, yeah, that would open up quite some possibilities to easily access some games that would otherwise never or unlikely see a western release.1up wrote:Would be cool if japanese devs saw steam as a "home version" of nescica
Crimzon Clove AC via steam would be an insta-buy for me...

Actually would make the Steam Boxes seem more attractive to me if Doujin and Shmup developers began to release more stuff on Steam.Drachenherz wrote:Hmm, actually, yeah, that would open up quite some possibilities to easily access some games that would otherwise never or unlikely see a western release.1up wrote:Would be cool if japanese devs saw steam as a "home version" of nescica

but I got like 3 different copies of Ikaruga....unless it was on "Sale" I would pass on the steam version.

Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
I'm very fine with this since I don't have a 360. If this does well, a PC port of RS will probably pop up too. Throw in the Nesica version of CC and I'd die happy.

It's incredibly depressing to see Treasure reduced to groveling for Greenlight votes when Sine Mora got a direct publisher.
and I don't even like Ikaruga or Silvergun.

I was curios about whether this is just milking the game or something more so I checked Iuchi's site vgmaterials.. and there is a recent blog post but it's just talk about buying Nine Inch Nails CDs and "Trent-tan"

To be fair those guys were rolling out a new game, Ikaruga 2 (I know it wouldn't be called that) would make a lot of waves.DJ Incompetent wrote:It's incredibly depressing to see Treasure reduced to groveling for Greenlight votes when Sine Mora got a direct publisher.

Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
is it? ikaruga getting greenlit is a sure thing, and correct me if i'm wrong but, i'd imagine they stand to make a lot more money by selling direct w/o a publisher.DJ Incompetent wrote:It's incredibly depressing to see Treasure reduced to groveling for Greenlight votes when Sine Mora got a direct publisher.
Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
I'll eat my words, this is awesome! Btw, the game isn't getting a release. It will come out as long as there is demand for it, so go vote it on Greenlight now!

Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
One of the Steam "features" that i dislike most. I have seen strategy games from a company with multiple released titles languish in Greenlight (AGEOD´s "Alea Jacta Est", and they even got one of their games in Steam when they were under Paradox umbrella) while lots of zombie-related shovelware get a direct release. Totally unfair and really amateur from a supposed powerhouse in PC games. Can you imagine Sony deciding PS4 releases based on a popularity contest?DJ Incompetent wrote:It's incredibly depressing to see Treasure reduced to groveling for Greenlight votes when Sine Mora got a direct publisher.

Nonetheless, greenlighted and a sure buy if it gets the pass. As a PC-only player i´m curious to see what all the fuss is about with this game.

Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
So we're assuming this is based off the 360 code, right? Will it feature 4:3 support.. or tate for that matter?
Nevermind... I see that vertical screen orientation is supported.

How awful that a company like Treasure have to go through Greenlight. Still, another high-quality shmup on PC is nothing to complain about.

Same crap, different day. The company is starting to circle the rim.
Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
This better not be locked down to any goddamn Steam DRM. This could set a terrible precedent for PC shooter developers.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

I'd agree if they didn't have a kiddie 3DS Monster Hunter clone in development, which is about the safest type of game you can release in Japan right now, and is likely to make some bank. It doesn't seem that they'll be able to release another new game catering to the hardcore any time soon, though.Bar81 wrote:Same crap, different day. The company is starting to circle the rim.
Merging with G.Rev would probably be a good idea for Treasure. They already have a history together. I'd say that they should try to get Nintendo to take them under their wing, as they've done with Platinum, but they're probably not interested in having Treasure back after S&P2's lousy sales.
Put in my Greenlight vote, even though I have no intention of buying Ikaruga for the third time.

Re: Ikaruga news incoming...
My vote's in. Would be an instant buy for me, more of a PC shmuper and my old first-gen Xbox 360 doesn't have any ways for it to connect to the net.
