Interesting switch to english there, thinking of tapping into that old "frothing demand" market maybe.
Anyway, if it's a new game it best be the real "Project RS-3" which was pitched to Treasure by Iuchi long ago but got shot down, and not some mobile Ikaruga Panic thing, or Ikaruga Tactics.
Silvergun is beautiful. I don't know how folk have the gall to shun something so impressive because it dares to break convention (just the once, y'know.)
I don't hate Ikaruga, but it was definitely a step back.
Who is actually still with Treasure? Hiroshi Iuchi worked on Kokuga for G. Rev and a couple of Treasure staff worked on Code of Princess. I know some of these guys are freelance, but I'm curious since I don't remember Treasure working on anything for awhile.
They're announcing it as "news about Ikaruga" and they're announcing it in English...my money's on an international steam release of the same version that is currently distributed via NESICAxLive.
Though I must say I'd like to see a stereoscopic version on the 3DS. RSG and Ika both have scenes that play with the perception of depth. I just love the way the Ika-ship flies into the background on level 2

The nesica version was based off of the xbox version correct? If it were to come to pc I hope they do something about the analog controls.

I would like to see a modern cinematic action game using some kind of Mode 7 and/or animated backgrounds. Something - easthetically - between Radiant Silvergun, ye olde F-Zero and Sega CD Silpheed. I mean something so good looking nobody would complain it's pre-baked. That would, obviously, be expensive to develop.
The rear gate is closed down
The way out is cut off

I kinda do hope it's that - nullDC doesn't really cut it :p

I'm shocked it wasn't done last generation, given how canned shmup backgrounds tend to be anyway. You could really make a gorgeous DVD background and then concentrate the system's polygon power on the ships. That could look awesome.

At the same time, this would be such a disappointment considering xbox 360 owners were lucky enough to get the updated console version exclusively so far...
I'm really hoping for something new. We know Ikaruga's good, but that's also partly because most of us already played it. How about Ikaruga: Radiant Successor on Wii U? That would be something.

Why would you feel disappointed if more people were able to enjoy that game?

Because the game is available on Xbox Live Arcade. I don't believe a hypothetical exclusive physical release of the same game on the same console would really help it become more accessible to anyone. It would be a disappointment because it would be a useless thing to do.
