I wish there was a vertizontal Saturn Psikyo shmup that had more stages (in random order!) and a bunch of extravagant weapon powerups like in Space Megaforce.

Would vertizontal Psikyo be even playable? Them fast bullets. Sonic Wings Special has enormous weaponry, but it's not really vertizontal (tate is where it's at) and not by Psikyo.

Not sure what you mean here since half of the Kirby games have shmup stages and Mass Attack even comes with a full fledged shmup.

If you say so... Nevertheless, Block Ball is all projectile action (not "really" a Kirby game to be fair) and feels more shmuppy to me than all those confetti blasters where bullets fall like snow (Mushihime-sama Futari has got enemies literally faster than their own bullets).

I wish there was a Kirby shmup. A nice 2D, color pixel spritey horizontal shmup. It could be a vert too but I think a hori would be cooler.

It's always a tease for me when Hal sticks in a excellently crafted shooting segment or minigame in their Kirby games, I would love to see them go further with their ideas.

Wow! I thought I was the only one who wished for a Kirby shmup, expecially since how awesome were the shmup parts in latest Kirby games (Epic Yarn, Mass Attack and Return to Dreamland). Fortunately in this forum I found that are also other people with the same thoughts as me. Even an eShop release for 3DS would be more than OK.

Moreover I wish there was:
- An Otomedius game with the great gameplay and sense of humor of Parodius.
- A new japanese parody shmup in the fashion of Parodius, Star Parodia, Space Invaders '95, Gunbare The Game Paradise and so on. Let's face it: without wanting to sound like a nostalgiafag, '90s was the best decade for this kind of games.

Man, is Solar Striker puzzling. Nintendo's one and only shmup, not bad at all, yet never built upon...

There is? I know about Megaman Soccer, Megaman Tennis, Megaman Golf and many other weird ideas (mainly for japanese mobile phones) but I have never heard about a Megaman shmup (at least an official one, I'm pretty sure there is even one fan-made Megaman shmup).

Technically there's a few autoscrolling segments in Megaman 8 where you're riding Rush and it plays exactly like a shmup (Tenguman, Wily's Castle 2), but not an entire game or fangame that's Megaman/Rush themed that I'm aware of.

I hope the Jamestown team makes another vert shmup. There was space for improvement/refinement in that game, but it did so many things right for a modern shmup, and added something new, too.

I agree with this. I really feel like Jamestown did a bunch of stuff that could actually help people give STGs a chance while still including arcade mode for whiny purists.
