8 hours into Shadow Wars now. Still good. Sort of wondering if I should switch to a higher difficulty. Sure I've lost a few times due to stupid mistakes but I think more challenge could be fun.
Re: Nintendo 3DS (XL)
It'll help stop more dust from getting under the screen?
Re: Nintendo 3DS (XL)
Anywhere dust enters the system could be the problem, and a screen protector only covers the screen, not the entire system.RNGmaster wrote:It'll help stop more dust from getting under the screen?
Dust isn't getting in there by penetrating the screen plastic itself, I can say that for sure

Re: Nintendo 3DS (XL)
I hope it's actually hacked [ie, custom code] instead of the cartridge only running commercial ROMs imaged to an SD card [all you'd need to do is fake it enough to think that you're a real card]. Especially since if it's just faking that it's a 3DS card and loading an official binary, it won't even get around the region block...
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
Re: Nintendo 3DS (XL)
Judging from their own page even, it's not custom code, just a really dumb copier.

From Maxconsole admin, which seems to be the one that broke the news:
So probably custom code too. Edit: of course there's no homebrew SDK yet so don't expect great things from that in a while.Yep, it is real.
And for those asking, it is 'early video' before the 'game manager' was finished in coding by the homebrew developers, reason for 3 microsd one for each rom.
And it should be shipping in less then 2 weeks

Re: Nintendo 3DS (XL)
I don't particularly want this for piracy, i'd happily just have some mechanism of playing games region free. I already bought x2 3DS regulars (1 US, 1 JPN) and have since upgraded to XL for JPN. I would prefer to use that unit only rather than drop cash on a new US XL
So - i downloaded Altered Beast from the JPN Store. The final (?) in the M2 / Sega 3D treatment. Space Harrier was utterly glorious, Super Hang on was great, i skipped Sonic...
Altered Beast is based on the Megadrive version rather than the arcade, everything is intact as expected and runs perfectly.
As always, the options are where M2 have been doing a great job and , whilst Space Harrier had more, AB has some decent additions :
Samples can be defined as MD or MD2 balanced - however, there's no graphic equaliser as seen in SH and SHO
the game version can be switched from Japanese to Foreign (assuming US)
buttons can be full reconfigured
Screen mode : normal (emulated look - very clean) or classic (blur filter, colours are offset to look like crt, no scanlines, beveled like a monitor but with 3D beveling - i.e. the screen buldges towards you a bit
Three Dimensionality - basically a choice between the 3D effect going into the screen or coming out of the screen. The effect coming out of the screen is very strong and my eyes went a bit funny at first trying to get use to it
There's also the option for きまぐれ変身 - might be my rusty japanese but i expected some randomness here given the phrase, but as far as i can see if this is set you always change into the bear, when not set you change into the usual beast for that level.
All in all - it's as good as can be for an MD game getting a nice 3D treatment - we lost some options, gained some others. In all, a little sad a few other games didn't get some love - arcade Power Drift would be -perfect- for this and a 3D Revenge of Shinobi would have been exceptional.
Still - 600 yen - can't really complain. And of course, if you do have a Japanese 3DS then Space Harrier 3D is absolutely mandatory. Incredible effort (includes some excellent options and a nice surprise at the end)

And yeah, the 3DS doesn't really need to be pirated right now. Hope big N locks that shit down right away.

This is useless anyway, it does nothing about the region-lock.

If I can get all my 3DS cards on one card with backup-able saves I would find that very useful.Friendly wrote:CMoon wrote:

If Nintendo were even slightly competent at digital distribution I would see this as pointless too though.

Just picked up an XL today, with Mario 3D Land and SSFIV. Did a quick arcade mode of SSFIV; then I ended up spending an inordinate amount of time on the AR Card games. I'm in love. That is all.
Edit:
Anybody have experience with ergonomic skins/molds/cases/whatever? I'm thinking I'll have to pick up one before long.

I bought the Animal Crossing 3DS XL bundle and have been looking for a case as well. I ended up going with this case through Amazon.com.
Amazon Basics Nintendo 3DS XL Carrying Case
I can give a more detailed review when it arrives. It should be soon with Prime shipping. Is anyone else playing Animal Crossing New Leaf at the moment? Looking for people to exchange friend codes with and visit each other's villages.

ugh, for reasons against my better judgement - i'm playing New Leaf.
I already bought and sold back the Japanese version of this knowing it wasn't for me - but seeing as everyone seems to be playing it i downloaded the US version. I'll dig out my 3DS code later.

Ecco and Galaxy Force II are confirmed as the next Sega 3D Classics games. Meanwhile, we have none still. What the hell, Sega?
Does it seriously take 5 months to release these kinds of games? Are they just waiting for all of them?

More "what the hell Sega" at Outrun not being the next game. I would almost consider importing a Japanese 3DS for that (though if I wanted portable Outrun a Pandora would probably be the better choice).

At least they are finally getting more GG games out.

There might be some legal issues, since Sega no longer has the Ferrari license. Even if the car in the original game isn't officially a Ferrari, it's pretty clear what it's supposed to be. Maybe they just don't want to risk it.ZellSF wrote:More "what the hell Sega" at Outrun not being the next game.
