Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the SNES: Why?
Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the SNES: Why?
Why? Why? Why?
Why did Capcom port this to the SNES? If I think about this question any more, my head will explode. My main issue with the game is constant loading. Why Capcom why? Was the Saturn or PS1 port of this game better than this.? Good god, this game is horrible. Never playing this again.

It was not made by Capcom. Nintendo actually paid a license so they could publish it on their system. I think the game was a joke. But you should have seen the hype for it in the official Nintendo magazine in Mexico. It's run by idiot fanboys who drooled at the blurriness of the N64, and the "CD quality" sound of the SNES.
Morons. I'm glad I moved to the USA shortly after.

Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.
Erm SNES alpha came out after it came out on the PS.
I know that in theory it could've come out before the PS, but I don't think it did. Prove me wrong and I'll smile.
Also describe the loading on the SNES, because that IS the funniest shit ever, loading on a cartridge...?
I have heard mentions of this before and we should give Capcom credit for making a cartrdige which loads

Aero Blaster/Air Buster for MD/Genesis has loading times. It's rather odd... you get to look at a screen of the 5 main characters for about 5 seconds before each level.D wrote:Also describe the loading on the SNES, because that IS the funniest shit ever, loading on a cartridge...?

One should make a clear distinction between loading and time needed for decompression to avoid misunderstanding.
CD/DVD games have loading times and may also need time to do decompression. In the case of carts we are talking about decompression only.
In the case of SFA 2 the S-DD1 compression. And in this case the compression is understandable and reasonable.
Air Buster indeed has a delay, but I really doubt it is there because of decompression as it is only 340kb big. I think it is merely questionable presentation.

May we speak the beauty of thee, O Earth, that is in thy villages and forests and assemblies and war and battles.

Pfft, I've played SFA2 on SNES before and remember the stupid "decompression" time. More like lazy coding. Star Ocean and Tales of Phantasia use the same kind of compression and they don't load like crazy. SO and TP even have a fair amount of voices.
"Sooo, what was it that you consider a 'good salary' for a man to make?"
"They should at least make 100K to have a good life"

Yeah I agree, the poor quality music was by far the worst part of the game for me. But I mean c'mon guys, for the SNES the port of this game wasn't half bad. Yeah so there was loading just before and after a round (about 4-5 seconds), and ALOT of missing frames but other than that the port was alright. Not too bad a job at all I thought.
Actually I had a few fun hours with this game while my wallet was empty. Of course once I played the Real version (Saturn), there was no going back.
