Agreed. The play looks surprisingly tight for a 2.5Der.Hagane wrote:But since no one so far has managed to capture the fluidity and speed of a true 2D fighter with a 2.5D game and with the current trend to dumb everything down, I can't help to be cautiously optimistic in that regard.

Youtube's fps limit is set at 30fps.Cagar wrote:GG, 3D, but stiff animations.
Why aren't the animations 60fps?
Yeah, but they're clearly sub-30 as well.pestro87 wrote:Youtube's fps limit is set at 30fps.Cagar wrote:GG, 3D, but stiff animations.

I think that's actually a really cool stylistic choice. It does give it a bit of the illusion of being like older 2D shmups, and I don't think we've seen a fighter before that's tried deliberately broken up animation frames with 3D models.Stormwatch wrote:I get it. More animation frames = slower gameplay. A Guilty Gear drawn fully at 60FPS would be boring as fuck and not play like GG or any other good 2D fighter for that matter. Every 2.5D game tries to emulate 2D fighting game animation for more than aesthetic reasons.Cagar wrote:Yeah, and that is beyond stupid.
Heavily disagree here. Guilty Gear has been the top fighting game series for a while and Accent Core is the best, deepest fighting game in a long long time, definitely up there with Capcom/SNK's finest. SFIV is just a stiff, watered down, mediocre game that is a joke compared to the best games in the SF series.Skykid wrote:Never much of an Arc System fan outside of Hokuto no Ken, and even that has problems as a serious fighting game. They just don't seem to have the same ability as Capcom/SNK did in their heyday. I'd still rather play SFIV than another GG.
It's a common practice for 2.5D fighters all the way back to Street Fighter EX. It wouldn't really play like a 2D fighter otherwise.BareknuckleRoo wrote:and I don't think we've seen a fighter before that's tried deliberately broken up animation frames with 3D models.
GG does nothing for me. I'm not at all down with the incredibly OTT combo system and all the other complications cluttering up the system. I'm not saying it's not incredibly well made - I've attended enough tourneys to see what the game is can do at the upper tier - but it's certainly not my type of FG. Arcsys style is too frenetic for me, hence I'd rather play SFIV, which I've been enjoying much more since getting schooled by top players. They make it look vastly different in play style from SFII & 3, I'm surprised at all the tactics tbh, I had no idea they were there.Hagane wrote:Heavily disagree here. It looks like you haven't noticed the #R style Dustloop and Grand Viper. :3Hagane wrote:Good sign, I hope the rest of the game is as faithful to AC as that.
